I’m 19 weeks pregnant and had an anatomy ultrasound, they want to see me every 4 weeks to monitor babies growth because he’s not getting enough nutrients because of where the placenta and cord is, and I was low on a protein for the baby, really hoping that everything will be good. I’m being watched closely by my doctors. So staying positive and having faith in all the doctors and nurses that are caring for me and my baby. I also have a heart condition and taking part in a study of mothers with heart conditions and they also keep an eye on babies heart as well
I had my developmental ultrasound at around 21 weeks, and it wound up taking an hour and a half, because he would not settle down. He spent a solid seven minutes just doing somersaults back and forth in my uterus. The sonographer was both frustrated, but thought it was adorable. He just wouldn't cooperate, they managed to get everything at least, just took a long while.
I am 17.5 weeks and started feeling my baby move right at 17 weeks! It felt like twitches exactly like you described. It’s almost hard to believe I’m at 17 weeks, it’s crazy how time flies!
So happy I can across your TH-cam channel, this has happened me a lot during my pregnancy this is my first child. And I have felt so unprepared but now watching you guys it gives me breathing room thank you!:)
Hi Drs ☺️ my anatomy scan is next week ☺️ I'm 20 weeks 5days with my first baby boy after 5 girls and I think I've been feeling tiny kicks but not sure 🙏 Praying my baby is doing great 🙏
While the 20 week ultrasound is exciting, it can also be a time where you receive heartbreaking news. My wife and I, last year, we're pregnant and thought everything was fine until the 20 week ultrasound. During COVID, I was allowed to be in the room for the anatomy scan but was sent to my car while my wife met with the doctor. I then got a call from my wife and the doctor was on the phone. I don't remember everything that was said except for "there are abnormalities and we don't know what's wrong". The office then sent my wife, by herself, sobbing to my car. They didn't even attempt to get us an appointment right away to figure out what was wrong. We waited two weeks until we had an appointment with MFM. All we knew was that our baby was measuring 2 weeks behind. At 22 weeks we had another scan and then met with a genetic counselor before choosing to have an amniocentesis performed. We waited two more weeks until we got the results. The news was horrifying. Our baby had Trisomy 18, which is a fatal chromosomal abnormality. Our baby had the typical clenched fists and rocker feet that T18 babies present. Little did we know it at the time, but she would only be with us for 4 more weeks. Our daughter was still born at 28 weeks. So I say all that to say this; go into your 20 week appointment eyes wide open. We all know that some pregnancies don't end with a baby but no one ever prepares you for if it's you that suffers a loss. Be prepared, insist on having a support person with you, and advocate for yourself and your baby. Don't take no for an answer. I am still jealous of other parents, even almost a year later, who gave pregnancies that go by normally and end with a baby. I'm jealous that they are able to happily plan for their baby. While our peers got to decide how to decorate their baby's nursery, we got to pick our baby's urn. I'm sorry for the dark mood of this comment; I don't intend to rob any of you of your joy. I do, however, feel the need to warn you about the dark side of pregnancy because I've been there and will always have that be part of me. It is very real and to all of you who say that no matter what you would still make the same choices, let me tell you from experience that you don't know how you would react. You don't know what you're going to do, think, say, or respond when it's your baby who is suffering. So be thankful that you are pregnant, enjoy the little moments during pregnancy. Yes, I'm saying be thankful for and enjoy the morning sickness, the exhaustion and the changes in your body. Be in the moment. I wish any pregnant moms out there the very best and the best of luck. I hope that you don't have to experience the pain that my wife and I have. I hope you have many years of happiness and memories with your little ones.
Sending my thoughts & prayers to you & your family. I had a miscarriage last year and now pregnant at 14 wks but I have anxiety thinking of something might go wrong.
