    Glad to see the virago still going strong, that sure is a contraption of foot pegs and linkages haha

      Sure was, i was tempted to not bother with putting half of it back on.

    Corrosion on these bloody bikes is a mare, that was a good fix, I thought it might be the torsion spring on the other side behind the clutch assembly.

      I was worried that it might have been that too. Hence the extra gasket, just got lucky this time 👍👍

    Do you think it would be possible to flush the shaft hole with carb cleaner and fix the issue without having to disassemble anything?

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Unfortunately not, but you should only have to take the one cover off. All the dirt and grit was behind the cover.

    Great video 😍😍 gonna have to try it on mine . I do not have problem to shift gears but coming back to neutral specially if standing at the place is really difficult 😢😢😢

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cool stuff, glad you found it helpful. If you are getting issues shifting to neutral, that could be some other little issues inside the engine. Its probably the locator spring has worn out. To change it, you will need to take the clutch off from the other side of the engine to get access.

    The return spring on my clutch actuator has snapped. Cannot find anywhere how to replace it. Any ideas?

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Id have to look into suppliers for spares, msp.eu are good for stuff like that though

    • @Shed_Heeran
      @Shed_Heeran 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Thanks for the reply. I can get a replacement part. It's just removing the bloody thing I am having problems with haha. Is it a case of taking the crank case and clutch to bits to get the push leaver assembly out to replace the spring?

    • @Shed_Heeran
      @Shed_Heeran 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Seems like a massive drama for slipping a new spring in place. Unfortunately without it it seems I don't have any freeplay so the clutch plates won't go fully into place.

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@Shed_Heeran you would have to tale the clutch cover off to get access, but if memory serves, you dont have to take the clutch apart, the spring is withing the case. Without taking a look to refresh myself i cant know for sure. But its not a massive job to change the clutch out.

      @Shed_Heeran 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@BareBonesMotorcycles its the spring on the external arm that has snapped the one that connects to the cable. I know on the 750 it's internal and pretty easy to replace. The 535 seems a lot more complicated.

    Is it possible to set the same gearbox on the xv 535 virago? I have a problem with it being hard to get from neutral to second gear. Everything else works great just that problem. Greetings from Serbia

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      To get to the gear selector, you have to go in from the generator side, its pretty in depth. Have you tried an oil change? Also, the virago 535 is pretty common for stiff gear changes in low gears.

      @@BareBonesMotorcycles
      the motorcycle stood for a long time. It hasn't been driven for 15 years. It is difficult to go into second gear from neutral and when the engine is off. I heard that there is a gear selector on the right side of the unit, somewhere near the clutch and that it can be steled there.

    is it me that the tire in front looked like it's mounted on backwards?

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      In this case, its you lol. The front tire on the virago was on the right way. 👍👍

    • @HighAway
      @HighAway 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      What tire is it? Does it have a tire rotation arrow stamped? If not, I think it's looks better the other way around!

    • @BareBonesMotorcycles
      @BareBonesMotorcycles  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      I think they were cobras on there. And i know they were on the right way. The only time i run tires backwards is when i want to.

    Glad it was just a bit of muck, and not something with the mechanism in the gear box, or the clutch pack hanging up. Sorry your neighbors use your kids for furthering their personal agenda's with your motorbiking interests. Warm regards.
