  • In my previous video, you have enjoyed the new and more modern part of Amman. And now I am taking you to the old and more historical part of the beautiful city.
    I started the trip from Amman Citadel and went all the way down to the Roman Theater with the amazing view of the city and the sunset.
    Enjoy the video and let me know your thoughts in the comments.

    Awesome videos ! You have a very calming vibe also ..
    Amman was named Philadelphia during the Hellenistic period
    Ptolemy II Philadelphus, the Macedonian ruler of Egypt, who occupied and rebuilt the city, named it "Philadelphia" (Ancient Greek: Φιλαδέλφεια), evoking "brotherly love" in Greek. The name was given as an adulation to his own nickname, Philadelphus.
    Oh and they have discovered a tunnel that goes underground from the temple on the hill to the below area where you ended up at the Roman theatre ( it is closed to public ).

      This is amazing history. I love history. Glad you were able to tell us why it was named Philadelphia. Your English is great as well. Thank you for the insight into the name of the city

      To add some more color to this story - Ptolemy II was called Philadelphus because he repudiated with first wife and then married his sister, Arsinoe II, as was common in the Hellenistic and Egyptian world at the time. "Brotherly love" in this case is something of a misunderstanding, and would more accurately described as "sibling love". William Penn misunderstood this as well when he applied the name to Philadelphia Pennsylvania in the US. @Davud_Akh

    The founding fathers of America were inspired by greek culture/ philosophy, that's why they named it Philadelphia/us . Φιλαδέλφεια means "brother love"

  • @IbrahimAlkhateeb
    @IbrahimAlkhateeb 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    Amman was occupied by the Assyrians and then the Babylonians, until it fell under Greek control, in the fourth century BC. After the Ptolemaic Greeks took control of Amman, in 285 BC, Ptolemy II changed its name from Robbat Ammon to "Philadelphia".
    Philadelphia means the city of brotherly love, and he named it after the leader "Philadelphia."
    And I think there is no connection between American Philadelphia and Amman

      . In the 3rd century BC, Ptolemy II Philadelphus, Pharoah of Ptolemaic Egypt, rebuilt the city and renamed it "Philadelphia", making it a regional center of Hellenistic culture.

    The sixth church of the Apocalypse is Philadelphia and Philadelphia is the sixth biggest city in USA. "The Church of Philadelphia - according to Archbishop Averkis, this is the penultimate period of the life of the church, the modern age, when the church has "little power" among mankind, and persecutions will begin again. In this period the spirit of humanism degenerated into spiritless materialism and misconstrued liberalism.", I think we are now already here, 6th charka...ending a cycle wich eventually will lead us to the 7th church of the Apocalypse, The Laodicean Church. The Laodicean Church is the top of the cross, expressed through Maniheism and ruled by Saturn. And the Philadelphia is ruled by Jupiter and the Slavic-Hyperborean mysteries.

    These fingers are not ancient, my cousin from Jarash city made them for city of Amman. The temple was complete,, but recently 100s years ago, when circassians came to Amman they scavenged it and took its rocks to make homes with it.
