    I ordered and installed this kit this summer and highly recommend it for someone looking to get more performance out of their 535 for a relatively cheap buck and very little work. With debaffled original exhaust and the jets to match it is really a noticable difference from stock. My bike had an irritating dead spot right before it hit the powerband but that is all gone after installing this kit (in addition to the general power gain). Sounds much better with debaffled exhaust too!
    I accidentally had the needle and its spring drop into the bowl of the carbeurettor but it wasn’t that hard to fix!
    Great product.

      Thanks for the great feedback Måns! We think the debaffled stock exhaust sounds great as well - and gives a nice little power boost too, especially with the kit. Happy New Year :)

    Have a 99 535 sitting in my shop for couple years. Was a project for a friend of mine. Ended up letting me have it when he had gotten a new truck. Spent two days on it fixing electrical rebuilding carbs and new plugs. Got it running last night. Have it for sale but after fixing and understanding how it works I like it now. Then this video pops up on my feed today. I think im going to keep now 😂

    Can recommend. Installed last spring, no more constant exhaust popping with open pipes. In Finland with 3.5 turns out. It seems a little rich and kinda jerks/stalls/lags at the very top of the rpm when accelerating fast, this could be down to other factors too or simply fine tuning on my part. Other than that bike runs fine.
    Very easy to install and great support from maker. Come spring I will test with Aliexpress drag pipes with 4 turns and dyno the bike, before putting it up for sale. I'll be sure to report my findings.
    Got few short vids of the bike on my channel if anyone is interested

    I have just fitted this kit to my Bike, and can say there was a vast improvement in performance, so I'm pleased and can vouch that this kit works. In this kit two main jets are supplied with one of them being .5 larger than the other ! Reading through the comments I noticed a Question : (The larger jet goes to the front cylinder right) Jake you replied, Yes. I can't understand this because : It is a fact commonly known with most Air cooled V twins that the Rear cylinder runs hotter than the front cylinder because it does not receive as much airflow as the front . To my mind the larger (richer) jet should be fitted to the rear cylinder to aid in the cooling of this rear cylinder ! Or am I missing something here ! Perhaps some body else can chime in and give their ideas on this. also I have got to go back in to the carbs as in my application I had to increase the size of the pilot jets to get a richer mixture for Idle and off Idle, standard pilot size was 35, it has a 40 in at present but still needs another larger pilot will try 42.5 next because I know I am getting close now, bike runs really well with this set up, so while I'm in the carbs I will be putting that larger main jet in the rear carb. IMHO

    • @JadusMotorcycleParts
      @JadusMotorcycleParts  2 ปีที่แล้ว +5

      @malcombrady1958 Thanks for the feedback! Great to hear! To answer your question: The front cylinder runs cooler and therefore consumes more air (colder air is denser than hot air) which means you have to match this extra air consumption with more fuel. During dyno testing, we tried the opposite (larger jet at rear) and lost power, plus the front cylinder showed signs of lean running on the plug ;)

Could you give me a rough idea of how many turns/screws I should be adjusting my air/fuel ratio to ? i'm getting a lot of popping when idling and deaccelerating. Even seen a few blue flame pops. Hi Blake, we have sold over a hundred kits and have had overwhelmingly positive feedback from our customers. Just read many of the comments below and some of the more detailed reviews on our website. You can even see peoples comments on the Virago facebook groups. We feel the kit is a great deal for what you get, considering all the hours and cost of research and development and testing that has gone into the design of the kit. Don't forget, the foam filter is custom designed for us and made by a professional sports air filter company and the bellmouth itself is made from billet CNC machined aluminium. If you want to see results, you can see the different dyno graphs on our website, where we have tested the kit on 4 different dynos, with 3 different operators and on 2 different continents. You can even see some of the dyno testing in this video: th-cam.com/video/mgnW5ZW2BLE/w-d-xo.html&ab_channel=JadusMotorcycleParts

    @JadusMotorcyleParts : this air filter kit is no longer available on your webshop? Checked at your reseller in Spain too.
    Some technical questions : I was thinking about à Dynojet kit. With OEM air filter, as we don't have other options, and stock exhaust (baffled).
    And I stumbled on this video...
    So now I'm questionning myself : which one?
    If I put the Dynojet, compatibility with your air filter and jets after that? Useless as I should choose one or the other?
    What's the maintenance procedure for your air filter?
    What about heavy rain or washing? The air filter gets soaked? With the OEM one, the air inlet (1996 model here) is sheltered...
    I'm in France but my XV comes from Portugal and the jettings are different (air pilot jet 170 vs 70, the other air pilot jet jet is 70, main gas jet 107.5 and needles are different). No worries?
    Hopefully you'll read here. Usefull for others. Or I'll try on your email.
    Regards.

Our kit comes with a collection of genuine Mikuni main jets to suit different exhaust set ups plus jetting instructions. From our testing the different needle jets still work very well with our jetting recommendations. The air filter is covered by the tank so is never exposed. In the install video we recommend reinstalling the filter front cover as well - which helps stock rain/water coming in. The filter is a foam filter so it is cleaned and re-oiled the same way any foam filter is. You can buy cleaning kits here: ramair-filters.co.uk/ck-003-foam-air-filter-economy-cleaning-kit-polymer-treatment/

    I am very interested in your intake kit! However: On my XV535, the mixture screw on one carburettor is tight and cannot be adjusted (probably corrosion). Since this can't be fixed that easily: Could I also install your intake with the standard carburettor settings (only two instead of three turns of the mixture screws)? Would you still notice an improvement in performance? Or, would it not be worth the effort or even be harmful to the motorbike? TIA for your answer.

    cut the hole bigger in the air filter it pretty much matches the size as the kit. then rejet your carby with a 145 jet. for the hole follow the rim that is already there the filter sits in there nice and is the size of the hole if you cut the top out as said that will open it up to the 31.2 hole size of the incert they sell to hold the filter on top and open up the radius of the hole then use the same density foam on top of the new sized hole to keep shit out and bam. does the same for around 30 to 40 dollars..

