- Junkyard Mega-Wars - Rock Crawlers, It's another battle between power and brains. Crash and Bowser need to built rock crawlers to fight up against the great Junkyard Mega-Wars mountain. Is it victory for the red team or the blue team. Watch the episode to find out.

I know... Basically they are taking a pre-made basis for a rock crawler that would just need lift and tires and they are throwing it out the window
there was no engine in the samurai .
This show needs a reboot except make it real and cut out all the corny crap. Still, loved this show as a kid.
Itd have to be two 8 hours days to make it real but I'm sure they could make it work

There have been a whole bunch of times where a specific request for a part or vehicle wasn't found.. not to mention, the samurai was missing the diff, so it became mostly useless to the original design.
Not that it matters at all but he actually said like a samurai, Not specifically a samurai. The show also takes place in a junkyard so it is possible you would find 1 or even 10 of them there, I know a few of the yards around here have a few sitting in them or did, they have probably been crushed by now but its fully possible without being scripted. I'm not saying the show wasn't scripted, just that finding one is possible for anyone at a junkyard

ruined a perfectly good sammi. Should have done a spring over, cut the fenders, bigger tires, weld the diffs, aired down the tires and done deal.
Except for the small matter that there was no engine in the Sammy.
Good lord this show's painful to watch. The builds are interesting but there's so much horribly scripted crap packed in around them.
The "hosts" were trying too hard to be "cool".... and failing miserably. Bobby Sue's talent is entirely in her bra, whereas Rossi has none at all.

I remember the time though when I drove cars into the junkyard, just to get rid of them. Today, some would pay heaps for them. But there is no excuxse for scrapping a vw van, eventhough they were made by the thousands.
In any case, junkyard megawars whatever is utter bollocks.
I am thinking air pressure in the tires might have helped?? Rock crawlers do not have full air in the tires

Fuck that was dangerous pulling on those ropes while it tries to climb. Why not lower tyre pressure they had a welder but didn't weld the diffs? Wtf?!

This was one of my favorite shows. But there was another very good program which was very similar to this one but I just don't remember the name. Can any one help me? Students compete in two teams(red and blue), the tasks were not that complex therefore, they were assigned pretty much any task other than vehicle building, and if I remember correctly the word "Junk" was in the name of the show.

That's not quite it. In this program competitors were young teenagers. And teams were red and blue. Commentators were a guy and a girl. Each supporting a team.

These type of shows are pre-staged. It's predetermined what they'll build so salvage parts are already available. I've done fabrication & welding and from design to completion... they're not doing it in 10 hours. All these
shows are just designed to try and entertain.
I agree with the parts but if they took any longer they must have little experience and or low IQ. They prove it by cutting the bus apart for the drivetrain that drops out with 6 bolts
If they really knew vehicles, they'd KNOW that Ford truck wheels have the exact same bolt pattern as their Suzuki, instead of hunting for JUST Suzuki wheels.

I wanted red to win so bad, they had the better ride, what killed them was 2 things the SMF should have known, first WTF didnt they deflate the tires, bald fulling inflated tires ???????? and 2nd they should have welded the diffs to make lunch box lockers.... and FFS floor mats would have gotten them out of 1/2 the problems...

easiest 4 wheel drive system ever, two front wheel drivetrains one mounted in the front one in the back, best part is if one engine fails, it can still move.

I lost interest in the franchise when the many-team competition Junkyard Wars morphed into Junkyard Mega-Wars. The challenges were still mildly interesting, but not so much as ambitiously challenging teams of 3(?) to build a snow mobile for a race, or to build digging machines to drill thru the walls of an imaginary prison, or to build mine-finding machines to blow up as many buried paint bombs as possible, or to build hydroplane boats, or to build a vehicle able to carry an open barrel of paint racing an obstacle course spilling as little as possible. Compared to this series where every week was initially 2 new teams, until the semi-finals, where they faced off, & then the final challenge for the grand prize... what incentive was there to care about 2 identical teams week after week after...
I simply lost interest in Mega-Wars, watched sporadically, then found something else on another channel. Morning the fall of Junkyard Wars.
(My favorite ambitious fail was the snowmobile "race" that was supposed to be 3 laps. The winner was the machine that got the most number of feet from the starting line before dying completely!)
Late reply, I know, but I loved this show as well but hated it's revamp. The "lightning bolt " chango ray caused me physical pain.
Only sad thing is it doesn't seem like any of these guys know anything about rock crawling.
They seem to know very little about vehicles in general

it' s sad that new age shows depict rapid flashing edits as a means of increasing viewability, of course it' s their option do what they perceive as their liking, but is my opinion the contrary usually happens they degrade the content this way.

I agree with you that all the weight in the back of the vdub was a bad idea, but as far as electric motors go, theoretically they are a better choice because an electric motor can provide instant and constant torque whereas an internal combustion motor has a power band and no constant torque.
such a amatures a electric motor from a golf cart dont have enough torque to climb hills they should have use a big truck engine on 4x4 body with wide tyres

Probably due to the yankafication of the show. A once so civilized challenge, the scrapheap challenge somehow was to polite for the average yank. So they made a "war" out of it and added a "mega". Accompanying this display in tastelessness, they added some mentally challenged (mega brain wars) "yeahaaaah", "whoooot", "uuuumurica!!!" shouting idiots.
I think that about sums it up.
