I can still hear my grandmother singing this as she did her housework, or while cooking, etc. She didn’t have more than a 6th grade education, but she read her KJV Bible every day. She got to fly away a few years ago. I’m so thankful to Jesus that our family was blessed to have her here until she was 92 years old. I can’t wait to see her again. She helped raise me to know Jesus as my Savior and to trust in Him always, and I am now raising my children to know Jesus and have a personal relationship with Him as their Savior, trusting Him in all things. What a blessing to pass down to my children knowledge of the Bible, teach them the gospel of Christ, and watch them grow in their love of our Lord Jesus Christ. Having Jesus as our personal Savior is the greatest treasure there is.❤️
My 91 yr old father passed away Jan 31 2023 as my daughter and I sang this song to him. He wanted to spend his birthday Feb 1st with our heavenly father. What a glorious time he had!!!! Forever in my ❤️

Special song to me. When my almost 96 year old Mom died her pastor heard from friends in 3 different churches/denominations in their small city. Everyone was calling to say "I don't know what hymns are chosen but you have to have "I'll Fly Away" as it was May's favourite". As she lay dying, unconscious, I would sing to her. When I sang this song her lips moved as in her mind she was singing along with me.

I had the absolute privilege of hearing the final hour of the Opry on a Saturday night in '74 on cassette tape, which [unfortunately!] eventually either disappeared or self-destructed, with Roy Acuff and the gang singing this song. Wish I still had it.....I don't remember who else was on the Opry that night, but it sure was great to hear them sing that song. Always did like it. ["Precious Mem'ries, how they linger....."] I usually stayed up for the last hour on Saturdays, just for the old Southern Gospel classics they would sing. Still remember most of the old songs yet, even though it's been TOO MANY years.....
Loved it when the Gospel Quartet on "Hee Haw" would close the show with one of the old classic hymns. Brings a tear to the eye now, 'cause it was one of the few shows my parents and I actually all liked and watched together. They're long-gone now but the songs still remain, although not too many people left who remember them any more. Modern worship music is good, but this was the golden age of Southern Gospel when these songs were written/made popular. Hope they never truly completely disappear, as - if we do - we will have lost a large piece of our musical heritage, and that would be so sad.
This is real music. Standing out in the middle of nowhere having to harmonize and actually sing without any auto-tune or mechanical assistance. We need much more of this!

when i was a kid i grew up in church and i sang in the choir. this is how we sang that song. we always got request to sing this. my dad loved this song. every time i hear it i think of him. now that im older i find myself singing it again. we never stray to far for Gods love.

My momma sister,and myself sang this after visiting my other sisters grave.My mother died of a broken heart short after at 67. We felt uplifted as we sang.
This was one of my mother's favorite songs and I was so moved that my own granddaughter got some of her musician.friends to play it and sing at my mother's graveside service.

My favorite kind of music! Grew up with this on front porch of my Grandparents! Mom played guitar, uncle the banjo! Loved how I grew up!
I mostly listened to classic rock and alot of heavy metal but since ive heard buy the mark i liked what i got to hear. Iam have been saved because of our lord jesus through his precious gift to join him in heaven and many other ways by. Keeping me here anyways i like how fast these folks can pick they just jam. I'm leaning toward gospel bluegrass
My Grandma asked us to sing this at her burial. We printed out the words to this and "In the Garden," her two favorites. My husband took his acoustic guitar and we sang to her as we laid her to rest. She was so happy to be going Home!

I had the absolute privilege of hearing the final hour of the Opry on a Saturday night in '74 on cassette tape, which [unfortunately!] eventually either disappeared or self-destructed, with Roy Acuff and the gang singing this song. Wish I still had it.....I don't remember who else was on the Opry that night, but it sure was great to hear them sing that song. Always did like it. ["Precious Mem'ries, how they linger....."] I usually stayed up for the last hour on Saturdays, just for the old Southern Gospel classics they would sing. Still remember most of the old songs yet, even though it's been TOO MANY years.....
Loved it when the Gospel Quartet on "Hee Haw" would close the show with one of the old classic hymns. Brings a tear to the eye now, 'cause it was one of the few shows my parents and I actually all liked and watched together. They're long-gone now but the songs still remain, although not too many people left who remember them any more. Modern worship music is good, but this was the golden age of Southern Gospel when these songs were written/made popular. Hope they never truly completely disappear, as - if we do - we will have lost a large piece of our musical heritage, and that would be so sad.

when i was a kid i grew up in church and i sang in the choir. this is how we sang that song. we always got request to sing this. my dad loved this song. every time i hear it i think of him. now that im older i find myself singing it again. we never stray to far for Gods love.
