It's easy to move objects along the X, Y, and Z axis, but what about forwards or backwards relative to its rotation? That's also easy, thanks to its local orientation!
You can switch between Global and Local orientation in the 3D View header, by using the comma hotkey, or by double tapping the axis while transforming.
In this lesson, we also talk about how all objects have a reference point. It's usually the center of the world, but you can set the reference point to be any other object through a process called parenting, which means that it will inherit all of its transforms. The hierarchy of these relationships is displayed in the Outliner.
Some other hotkeys learned in this lesson are:
Alt G: Clear location
Alt R: Clear rotation
Alt S: Clear scale
Ctrl A: Apply (freeze) transforms
Ctrl P: Set parent
Alt P: Clear parent

You break things down into perfectly digestable increments. I'm getting more out of your intro course than most because other people "dive right in" which is all fine and good but leaves me feeling overwhelmed. This really is a great course for someone with 0 experience in 3D so thank you for your contribution.
I have 0 experience in 3D and I was starting to think it was too hard to learn by myself when trying other tutorials but this one is perfect, so far all the videos have been fantastic! Really basic intro to Blender and 3D, exactly what I needed. I also appreciate how you show what issues we may come across and explain why and how to fix/change them. Thank you!!!
finally, a course that I can understand, THANK YOU!!!
Wow, such an underrated course! Each lesson is perfect!
brilliant instructions, thank you.
Part 6 Orientations and parenting
Choose move tool- under 3D header on the top- switch global to local.
Global orientation- axis of environment
Local orientation - axis of object
Remark- Local help us to scale only 1 axis
Parenting
Select, shift select objects in sequence, last object is an active object(the parent object), then go to object- parent- object from top menu bar.
OR
under properties section there is a 'relation' option select 'parent'
OR
Ctrl P parent the object ✅
I love these videos so nice and concise as well as not being long asf and hard to break into different pieces of info!
I love blender comunity, thanks bro!
man learning like this is fun!! i wish this would have came out 3 years earlier lol
Great videos for a foundation to build upon in Blender
thats pure gold thank u
Thanks.
Thank you for the clear explanation. A question: is there any method to leave the origin on its place when applying the transformation? It's a bit annoying to return it to the center of the object every time after applying transform.
If one clears transformations but the object is not centered how can I reset the object if it was imported to Blender from another software?
When you press G or S or R and move, scale or rotate the object without pull the arrow etc, how do you do that, on my Blender I can only do if I pull the arrows after press G for example.
do you will make this intro video with us

@@cg_cookie ok thanks 🙏
Background music name... pls 🥲
A lot of people don’t like background music bc they loose focus on what he’s actually trying to say due to the music playing in the back 🤷🏾♂️, so he prolly just trying to have videos for all people, and if you want music just play it in your own background lol
@@jaeveous no no, they're asking for the name of the background music in the intro and outro.
@@abhijithnarayan1370 ahh 😂😂 thanks, I’m slow at times but I was finna say , Lord no!