Normally I don't comment on things but when I read this - my heart absolutely broke for you and your wife. I have been in your shoes - in September I went for our ultrasound by myself due to Covid restrictions and found out that our baby had Trisomy 13 and multiple other fatal fetal abnormalities. It was a nightmare that no one prepared me for because the naïve bliss of my first pregnancy was so strong. The immature side of me just assumed that because I made it past the 12 week mark that my baby would be "perfect." I thought if I made it to the anatomy scan that meant my baby was fine. Fortunately - I am now currently pregnant and going for our 20 week ultrasound on Friday but the PTSD from the last pregnancy is so real. Your comment really resonated with me and I appreciate you so much for taking the time to type all of that out for mom's like me who have been there before. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your wife
@@jessicalynn446 I'm so sorry for your little one. Any loss is hard, but the loss of a baby is profound as I'm sure you can relate to. T13 is such a heart wrenching diagnosis and I'm so sorry you had to endure that. I hope your latest 20 week scan went well and baby #2 is in good health! My wife and I are pregnant again. We're at 18+3 and our scan is in 10 days. We're so scared but we're trying to stay hopeful.
@w.hicks that is usually true. In the case of my wife and I, our NIPT came back clear, only for us to discover that our baby actually was suffering from Trisomy 18. The NIPT test is informative, but don't treat it as if it's definitive. As with any test, it can be wrong. So go into every appointment, especially the 20 week appointment, eyes wide open.
Welcome aboard! And thank you. :) Fun and informative is exactly what we are going for!! Congratulations on your pregnancy--this first time mom thing is both exciting and terrifying! Hope you are feeling great!!!
Thank you so much for your content! I really appreciate informative channels which are science-based, yet do not disregard other kinds of approaches or beliefs. It is also great that you have included both (especially in later videos) - a perspective through the doctors' knowledge and your own personal thoughts and trying to keep them as separate as possible. One thought though. I remember, at the end of one of your videos, you recommended a couple of books for expecting moms, but I can not find this video anymore. It would be so nice to have a separate video or a list somewhere, with the recommended books about the pregnancy, birth and the first year of a baby.
They had to do it a couple of times because baby was in a hard-to-see position and wouldn't budge. It was very exciting to get a glimpse! Also had a little false alarm about something, so that was scary. Ultimately she turned out healthy though.
Since I am expecting DIDI, B/G twins, I’ve had an US every four weeks since week 5.5! Not happy to be high-risk, but it has been super cool to watch them grow from a poppyseed to an ear of corn, so far! Thank you for this fun demonstration. ☺️
I enjoyed seeing my dtr on the anatomy scan. I had to go in 3 times to get a complete scan. She was all the way in my pelvis hiding her face. Congratulations on your new baby.
Suen--congrats on your sweet baby too! Sounds like she was being shy! My little girl did the same thing but cooperated when we went in the second time! Glad they got all the images they needed on the third try. It is so fun to get to see them those extra times tho. :D
Hey I’m so glad I found your channel. You both are so great. Are you interested in making a video covering prenatal vitamins and what supplements/medications you would recommend or not recommend? There is so much conflicting information on this topic.
Great suggestion! We cover a bit about this in our video on the Do's and Don'ts of Pregnancy: th-cam.com/video/9o_Kxcss1u8/w-d-xo.html starting at minute 4:13!! Basically, a prenatal vitamin and a well-balanced diet is all you need if you don't have any other special health conditions. I have been taking Ritual Prenatals because the first ones (and cheapest ones I could find lol) I tried made me nauseous. They are more expensive than I would like (not sponsored in any way) but have all the essential vitamins you need and smell like lemon!!
I am almost 16 weeks! I love the fruit comparison. The app I follow does the same and I looove it. I’ve been taking pictures every week with the corresponding fruit since my baby was a blueberry 🫐
That's so much fun!! A little tiny blueberry to a watermelon--it's a wild ride and I can't wait for you to meet your little one. You are going to cherish those pictures when your kiddo is bigger!!

Yay, first one to comment! My husband and I are ttc. It's nice to know what goes on during those pregnancy visits. Can't wait to see baby girl and your journey as parents! Can you also give some tips and or advice for moms during these times?