    Would there be any issue with removing the air intake 'pod' on the later viragos? Always hated the look. Do they do much to channel the air or would it work just as well without the silver pod?

    • @JadusMotorcycleParts
      @JadusMotorcycleParts  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Charlie, there would not be any issue at all. It works just as well without the pod - which picks up air from right above the hot cylinder head (not good)! I also think that pod is annoying - I would remove both if it weren't for all the electrics inside the one on the left hand side. The only issue removing the right one entirely would be the slightly ugly frame being exposed underneath. But maybe you or we could do something creative there too ;)

    Sorry for my question being out of topic but i have this bike and it was running, had to travel to my country and let it sitting for 7 months, now i came back and got a new battery for the bike but i have a problem.
    It starts and runs for 10 seconds and start to die till its stops (just the engine runs, i could manage to roll with the bike)
    Sometimes it will start and most of the tries with the start button it will simply wont start, the spark plugs are working correctly so i dont know what else to do, it has new fuel on.
    There is this thing on the left side, inside a chromed cap, i believe its related to the fuel system and maybe the problem could be there?

    • @JadusMotorcycleParts
      @JadusMotorcycleParts  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Blash. It could be any number of things, difficult to diagnose in a comments section. But your best bet would be to check that the carbs are getting fuel - ie. is the fuel pump delivering fuel? Then you can open the carbs and check to see if the jets are blocked and clean them out. The things in the pod on the left side of the bike differ from model to model. Sometimes it is the electrics for the bike, sometimes it will be the air injection system (to lower emissions at idle). Either way, I don't think your problem will be found there. It is most likely fuel delivery or carburetor related ;)

    Hey man. Really curios about your opinion. How bad is it if the engine leaks oil from the top of the back cilinder ?

    • @JadusMotorcycleParts
      @JadusMotorcycleParts  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It depends... old bikes in general leak oil in some places due to different reasons. It could be just a simple thing like a tired hardened oring that isn't forming a seal any more... or it could be leaking from around the cam chain tunnel... those things are no big deal. As long as you keep an eye on the oil level until you decide to replace orings and gaskets etc. It is worse if the head is leaking oil through the valve seals, then the engine performance is affected. It is also more difficult to replace those seals - it is often a head-off job.

      simon dring hi! Yes, the filter draws air from under the tank. When removing the stock system a lot of extra space under there becomes available. If you have the stock intake, you most likely will not need to adjust the main jets. But you should definitely adjust the air/fuel screw so that it is between 3-4 turns out. This is so you allow more fuel to flow at lower rpms. If you have a modified intake you should adjust the main jets as well.

    So you completely do not use the intake plastics under the tank? Discard them altogether? Just deflector and filter.

    • @JadusMotorcycleParts
      @JadusMotorcycleParts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Correct! This saves a little weight as well. But mostly, it opens up space under the tank for the bellmouth and 'above air box' air filter. The deflector is not needed either if you only ride in good weather - this allows for more cold air to flow into the airbox as well, but less moisture protection if it rains.

    one question. How do you stop water and moisture to come inside air filter. If its rainy water will go under tank for sure. my 1989 doesn't have that deflector that sit on 2 rubbers

    • @JadusMotorcycleParts
      @JadusMotorcycleParts  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      Hi Dado, good question. In this case, the deflector is quite important - to deflect away rain from the filter from forward facing rain (when riding). But the filter is also very well protected from the tank remember - it sits underneath so it never gets rain from above. It is an assessment you have to make, how much riding do you do in the rain?

    • @dadobojanic
      @dadobojanic 3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@JadusMotorcycleParts i ride allot in rain. And yes i wasn't talking about rain from top but forward facing rain. My virago doesn't have deflector as i said above. l could do some 3d printing of deflector that you put first on rubber ring before the sponge part, thus making shield for it. And i got nice idea how to do it. If i get this intake kit ill def make improvement regarding that deflector. I made lots of stuff by myself, regulator rectifier with voltage adjustment, i re-winded my old stator, i have put fuel level gauge, got nice digital tacho with rpm. Currently working on carbs they are pain in the a@@ for now. I am still learning. You mention allot of jet changes in video. Where do you source them because i need few sizes to finally tune my virago. After carbs are done next thing i hope will be jadus kit that i promote to my friends who are virago 535 riders. Hi Emil! Valid question :) We always display the price without VAT first - because all of our customers outside of the EU (USA, Australia, Canada etc) do not need to pay VAT. However, all EU member states must pay this tax so we add it at the end of the checkout process - and to make sure it is not a surprise to our customers, we write that price in the description as well. So yes, 136Euro is the price for EU customers and shipping is 20Euro accross Europe. Thanks for your interest!

    couldn't you just take the top cover black thing off. and drill holes in to the air filter top the stock one. and then rejet ya bike.and or if you cut the tops out of the stock air filter bit leave bits to hold the inner circle it is pretty much making it the same as the air intake in your kit. just put some of the same density foam on top to stop shit getting in then yer. rejet i guessing from only being 1 more turn out it will be the next jet up from stock and maybe 2 up from stock on the new jet.

      @@JadusMotorcycleParts it would work your kit just made the hole bigger for air and let more fuel come through with a bigger jet. which is exactly what cutting the top out of the filter would do. your clip in mount makes the hole a raidus of 31.2 squared you can get the same by cutting the top out the air filter because there is enough room on it to make it 31.2 squared. which is just a little bit less the the actual opening as in the hole the filter goes in to.
