I have Bipolar disorder, and from what I've seen you can make jokes about make jokes about that everyday of the week and nobody bats an eye. The thing is I can take a joke about it, even though I'd wager it probably has a greater impact on my life, and the people around me, than alopecia would. Hell, I'll probably laugh the hardest if it's a god joke that's rooted in an accurate observation.