You are too sweet! We are excited to meet her too! What kind of things do you have in mind? Can totally do an advice type episode--what kind of stuff do you have in mind to cover? Like baby stuff, coping with covid & pregnancy?
@@TheDoctorsBjorkmanYes, those things. Things that you learned along the way, like do's and don't for mom or products that help mom and baby. Lifestyle changes you've made during your 2nd trimester.
My baby was 7.2 inches at 16 weeks... 🤣 OBGYN was really worried about my weight loss until she saw how big my baby was... big baby coming end of 2021... ❤
I know in the early OB ultrasound they measure the crown rump length to determine gestational age... is that the length that is typically used throughout pregnancy? When you/apps say the length of baby each week that doesn't include the legs?
Hi, it’s our first pregnancy and first baby, 16weeks pregnant now and have a SCH, 7cm. Kindly tackle SCH also. My husband and I are worried. I’m on bedrest since then.
In my 18th week I started to feel the baby kicking me, which is wild as i know they're still small (and I am not really showing yet much either). But this kid is a strong kicker, even crazier now in week 19. It feels like I am getting kicked with a finger size limb. Wild! Even my husband can feel it through my stomach which is fun!
Thanks for this video. I actually watched to see about being called back for a second anatomy scan. My little boy was asleep during the scan so they couldn’t get the measurements of certain bones. Got some cute pictures of what looked like sucking the thumb though! 😍
Hi 👋 sorry for the comment spamming but I’m basically binge watching all your videos and loving them which is why I’m so interactive 🙈 tad embarrassing. Anyway on a video related subject : my friend is pregnant for the first time and recently had her 20 week ultrasound. The doctors found an issue with the baby’s heart (I don’t know the medical term but it’s not relevant because I don’t want to ask for medical advice). They told her that she has to come back in 4 weeks and then they will check if the issue (I think it’s a hole that needs to close up) has resolved itself or if they need to do additional testing. Obviously this is causing a lot of anxiety for her. She’s trying to soothe herself with meditation ect. But is finding it very hard to do. Is there any chance you could speak a little about the topic of dealing with pregnancy related anxiety? I remember you had phases where Sarah spoke about being worried because she wasn’t feeling a lot of symptoms so I just wondered if you had put some thought into methods / ideas to help pregnant women deal with these issues? And if you’d feel okay with sharing them in a video (I know it’s not your field of expertise). Thanks for your videos 🙏
Had my anatomy scan at 21 weeks. What an incredible appointment! My cervix length measured 2.83 and doctor said it is normal, but Dr Google said under 3cm is short. I know I should trust my doctor but still concerned. Any insight? Love you guys!
If you get your results that shows 3 MoM AFP, HCG and inhibin over 3, the genetic doctor said that could be the placenta since the 3 are high and baby may be fine. Any info on this?
Happiness arriving in MidJune💙pls pray🙏🏻 since its 1st time😢excited ,nervous, anxious😥.even our baby was too shy to show its face😂 though it wasnt shy to show the gender! Would like to know what else is shown in 3rd Utra??
CONGRATS on your June baby! That is going to be so fun---new baby and warm summer walks sounds perfect. It is totally normal to be nervous--I know I sure am! 3D US shows all the same things as regular US, just looks more like an actual babydoll as opposed to the 2D flat images, and it's sometimes tricky to get good views because of the cord being in the way or hands over the face, etc.
I had my anatomy scan and they said my baby is 97 percentile which means my baby is huge now I am wondering if he will actually be a huge baby and how accurate is this?
Can I drink hot chocolate? I'm 19 weeks now. I don't drink anything at all, only water. I'm not a coffee drinker, sometimes I really want to drink something besides water! Is hot chocolate okay to drink?
