IKR? We had a weekend camp deal in 6th grade, but we all went in a bus. No parents driving us there and dropping us off for the summer. But I still feel all of these pangs of nostalgia when they show these scenes.
I went to music camp (IMA) and honesty it was so cool. I learned about dong structure, wrote and recorded my own songs, learned to play the drums and had a final concert with the other girls there. Just so so fun!

Demi does the shoulder shake thing during her final jam performance aaaannnd I thought wow this will be such a good dance move for me to do at the school talent show while I sing this song!! I just always like that this is "camp rock" and they mostly do hip hop stuff and there are people with woodwind instruments just hanging out. Nobody's learning how to play, say, a guitar.
Camp rock was the only Disney channel movie I was obsessed with. I remember jumping and dancing on my grandma’s bed while I sang my heart out to the songs. As an adult I know the movie is quite silly, but it will always be special to me!
I missed it when I was younger I think I was just a bit "too old" ( I def would have loved it though) and I didn't hate it as an adult! It was def cheesy which is why I gave it a miss but it's not like I didn't watch high school musical a bunch hahaha

I was an 8 year old boy when Camp Rock came out, and for like the rest of my childhood, I would sit in my room and recreate that scene where they were whispering “Shane’s looking for the girl” with my stuffed animals in my free time.

7:11 I’m pretty sure the reason they never eat the breakfast is because what we see happen once in a movie is actually several takes in reality. If the characters eat the breakfast, then they have to eat the breakfast the exact same way in every take. I’ve seen actors talk about being permanently put off a certain food because they HAD to eat it in a scene, and then had to do dozens of takes, eating the same thing over and over again. Even one bite means they have to get a whole new omelet for the next take. Plus, movie food has sometimes been sitting out for hours and may have been made inedible (such as cereal with glue instead of milk) so that it looks good for hours of shooting.
That's what I was thinking, too. Actors not eating is done for the sake of continuity. But then again, do TV movies really care about continuity? Just in this video Jamie pointed out the girl in the beige skirt walking three different directions in the same scene
Tom Hiddleston did an interview where he talked about eating a full plate of food for the first take of a film and he didn’t know he was gonna have to eat it several times, so he was so bloated by the end of filming 😂
Peggy is short for Margaret! Funny story- my grandma’s birth name was Peggy. She’d never heard of this Margaret thing. And back in the 60s, when women had babies, they usually gave them morphine or something to knock them completely out. Anyway, when she came to, and they handed my little baby dad to her, she saw the ID bracelet said this was Margaret’s baby. And she got all upset and thought someone switched the babies. Those nurses really took a liberty there. 😂

Camp Rock 2 is better because of the music and I like Demi better without the bangs and her style but I know she was on drugs and had a eating disorder and wasn’t in a good place and she had problems and was depressed and not happy

Yeah, it's the drawers at the bottom of the fridge. It's called a "crisper" because it's intended for storing vegetables and is meant to keep they crispy instead of wilty. I was babysitting when this movie came out and one set of kids that I watched at the time a brother and sister. This was the only movie they would watch. Camp rock is ingrained in my mind. I was in my teens when I babysat. Now I'm 32.
Man, my babysitter brought her own movies. Things like Nightmare on Elm Street, RoboCop, Candyman, and Terminator. She wouldn't let us watch crap like Camp Rock. I just now learned how much I owe her for doing things right.

I remember loving the camp rock movies, but then when I watched Demi’s documentary “simply complicated” on TH-cam, you realize that camp rock 2 had so much more drama behind the scenes, we’re talking beating up background dancers, getting fired from the tour, and there was so much more going on for Demi that was heartbreaking.
the amount of audio editing that goes into each one of your videos is incredible and well worth the effort because it genuinely makes scenes with copywrited music so much more entertaining.❤

Oh if you like Magically Reappearing Extras, let me tell you about Coat Girl! There's an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer called Never Kill a Boy on the First Date, and in the final scene (I believe), you can watch this one extra with this big red bag, huge blonde hair, and plaid coat walk by like 20 different times in different places and directions. Like there's a shot of her walking up the stairs behind Giles, they cut back to Buffy, then the next shot she's back at the bottom of the stairs and walking up again, etc.
I love Buffy and have rewatched the show every few years since it aired. I have to go watch that episode now. I’ve never noticed this big haired extra lol

