    Wrap the utensils in bundles inside napkins that way people just pick up a bundle rather than having to pull utensils out of three seperate containers.

    Adding height gets problematic for those that are shorter or for the little human guests ...as for desserts , I HATE how people put a dessert table out and there's like MAYBE only enough for 6-8 guests when people have 20+ guests

    Wow! Thank you sooo much. We're having an open house and buffet for the volunteers and board of a local museum next month.

    What about displaying the food on nicer trays rather than disposable pans? We eat with our eyes first. You can't help what people bring if it is a potluck, but if it a buffet you set up yourself with your own food then make it pretty.

      If you have nice serving trays - definitely use them! Especially if they all match or coordinate with the theme of the party.

    I watched this to see if i was missing anything. For cultural beliefs we do things a bit different. We always use chaffing dishes to keep warm food warm so some of your ideas wont work. Its a must to have serving spoons in each individual dish and keep it slightly covered because you don't want unexpected guests getting in the food . Most importantly under no circumstances can veggies be contaminated with any meat nor any pork with the beef. When you leave utensils on the side people usually grab whatever is conveniently close and dont consider just cause you eat beef doesn't mean you eat pork. We usually also wrap individual fork w/knife or spoon in a napkin and label the container. We also put plates first utensils last and a separate table for dessert and drinks.

    What happens if the utensils fall out as you grab one ...why put it in a jar instead of a cutlery box so it lies flat rather than standing up that way no risk of touching other utensils and nothing falls out since its all lying flat. And foil trays look a bit tacky so I would use chaffing dishes and platters and bowls.napkins need to also go on a plate or napkin holder so it looks nicer and condiments need to be in a bowl or something not the bottles as the packaging makes it look ugly and ruins the overall table aesthetics

      Thank you for your questions and comments. I appreciate it. This video is focused on what people do wrong and what not to do. Yes, much of what you mentioned would make the buffet MUCH more attractive, and I totally agree with. Maybe I'll make a companion video on how to make a buffet table attractive with simple changes. 😀

    I’ve used most of your techniques for years, but, especially since COVID, great idea for the utensils. Also love the idea of the raising boxes. Did try something similar years ago but the thing I used was too big and out of proportion to my serving table, so never tried it again. Next time! Thank you 🤓

    Thanks so much for sharing. These are really great tips. I totally get why we need to put the utensils facing down, however this works when it's a see through container like the one you are using. If it's not a see through container, the guest may need to pull out each one to figure out which one is which. In that case, it maybe better to label the containers.

    • @AdorntheTable
      @AdorntheTable  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes, if you can't see through your utensil containers, labeling them is a good idea.

    Or better yet preset the utensils/napkins on the eating tables. People don't like to juggle things while holding a plate of food. Also, put the cold items first and hot items last, that way it will be that much hotter when your guests get to their seats. Your welcome.

    • @AdorntheTable
      @AdorntheTable  ปีที่แล้ว

      Yes, depending on the formalness of your event and if you're table seating allows it, having the utensils and napkins already on the table is best.