Hi, I am 18 weeks 5days. I had my anatomy scan 4days back. I got my results. My doctor said my baby measures smaller (5 percentile) and Nothing to worry baby head growth is good. She said I would need another ultrasound after 4weeks to see how baby is growing and measure the baby. I should be fine but I still think about my baby’s growth. Is there anything to worry about? I am from Indian origin (south Asian)
I am in my 24 weeks, and today is the last day of that week. Two day ago, I went for a ultrasound scan, the staff said she was about 1pound and 3 ounce. It sounds close to what your guy described, but the doctor said she is too small. Does he have a different standard?
Hi! How much different is this scan vs the 12 week scan along with DNA testing? What are the chances something can be found during this scan vs the earlier one? TIA
So lucky that my husband has been able to come to all my apts. Mine did take over an hour because we were doing an amnio at the same time, and little man was stubborn. I had to hold my bladder after that hour scan, then do the amnio, and still wait because they decided to see if he would move to get the final picture 😂 it was torture, but worth it to get all the pics in one apt, and to find out everything was good.
Almost 25 weeks pregnant, sadly due to Covid I wasn't allowed to bring anyone with me at the ultrasounds, but at least now my baby's kicks are getting stronger and my husband can feel her kicks too. It feels a bit weird that I haven't had any morning sickness and haven't thrown up once, it's such a common pregnancy symptom that the lack of it makes me a bit worried lol.
I've just entered my 2nd trimester, first child. So far is the worst trimester!! I've started to vomit, although the nausea (never severe) diminished, and also my depression got really really worst... so yeah... the worst one so far...
Hi doc This is my first time of pregnancy and I am great that I found your channel and other videos here in TH-cam, Tomorrow I’m going 15 weeks of pregnant snd still I don’t know what next I’m going to encounter, but right now I feel something that I just encounter yesterday I don’t if this is a sign of cold or being sickness, yesterday I have a headaches that my eyes get watery and I feel going to have a runny nose, then last night and right now yes I have a runny nose, I have my message here because I have no enough to go ask the doctor. I’m just curious about if is it normal to have a flu when you get are pregnant? And what herbal medicines can I take as a pregnant? Thank you in advance.🙏🙏🙏
Hi. I had anatomy scan. Doctor said that baby is measuring big. He is 2 weeks ahead of gestational age. So, my ob provider told me to eat less. Is it ok if baby measures 2 weeks ahead ??
Hi Shirley. I imagine they are going to have you follow up and get a fetal echo-which is a specialized ultrasound of the baby’s heart. EIF’s sometimes can just be artifacts or illusions from the imaging but definitely need to be looked at more closely to make sure it isn’t something else. Try not to get too worried until they investigate a little more. You will be in our thoughts and prayers-keep us posted!
You got all the sizes wrong but ok ... im 23+1, my baby is measuring bigger than it should though in weight from what ive seen in scans to what ive looked up is the normal weight, ive been recommended to get a cardiac scan which is done earliest 24 weeks, my scans and techs told me everything is in normal range but the lady i saw at my antenatal appointment the other week said i needed this scan because its in normal range but slightly high 🙄 i already know my baby will have a heart defect and disabilities like autism and adhd because both me and my partner have them and so do all his current kids, my partners kids were born through 2 different exs and all came out through emergency c section, he has the genetics to form massive babies and this is MY first child so wish me luck, i aint even trying natural im going full planned c section 😅 to also mention my pregnancy has been identified as a level 2 risk
My naughty boy decided to give us his back and A.S 🤣🤣🤣 it was hilarious to get him to move so we can have a full anatomy scan :p I guess he didn't like the new Obgye 😏😏😏
yesterday I had my second Ultrasound, and, on the screen, I saw this (lethal skeletal dysplasia) is that normal to see it on the screen? or that means there is a detection of a defect. I haven't seen the doctor yet. I asked the nurse if everything looks normal, she said that the doctor will go over everything next appointment.
