  • Join Architects Samrah Aamir & Sardar Ahmed Raza on a tour of a beautiful House designed by Coalesce Design Studio. This house is situated in KDA Society, Karachi.
This Feature is a product of Banjaiga & powered by Gobi's Paints & Casa Mia Dreams.
    Production House: Ninja Films
The Kapadia Residence is the culmination of strong design tools used to sensationalize a visual experience through the provoking of different senses. Evocative of a beach house (as per the client's request), the abundance of natural light, the constant gush of wind, an external terrace, and the calming white exterior advocate calm and peace within a private neighborhood.
The objective of the Architect was to freeze his acquired perception of what architecture of the moment is, through the built form, open spaces, planning, and visual experience, all the way down to the finer details. This intention alone is what makes the house inspiring, to be able to depict the architect’s impression within a built space in order for all to comment or respond to.
This design proclaims a lateral gesture; it’s a two-family house, so the consensus was to stack one residence on top of the other to create two apartments. One is approached directly from the street front, and the other from an axial staircase that is placed up against the main façade. The plan, designed on a 15’ by 15’ grid, includes two voids, one placed in the east and one towards the west. The light wells alleviate the density of the model, which in section, also places emphasis on defragmenting the mass, creating drawings in which all lines match, or flow into one another, all while allowing for naturally lit spaces. This, according to the architect, ensures balance, continuity, and consistency. In section, the whole image should read as one; all lines, shapes, and indents respond to one another compositionally.
Residing on a corner plot, there is an attempt to screen views towards neighboring homes and to focus on the park. The wind-oriented façade is composed of a weave of hollow concrete blocks. This screen, aside from breaking the stark monumentality of the outwardly solid façade, provides shade from the sun as well as conducive for wind permeability.

By looking at it one should expect this part of the city is safe enough to craft such a stunning piece of art ....reminds me of some art galleries in Columbia .

Very Nice. The amount of light, aesthetically pleasing architecture, little playful kind of mood here n there, the loft, common spaces. wonderful.
Wish i could see the entire house, down the wooden stair, extended kitchen n all.
Distracting video! but wonderful well thought house.

Firstly, it's good to see opposing views in the comments.
The layout of the house does have food for thought for anyone planning to design a house. But also has space for valid criticisms of both personal and professional nature.
Secondly, I believe if two professional architects are reviewing a building, they must do so by using the knowledge of this beautiful field.
But the review looks like sponsored praise by amateur fans like me, who have a very superficial knowledge of the field ( compared to the in-depth architecture reviews from western producers ) .
Now I know that channel is meant for the public but still... It's not "asking a random person review".
The video is more like the hose is up for sale video, unfortunately.

beautiful design but i wonder what happened to the open to sky basement gym area during the monsoon storms, if they didn't think of a solution to that then i'm afraid it cannot be regarded as good design

Dress of the girls doesn't represent either her religious or cultural values but violates them instead.
Vile and lewd clothing, I don't know why some girls think it as a disgrace to have a dupatta after spending day or two of university life!
