Great work dj! That first Ute is a 1946/47 Ford, my grandfather restored one when I was younger and have come to have a real soft spot for that shape. The other Ute is a Hillman minx, also badged as a commer- very rare nowadays especially in Ute form.

That 1955 Ford ute was built by Ford Australia and all the Customline derived Utes were named “Mainline” not Mainland as you said that’s a brand of cheese this was the first year in Australia with the OHV 272 ci Y block engine from the last of the 239 sidewackers like that previous 46 Ford ute that had one in it, all the mainlines had 272 V8’s no sixes were offered and were replaced when the first coupe utility Ford Falcon was released in 1960 with the XK model if you wanted a larger Ute or pickup from the Falcon you could only get the larger F series trucks from F100 up and they were available a bit later with 240 and 300 ci sixes as well as 292 Y blocks

Was shooting on a farm in WA once and came across a rare one - the remains of a pre-Holden Holden, back when they were body builders for imported chevy vehicles. Not much left, but could tell the doors were wooden :)

My uncles had a cattle station just out side of Charleville (qld) at the "rubbish tip" on the property there was a heap of old wrecks from t model ford's to 1960s ford sedans and wagons and old holdens, I clearly remember a little old Austin that was all complete.
Wish they still owned the property id love to get my hands on some of them old cars now

So turns out I was right all along, the little British ute is indeed a Hillman Mark IV ute, also known as a Commer Utility.
I can only find one article on the car and according to that article it was "apparently only sold in Australia and only a few hundred made, with about 2-3 driveable ones left in the country."

No wasn’t a Flower car thing it was a 46 Ford or Ford deluxe coupe utility these were only built in Australia and as a matter of fact the coupe utility was invented by an Australian car designer by the name of Lewis Bandt in the early 1930’s he worked for Ford Australia and Ford Australia always built Utes right up to the end of production the last Falcon ute the FGx in 2016, you are right saying the Chevy ‘s first engine was the 265 ci small block these were not offered in Australia even though we had the 55 Chevy but General Motors -Holden only offered the Blue Flame stove bolts in our 55, 56, 57 and up to the early 60’s when the 283 was offered and in the same year Pontiacs also, I owned a 56 4 Door pillarless Chev Belair 210 that had a 265 with 3 on the tree back in 1970 it was an imported fisher body car but think it was a Canadian build

@@jamesgovett2501 great bit of information . Wasn't 100% about the flower car . But have seen similar cars listed as flower cars . Maybe they were miss informed . I'm no expert on Australian cars by any means. In fact I didn't even know how cool they were till I watched Madmax . And the holden based GTO/ PontiacG8 / Impala police interceptor/ were introduced in the US . Thank you for the information I'm always willing to learn more about any vehicle. I've been involved with cars for years but American cars . Nothing as cool as a Falcon XB or a classic Holden . I've watched videos of power skids/ rolling burn out's you guys know how to have a good time. I think I was born in the wrong country 😆..