I appreciate the effort, but the fruits and veggies you used to convey baby's size are confusing more than anything. Banana -> pomegranate? Coconut -> grapefruit? I think it makes more sense to compare to fruits/veggies every 2 weeks, rather than week by week: Banana -> Coconut -> Cantaloupe -> Lettuce. 😋
Hey guys I've been watching and loving your videos! My husband and I are fellow IVF parents to be and we've been doing lots of research into the necessity of a fetal echocardiogram. I actually found a very relevant and helpful study done by Dr. Kurt, thank you very much for your work!! I was wondering if you guys ended up doing a fetal echo (and I completely understand if this isn't something you'd like to share so feel free to ignore)?
I’ve never seen a man so uncomfortable holding anything as I did with you and the artichoke 😂 anyway I love your videos!! You guys are great and I hope your channel really takes off because you guys are great!
Ladies, can you tell me the different drinks you have daily. I only drink water and feel horrible all day. I want to have some sort of flavored drink or something, but never know whats safe to drink. Please give me ideas, only thing I don't drink is coffee as I've never liked it. What do you drink besides water?
I wish there would be some representation of what it's like to be pregnant and plus sized. It's so normal and common and yet talked about with such shame, if at all. Most of these skinny moms have bellies at 20 weeks that I had at age 13.

How big was your baby??
@@Rachelief I later got pre-eclampsia in my pregnancy so he actually came out small. He ended up being 5 pounds 3 ounces. He is so so smart though! 💙
I know in the early OB ultrasound they measure the crown rump length to determine gestational age... is that the length that is typically used throughout pregnancy? When you/apps say the length of baby each week that doesn't include the legs?
Can you talk about Nuchal Translucency and genetic testing at 10-12 weeks please
Hi, it’s our first pregnancy and first baby, 16weeks pregnant now and have a SCH, 7cm. Kindly tackle SCH also. My husband and I are worried. I’m on bedrest since then.
Week 20 and my Anatomy Scan is tomorrow 💙
In my 18th week I started to feel the baby kicking me, which is wild as i know they're still small (and I am not really showing yet much either). But this kid is a strong kicker, even crazier now in week 19. It feels like I am getting kicked with a finger size limb. Wild! Even my husband can feel it through my stomach which is fun!
Thanks for this video. I actually watched to see about being called back for a second anatomy scan. My little boy was asleep during the scan so they couldn’t get the measurements of certain bones. Got some cute pictures of what looked like sucking the thumb though! 😍
Same thing happened to but the nurse woke my baby up by pushing around on my stomach
what books do you recommended for new parents
My baby girl has been sooooooo active lol, I hope she cooperates tomorrow for the scan
Thank you for your informative videos. I'm about the same pregnancy timeline as you! Also with a girl! Looking forward to learning more!
You are so welcome! And congrats to you mama! That is so exciting!!! Hope you are feeling well and that the second trimester is being good to you!!
Those veggies analogies are so random 😂 like I wouldn't imagine a tomato being bigger than an orange
Great Earrings. You're fabulous.
Thank you! 😊 So are you.
Can you talk about low layered placenta?
Plz help what can you use if you are experiencing dry and itchy scalp during pregnancy
I had my anatomy scan and they said my baby is 97 percentile which means my baby is huge now I am wondering if he will actually be a huge baby and how accurate is this?
Love this video.. what was your baby girl heart rate.
Do you need a full bladder for anotomy scan? I was told i dont need to.
i'm 32 weeks so so excited 😇
Congrats!!!
Hi Doc, I would just like to ask if you do have a thyroid disorder? I’m on my 6th week and just found out I had non toxic multinodular goiter
Now 15 weeks of pregnancy i am elderly primi gravida i am worried about my pregnancy journey .is aminocenthesis important for me ?plz suggest me
How early can I began to read to my baby in the womb?
Can I drink hot chocolate? I'm 19 weeks now. I don't drink anything at all, only water. I'm not a coffee drinker, sometimes I really want to drink something besides water! Is hot chocolate okay to drink?
Yes. You can drink two cups of coffee and hot chocolate has less caffeine.
@@janinedear-barlow thanks 😊
@@bookkeysuk you made me want hot chocolate after answering you lol
Enjoy 😊
At how many weeks will baby be able to hear me or hear sounds outside the womb?
