I love that you made this size a free pattern; it really does make a perfect hostess gift! I’m heading to my sewing room now to make one as a thank you to friends who hosted me for a week recently. And, since I was there I already know her color preferences. Thank you, Kimberly!!❤
I think it’s amazing that you are going through the time and effort to preserve these old patterns. I remember when patterns were in the newspaper. These patterns would have been lost and forgotten if not for your efforts. Thank you for making beautiful patterns available to modern day quilters and for preserving a slice of history.
I just wanted to say Kim that it is because of you I started using pins in quilting this year. I always used clips because I did not want pin holes but decided to try glass head thin pins and I love them! Just bit the bullet and paid the money for them and I’m so glad I did. Much more accurate piecing even though more time consuming. I still have not jumped into the starch arena yet though. I guess I’m like Lori in that sense I do not starch. Thanks for all of the quilt training you do for the world. You are always so hilarious too. I just love that.
Classic and Vintage is my favorite series on TH-cam. I love antique quilt blocks and the connection I feel to those who first conceived of and make these beautiful pieces. Thank you so much for your hard work in preserving and updating these wonderful patterns and giving them new life. I wonder if you would do Burgoyne Surrounded. I would absolutely love it if you would do various size blocks with it. As always FQS you are my favorite go to for all things quilting and lately cross stitch. Lots of 💗 from Minnesota.
I love the block and you make it seem so simple thank you for all the tips, oh bye the way I did the Lori holt heart quilt followed your instructions and it came out beautiful gave it to my son that had heart surgery ❤❤
I love that this has a king option. I’m a new quilter and this seems like something I can do. I would like to practice on the table topper and then make the Queen! Thank you!!
Another great video from FQS in the Classic & Vintage series!!! Thank you so much to Kimberly who showed the precision it takes to make the block perfect!! FQS is THE best quilt instructors on TH-cam!!!!!❤❤❤
Kimberly, this is a gorgeous block. Thank you for your tutorial. I would love to see a demo on the Chicago Geese Block and the Cactus Flower Block. Thank you. ❤
Great tips, as always. I especially take note of pinning BOTH edges when joining the solid triangle to the HST in order to keep that top edge lined up perfectly when the unit is opened up. I’m surprised Kimberly didn’t mention her propensity to starch her fabrics before cutting, especially since there are so many LONG bias edges. But I have watched her enough, that I definitely will be doing that for this block. I am loving this big block.
This was a great demo. I remember the old newspaper patterns well. It was always fun to see what the next pattern would be. I like this pattern very much. Your demo was great. Thanks for the free pattern.❤
I have a yard of Tennessee Titans fabric for a newlywed couple. I had made them a couple of bowl cozies. What am I going to do with a yard of this fabric? Then you showed up with this video. God answers prayers. I will make them a table topper to help with all their future game get-togethers. Thanks, Kimberly.
This block is beautiful, but I can’t possibly buy all the rulers you used to trim pieces as you did. Do you have any tips to help square each step if you have a basic 6” x 24” ruler and one or two other stray rulers?
I totally agree. I love watching the tutorials but some of the supplies used are way out of my price range...the fabric alone is costly. Other cutting instructions would be beneficial.
I have a 6.5x24 ruler, a 16.5 square, 10.5 square, 14.5×6.5 and some smaller squares that are Creative Grids. I haven't bought any new rulers in a couple of years. You don't need any more. If you need to measure any larger, just butt some rulers together to get the measurement you need and it works just fine. What I did to convert to Creative Grids rulers was buy 1 or 2 rulers every couple of months instead of fabric.
I have used a pet cone to make a template.... costing zero. Also, you can use the ruler you have to mark the line corner to corner, as well as to trim to size. Marke your ruler with blue tape... you can trim adjacent side at the same time. If you can afford one extra ruler, I suggest a 12.5 inch square ruler. You can do all your trim to size with that one ruler. ❤
Does anyone know about the heart quilt in background of this video? .Is this a future jolly bar quilt pattern? I Didn’t hear it mentioned in the video ?❤

Other companies and quilters revive old patterns too.
I love watching your tutorials! You show us how to make blocks straight and even! Thank you, Kimberly!

Wow! Thankyou to the quilt fairy who did all this math. Hugs, Chel 🌸
I love this block. I might try a tabletopper first to get comfortable making the block, and then go from there onto the 60" quilt.

Hello Pattie! The collection is currently delayed.
Thanks for another great pattern! Also Kimberly I love your top, would you share where you got it?
Hello Cynthia! Kimberly typically buys her tops from Talbots or local boutiques.
Love the quilt pattern and demo! What pen are you using to mark your fabric?
Love the block but I would change my colors
Scrappy would work too

You can use a 3 meter ruler or but two rulers edge to edge make sure you put weight on the rules so the don’t move
I use heavy plastic from JoAnn Fabrics and make templates that way.
