I would have just started stripping and lightening the Olds. They wasted a whole day building what they already had before they tore it apart. I haven't seen the end yet, but I would build it simply on the thought that the other car just won't work well, or it will break, so in the end it doesn't matter how fast it is, it just has to finish and thats winning the race.
the gearbox has close ratios so no matter the final drive it would always need shifting, the gear ratio didn't actually end up that bad or bad at all for the 1/8th mile, remember that bike originally could hit a way higher speed on a way longer road
Most of those 80s small blocks were horrible. They were designed mainly to meet emissions regulations and fuel consumption goals in a time before manufacturers had really gotten the hang of doing that. Instead, they just neutered the hell out of their engines. I have an '87 Camaro with a 305 in it. Tore the useless hunk of metal out and dropped in an Olds Rocket.
Lmao all new all american junkyard wars lmao not at all a rebranded copy of the uk show scrapheap challenge from 1998 😅 nah but seriously this was an awesome series one of the few u.s copies that worked 💪
less pressure is a load of rubbish. you actually need higher pressure than they had. and their v8 was pathetic; barely any wheel spin in a car a lot lighter than the one it came out of. how do the manufacturers get so little power out of such a big engine
Best episode of a legendary tv show
This episode is like the best one of them all.
Close competition, nice machines. Awesome \o
Man I forgot how much I loved this show...
In 8th grade I used to watch this in shop class.
the expert shoulda sent them out into the scrap yard saying, ' bring in anything that looks like it'll run. job done !
That love story was amazing
Thanks so much for posting
O wow, scrapyard challenge gets sold to the US lol, they even sent the backing music cd and token British girl for narrator :)
the token British girl created the show lol
Kathy is the creator of Scrapheap Challenge, certainly not a token. It wouldn't have existed without her.
Awesome, Rob Hamilton is so cool!! I'd like to have him build a machine for me.
4/1000th of a second in it. Holy scrap!

Ya just cut it down to the sub frame, and weld in the rest to say you built it and keep the factory measurements so you can keep the suspention lol
So glad to see that team loose
glory old square age
There's a lot of awkward moments in this episode.
cant go wrong with bike motor. i would just married the back end of the bike to the golf cart and make a reverse trike dragster.
No warning on safety
16:20 im pretty sure thats now a vw bug but actually a citroen 2cv
WFT is a 'Dragster Strip'?
If the yellow guys had better gear ratio and a better working clutch than they would be alot faster, i see them lose alot time with shifting alone.

Why didn’t they send Lisa?

the 1st ever Junkyard Wars US episode
Why was it filmed in the UK?
This show was actually proven that it was staged.
What? Where'd you hear that?
@@FelixTheHouseFreak search for "rcmodelreviews" or "xjet" here on youtube. The guy participated in one of the episodes and talks about it.
He was just being rc because he didn’t win

It was always meant to be the US version. The creator, Cathy Rogers even presents and controls it.
who would dare throw a beautiful cutlass away.. the way our country is going breaks my heart :(
lol
planted cars and motor cycles, pathetic, they should have used the bikes original rear wheel and swing arm.
If you came from smosh games like this
less pressure is a load of rubbish. you actually need higher pressure than they had. and their v8 was pathetic; barely any wheel spin in a car a lot lighter than the one it came out of. how do the manufacturers get so little power out of such a big engine
It's an American made V8, that's why lol
