    Can you cook in the food pan. Like bake the food and then put the food pan on the water pan to keep warm? Or do you need to cook the food in another pan and then transfer the food into the food pan.

    • @alekasgettogether
      @alekasgettogether  4 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Yes you can cook the food in the food pan in the oven and transfer!

    I have 2 chafing pan sets very similar to the one you featured in this video. I’m wondering if foil pans can be placed into the food pan rather than directly over the water pan. My dilemma is that the foil half-pans I baked lasagna in weren’t sturdy enough and collapsed down into the water. The foil pans I used were purchased in a bulk pack from Costco so maybe they aren’t heavy duty enough. Are there different strengths of disposable foil pans? Would the food heat well enough if I placed a full size food pan over the water pan and then two foil half-pans into the food pan?

    • @alekasgettogether
      @alekasgettogether  5 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hi Linda! I do think it would heat well enough if you have two sternos underneath. But there ARE stronger aluminum pans out there that you should stock up on so two isn't needed.

    Hi, used one for the first time, the lid had alot of condensation which of course fell down to the food below. Tips/tricks to avoid this? Thnx

    • @alekashunk6399
      @alekashunk6399 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Unfortunately it’s impossible to prevent this. I’d recommend venting the lid a bit to keep the condensation to a minimum! Or leave it off when guests help themselves

    how do you warm up donuts that were made the day before in a chafing dish without them getting soggy?

    • @alekasgettogether
      @alekasgettogether  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      My parents owned a donut shop for 36 years so I’d like to think I have the answer to this question! 🤣 can I ask why you want to warm them up? I’d worry more about the donuts melting if they’re chocolate covered or glazed. Old fashioned cake donuts would be fine in a chafing dish with them being semi-covered but other donuts would be tricky to keep from melting and sticking together.

    Hello do you suggest getting the sterno holders if the chafing dishes dont come with them? Just purchased some of the chafing dishes from Sams club and they dont seem to include them.

    • @alekasgettogether
      @alekasgettogether  ปีที่แล้ว

      Most do come with so that would be surprising. Do you NEED a holder? No. Just make sure there is a place to put the sterno cans and it is close enough but not too close to the water pan.

    We are getting married beginning of December. I am going to make meat, cheese and vegetable lasagna. My thought was to cut slices and put in a serving container and into the chaffing dish. Watching you now that doesn’t seem plausible. Any suggestions will help me to have my perfect reception.

    • @alekasgettogether
      @alekasgettogether  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi there! I highly suggest baking the lasagna INSIDE a stainless steel chafing dish (make sure it's heavy duty and not cheap). Then cut your squares before placing it directly over your water pan to keep warm!

    I have a question. How long can you have food in the chaffing dish without it drying out?

    • @keywordswithaleka1
      @keywordswithaleka1 11 หลายเดือนก่อน

      Hey! That depends what the food is!! I always recommend adding extra liquid if it makes sense. Also keeping an eye on the heat and maybe having one burner instead of two.

    • @alekasgettogether

      Don’t keep the lid on for a long time! Steam will be your enemy! I prefer a vented lid.

    Do all chaffing dishes have a water bath? I have one Glucksteinhome brand and it doesn't seem to. It's round and quite tall. A. bit fancy. I have no experience with these!
