What always tickled me was that from what I read, they were really good friends in real life.
One thing I've noticed is that when Edith or Louise address the other family, it's either, "Mr. Bunker or Mrs. Bunker", or "Mr. Jefferson or Mrs. Jefferson", but when Archie and George talk, it's just "Bunker or Jefferson."
Louise always says Archie and Edith. Edith says Louise and Mr. Jefferson. Archie says Jefferson and Mrs. J or Louise. George says Bunker and Edith but sometimes calls her Mrs. Bunker.
I love every scene where both are arguing and making fun of each other, great comedy.

$20 in 1974 was really huge, today with inflation it's worth $120.
And in a few more years (like 6), it will be worth 0ver $175 if the inflation rate continues at the current rate and the current administration is still at the helms.
@@jerrscott6373 guess you have forgotten that inflation was big even during Nixon, Reagan and Bush Senior administration. If you think deflation is a solution to America's problem then good luck because deflation is never a solution and deflation will make America into a great depression era.
This gets much funnier when Mike uses simple math to solve the dilemma, which leads to Archie being totally confused.

This show never gets old all in the family really paved the way for the Jefferson’s too have their own spin-off they don’t make show like this anymore and Archie and George Jefferson arguments are funny people couldn’t handle this type of comedy anymore in 2022
They really can't, because before people ridiculed these characters, but today, some empathize with them and want it to be a part of normal society, which is a problem.

It always amazed how different the actors were from their characters. Sherman Helmsley was usually very soft-spoken and Carroll O’Connor was bright and kind-hearted. They were both such incredible actors.

These were the best times. People had sense of humors, no one got offended by comedy. These were incredibly talented actors and actresses. Families sat together and watched. I miss these days and shows!
Love these old AITF clips, but they also conjure memories of a better time that ain't coming back.

It wasn't like this tv show in the 70's. We had gas rationing, a war, skyrocketing prices, consumer goods and electronics cost a much larger portion of a family's income than today, etc. Fun to fantasize about life being better then...

I was in elementary school when these shows came out. They were funny then and they are funnier now. We know we will never see real comedy like this again, but thank God we have these videos.

He is a little better than Archie. During The Jeffersons run, he admitted a few times, where he was wrong. While he did make comments, he was, even at certain times, nice to his white neighbors. I said certain times, where Archie was never kind to other races. Let's face it, he had a lot of patience towards Mr. Bentley who was always ringing their bell. I would have felt like slamming the door on a few times, and I am white.
Between the two, being white, I will choose George over Archie any day.

False memory.People did get hurt by ignorant bigoted remarks but the bigot was either clueless or didnt care. Creator Norman Lear let Archies character talk like that only to set him up for a comeuppance. He was shocked that bigoted viewers didnt catch that part and instead admired Archies ignorant remarks
