Foreign fish species dominate six rivers in Klang Valley, says Fisheries Dept

The Fisheries Department (DOF) has revealed that six rivers in the Klang Valley are now monopolised by foreign fish species, such as ikan bandaraya (Amazon sailfin catfish), black tilapia and keli afrika (African catfish).
DOF director-general Datuk Adnan Hussain expressed serious concern over this issue, noting that the prevalence of these foreign species could hinder the development of ecosystem biodiversity in these rivers.

dekat sungai melawati jalan p4 sana pun banyak ikan talapia. orang indonesia bela kat kolam lepas tu bila air empangan di lepaskan air naik banjir ikan semua masuk sungai. sekarang sungai kat sana semua penuh dengan ikan talapia. dah takde spesis ikan tempatan.

ikan bandaraya boleh digunakan diguna untuk membuat pemakanan kucing / anjing dll. tetap ada subber protein yg tinggi. Kalau tangkapan boleh dijual saya rasa ramai yang berusaha kerana menjadi sumber rezeki, sekurang2 dpt si minyak motor atau secawan kopi dan roti telur.

More than 40 years ago the black tilapia was already found especially in the canals of the oil palm estate! Beats me when they claimed that tilapia is one of the species released by irresponsible people!😂 Fisheries department do your homework lah! For reasons unknown we know that political big fishes escape the dragnet while the small tilapia were hauled to court! 😂