The camp musical director is Julie Brown who was big in the 80's. I looked and she co-wrote this movie. Jaime should check out Earth Girls are Easy which is where i remember Julie Brown from. Its PG so maybe something you can review. Its ridiculous and campy and classic so probably something you'd enjoy even if you cant review it. Staring Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum with a very young Jim Carrey & Damon Wayans.
You HAVE to put that fall in the compilation. Also when you asked what comes to mind when someone says Demi it's only this movie. My kids watched nickelodeon and Disney channel a lot when this movie came out. Yes, I watched it all by myself as an adult, because of her beautiful voice. 😂
Answer to breakfast question! In production, food stylists and their teams are hired to make food and plate, make food look decent etc. That generally involves doctoring up food with all sorts of non-edible stuff so it stays looking good for multiple takes. If the action is for talent to actually bite into or eat the food - the food needs to be safe to consume which requires the food teams to continually actually cook food and make it pretty which is a big time suck during shoots. It sounds ridiculous (omelets are quick-whats the hold up) but that's really how it works. You have to reset, make each plate and angle as similar as possible for editing continuity. Hence, bite of a bagel, grabbing a fruit to go. It's a much faster, easier reset. Building the generous breakfast reads loving home, teen is bouncing out the door- what a rascal. We all feel the vibes but, It's a troupe that's low-key budget driven. There ya go! Bts magic. ✨
I remember growing up thinking Peggy was a weird name for Margret. One of the leaders at church had a daughter she named Margret but called Maggie. But her Maggie was named after her mom (Maggies gma) who was named Peggy as far as I knew. Thats when my mom had to explain the nickname. Still dont really understand it 20 years later but oh well
Rhyming nicknames were a thing in the middle ages so from Margaret you'd get: Meg, Maggie, Mog and then the rhyming Peg, Peggy, Pog. Mog. It's also where we get Dick from Richard.
I was also that 5-part harmony choir nerd. You absolutely have to review A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song. The music is overturned BUT really good. The story is cheesy, but Missy Pyle plays the stepmother and she is an absolute gem of an actor.
I only watched this movie because I was obsessed with the Jonas Brothers. I went Jonas concert after the movie came out and Demi was there signing camp rock songs with the Jonas brothers, and I think she opened for them too. I can't remember it's been 17 years.
This video awakened this childhood memory of mine. I was invited to a Camp Rock birthday party when I was in 2nd or 3rd grade. She had Pop Rocks and a Dance, Dance, Revolution video game, but I was so confused the whole time because I hadn't seen the movie. 😂😂😂

7:11 I’m pretty sure the reason they never eat the breakfast is because what we see happen once in a movie is actually several takes in reality. If the characters eat the breakfast, then they have to eat the breakfast the exact same way in every take. I’ve seen actors talk about being permanently put off a certain food because they HAD to eat it in a scene, and then had to do dozens of takes, eating the same thing over and over again. Even one bite means they have to get a whole new omelet for the next take. Plus, movie food has sometimes been sitting out for hours and may have been made inedible (such as cereal with glue instead of milk) so that it looks good for hours of shooting.

Tom Hiddleston did an interview where he talked about eating a full plate of food for the first take of a film and he didn’t know he was gonna have to eat it several times, so he was so bloated by the end of filming 😂

Peggy is short for Margaret! Funny story- my grandma’s birth name was Peggy. She’d never heard of this Margaret thing. And back in the 60s, when women had babies, they usually gave them morphine or something to knock them completely out. Anyway, when she came to, and they handed my little baby dad to her, she saw the ID bracelet said this was Margaret’s baby. And she got all upset and thought someone switched the babies. Those nurses really took a liberty there. 😂

I was babysitting when this movie came out and one set of kids that I watched at the time a brother and sister. This was the only movie they would watch. Camp rock is ingrained in my mind. I was in my teens when I babysat. Now I'm 32.
Man, my babysitter brought her own movies. Things like Nightmare on Elm Street, RoboCop, Candyman, and Terminator. She wouldn't let us watch crap like Camp Rock. I just now learned how much I owe her for doing things right.

I remember loving the camp rock movies, but then when I watched Demi’s documentary “simply complicated” on TH-cam, you realize that camp rock 2 had so much more drama behind the scenes, we’re talking beating up background dancers, getting fired from the tour, and there was so much more going on for Demi that was heartbreaking.

Oh if you like Magically Reappearing Extras, let me tell you about Coat Girl! There's an episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer called Never Kill a Boy on the First Date, and in the final scene (I believe), you can watch this one extra with this big red bag, huge blonde hair, and plaid coat walk by like 20 different times in different places and directions. Like there's a shot of her walking up the stairs behind Giles, they cut back to Buffy, then the next shot she's back at the bottom of the stairs and walking up again, etc.
I love Buffy and have rewatched the show every few years since it aired. I have to go watch that episode now. I’ve never noticed this big haired extra lol

Jaime should check out Earth Girls are Easy which is where i remember Julie Brown from. Its PG so maybe something you can review. Its ridiculous and campy and classic so probably something you'd enjoy even if you cant review it. Staring Geena Davis and Jeff Goldblum with a very young Jim Carrey & Damon Wayans.

I was in the visual and performing arts program at my high school and I assure you, very few of us randomly danced or sang in the morning! 🤣
Answer to breakfast question! In production, food stylists and their teams are hired to make food and plate, make food look decent etc. That generally involves doctoring up food with all sorts of non-edible stuff so it stays looking good for multiple takes. If the action is for talent to actually bite into or eat the food - the food needs to be safe to consume which requires the food teams to continually actually cook food and make it pretty which is a big time suck during shoots. It sounds ridiculous (omelets are quick-whats the hold up) but that's really how it works. You have to reset, make each plate and angle as similar as possible for editing continuity. Hence, bite of a bagel, grabbing a fruit to go. It's a much faster, easier reset. Building the generous breakfast reads loving home, teen is bouncing out the door- what a rascal. We all feel the vibes but, It's a troupe that's low-key budget driven. There ya go! Bts magic. ✨

I remember growing up thinking Peggy was a weird name for Margret. One of the leaders at church had a daughter she named Margret but called Maggie. But her Maggie was named after her mom (Maggies gma) who was named Peggy as far as I knew. Thats when my mom had to explain the nickname. Still dont really understand it 20 years later but oh well
Rhyming nicknames were a thing in the middle ages so from Margaret you'd get: Meg, Maggie, Mog and then the rhyming Peg, Peggy, Pog. Mog. It's also where we get Dick from Richard.
I was also that 5-part harmony choir nerd. You absolutely have to review A Cinderella Story: Once Upon A Song. The music is overturned BUT really good. The story is cheesy, but Missy Pyle plays the stepmother and she is an absolute gem of an actor.