Hi, I am 18 weeks 5days. I had my anatomy scan 4days back. I got my results. My doctor said my baby measures smaller (5 percentile) and Nothing to worry baby head growth is good. She said I would need another ultrasound after 4weeks to see how baby is growing and measure the baby. I should be fine but I still think about my baby’s growth. Is there anything to worry about? I am from Indian origin (south Asian)
First time watching you guys are such a cute couple, congratulation's by the way!!
I am in my 24 weeks, and today is the last day of that week. Two day ago, I went for a ultrasound scan, the staff said she was about 1pound and 3 ounce. It sounds close to what your guy described, but the doctor said she is too small. Does he have a different standard?
Do doctors check on their babies all the time by ultrasound? I would lol not excessively of course because I know that’s not good.
Hi! How much different is this scan vs the 12 week scan along with DNA testing? What are the chances something can be found during this scan vs the earlier one? TIA
That’s an awesome question.
I’m almost 20 weeks with my first baby ❤
So lucky that my husband has been able to come to all my apts. Mine did take over an hour because we were doing an amnio at the same time, and little man was stubborn. I had to hold my bladder after that hour scan, then do the amnio, and still wait because they decided to see if he would move to get the final picture 😂 it was torture, but worth it to get all the pics in one apt, and to find out everything was good.
Love the rutabaga cooking suggestions ;)
I always get confused by the fruit bc I feel like an apple is bigger than an orange or avocado.
I'm kinda confused cuz all of my doctors and pregnancy apps, say that the baby it's able to hear at 15weeks😅
Hi. I had anatomy scan. Doctor said that baby is measuring big. He is 2 weeks ahead of gestational age. So, my ob provider told me to eat less. Is it ok if baby measures 2 weeks ahead ??
Hallo DOC im done my anatomy scan they found in the heart of my baby theres EIF im worried 😟
You will be in our thoughts and prayers-keep us posted!
you guys are awesome
Aw thanks. Glad you enjoyed-thanks for following along with our journey!
Is this video accurate? Because I follow an app and at week 17 baby should be big as a coconut. Week 14 baby is a size of an avocado
hi doc i notice a lump in your right neck, im following ur vlog and in ur previous vids i didnt saw that lump. i hope its nothing.
You should've chosen an smaller artichoke lol that was bigger than all other fruits.
Great channel that's full of insight. Baby 2 is due September. It's a girl. 🥰
Congrats!!!
@@TheDoctorsBjorkman thanks ❤
The anatomy scan is the one appointment my husband can't go to because of work. Sadness.
Ughhh. I'm so sorry he won't be able to be there. Ask the sonographer to take LOTS of pictures!!!
I was thinking the same thing !
I have never seen a 1lb 11 inch Ling grapefruist the fruit thing makes no sense to me at all
Well the baby is in a folded position inside. It doesn’t stand 😂 that’s why such references
That must have been a fun trip to the grocery store!
You would have cooked some lovely meals with all those props for the video!
Interesting. I think that bananas are longer than pomegranates.
Ladies, can you tell me the different drinks you have daily. I only drink water and feel horrible all day. I want to have some sort of flavored drink or something, but never know whats safe to drink. Please give me ideas, only thing I don't drink is coffee as I've never liked it. What do you drink besides water?
Hi! The things you should limit are caffeine intake (less than

Week 29 and I’m about to give birth to a fruit salad 🤣
I’m hungry for fruits now 🙈
Hahaha. We had quiteee a variety in our refrigerator there for a while!
Lol I wonder if you could write off that produce as a business expense.
I’m pregnant with a little boy, and he keeps hiding his face.
Pomegranate looks more than the banana.
I wish there would be some representation of what it's like to be pregnant and plus sized. It's so normal and common and yet talked about with such shame, if at all.
Most of these skinny moms have bellies at 20 weeks that I had at age 13.
Why disgusting that you talk about being shamed for being fat yet you literally shame skinny moms in the next breath. Shame on you
