I was 22 and in the clubs when the song blew up. It was such a hit that people changed the name from parachute pants to Hammer pants. The song made millions he helped a lot of his friends with the money he made, he spent it all and taxes came after him. Now he's a minister in his old neighborhood out in California.
I’m a 68 year old White Woman born and raised in S.F.CA MC HAMMER IS A HERO his life story is real & more over an amazing man . There will only be 1 MC HAMMER ✌️
MC Hammer deserves ALL THE RESPECT, I never tire of watching the vid, & the grace & athleticism of the dancers, & I’ve always wondered who did the choreography bc god bless’em it’s awesome 💙 It’s iconic for sure
I'm so happy he went back to being a preacher he was there when Tupac was killed went back to his Roots a preacher man and still preaches to this day homage brother MC
People were going paleolithic when this came on. It was wild. Ice ice baby, pump up the jam, rythm is a dancer, etc. Awrsome times. Back in the late 1900's 😂
I... am one of those people that "were going crazy " back in the day... LOL... I was 17 when this came out... talk about having a BLAST w/this.. still a fav. of mine.. :)
In the late 80s & early 90s we worked up a good sweat on the dance floor. I'm so thankful I lived in an area that had weekly dances for teenagers. Cost us 50 cents to get in and it was so fun. That was the time of shows like Dance Party USA and Club MTV.
Everyone was dancing to this song back in the day! Pray is one of my faves by him and he has another one called Pumps and A Bump that I love the beat of and I think y`all will love both! Keep On Rockin'
People like to fake on Hammer but back then nobody could keep up with him. He also gave you this energy and a heck of a show. And yes everybody was dancing like this.
That was his style & the pants were named after him. "Hammer pants' LOL Kids wore them for a while & they eventually evolved into 'Parachute pants' which weren't 'quite' as crazy. LOL
My little girl was crazy about MC Hammer. Took her to his concert at Shreveport’s Hirsch Memorial Coliseum, where she was invited onstage with his posse. All of a sudden she got shy and balked. I neva let her live that down, 30 years later.
I was a freshman in high school when this came out and it was CRAZY!! Everyone was singing it and trying to do this dance...lol. You should react to "Pumps and a Bump" That's a good one too!
as kids, when this came on the tv with the music countdown show, we would attempt to learn the dance moves........At least in Australia anyway and then at school socials when it came on or any other sing with stong dance moves, those who learned it, would dance it
The dance when he was moving back n forth is called the "Chinese typewriter". They also did the Running man, the bump and Steve Martin in this video. r
"Don't Stop" by MC Hammer on The Arsenio Hall show is a good one. Loved your reaction. MC Hammer was the first of the rappere to have a big production of dancers and wild costumes when performing. His performances were phenomenal. Check out the America Music Awards performance.
Yo. Great reaction. Check out MC Hammer "Lets get it started" it's his first video and hit. You will feel the vibe of how we partied back in the day...
Back then it was common for the dancers to branch off and become famous. 2-Pac used to dance for Digital Underground and from MC Hammer came a group called 3-5-7 that was pretty dope too.
MC Hammer was a bat boy for the Oakland As when he was a kid. Then he moved to Atlanta and got gangsta. That's when I really liked him, "Pumps n Bump" and "It's All Good."
I have a GREAT HAMMER story. In the 90's i worked at Nashville Tn airport for a rental car company. Him and His Band rented a 15 passenger van with temp tags because it had just came off truck was brand new, 3 nonths later our company put out a warrent for STOLEN van, I was a manager so we got to drive lot cars home. My boss just threw on a license plate to the car I was taken home. The next morning at 4:30am on my way to work got pulled over for speeding, talked my way out of it got back on road not even 1/2 mile up the road I was surrounded by police cars and officers with WEAPONS DRAWN 😮😮😮, scared the shiat outta me. My name tag on my uniform did not match my drivers license because i go by a different name (another RED FLAG). I was pulled over because the tags that was on the MUSTANG I was driven had the STOLEN TAGS from BOBBY BROWN and Band VAN THEY RENTED 🤦♀🤦♀🤦♀ soooo trying to explain what happened with tag thing was (I am sooooo sure) a lil strange, however i did find out that Bobby Brown and BAND let the van drive off an inbankment (small cliff) and LEFT IT...However the scary thing was I had a ounce of weed on me and in the 90's thats a few yrs in the POPO...Talked my way outta everyting and NO they did not look in the brown bag in my front seat that had the POT in it (thank goodness) soooo all is good with BOBBY NOW but damn it back then it wasn't...🤣🤣🤣
That dance was called the typewriter. You din't see it much because no one but Hammer could do. There was a lot of ankles out there sporting ace bandages. I know I was there. Enjoy
