Our FIRST TIME IN SINGAPORE! | Asia's Richest Country SHOCKED US 🇸🇬

  • We finally made it to SINGAPORE, the world's greenest country! For our first time in Singapore, we will be exploring many of the incredible sights in the city and giving you our first reactions and first impressions of Singapore! While Singapore is Asia's most modern city, that also means that Singapore is Asia's Most Expensive city, so we will only be staying one night in Lion City before heading off to our next adventures in Malaysia.
    In this video, we will be exploring some of the most famous areas of Singapore. We started the day flying into the world-famous Singapore Airport, known to be the best airport in the world before heading to our hotel which was essentially the cheapest hotel in Singapore. After that, we headed to the Suntect Mall for some lunch and decided to eat at a famous Singaporean restaurant called Ya Kun Kaya Toast and do our first-ever Singapore kaya toast taste test.
    We spent the rest of the day on our feet walking around the incredible Singapore Bay area. We saw famous sights like the Merlion and the Marina Bay Sands Hotel and were shocked by how amazing the Singapore skyline was.
    We ended up spending some time in the Gardens by the Bay which was amazing and ended the day trying Singaporean street noodles for the first time!
    Overall it was an awesome day in Singapore and we'll be back to explore more soon!

    If you are really traveling on a budget, you could save a bunch of money by using the public transport system. The buses and subway are clean, reliable, frequent, very affordable and go everywhere. Also research the ubiquitous "hawker centers", where you can get a wide variety of food like you did in that Marina Bay Food Court, but at 1/3 the price.

    • @Talamasca
      @Talamasca 7 หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      So true, that’s why i’m not buying that they are budget travelers as what they claim to be. They basically went around the city using Grab which is more than thrice as pricey than riding the bus, MRT and LRT. Also did not avoid dining at Suntec and Marina which offer hella expensive food 😂😂😂

    That's KAYA with salted butter. Kaya is very common in Singapore/Malaysia. Made from eggs, coconut, sugar and pandan. You should have ordered the set that comes with the half boiled eggs, add some soya sauce and pepper in it and perhaps dip your toast into the eggs mix and eat together instead. Kaya and butter toast is a typical breakfast item in Singapore and Malaysia.
    For cheaper food alternatives, go to the hawker centres instead. There are a few mrt lines going at Suntec City. Perhaps you should have taken the train/bus they are much cheaper. That's what most of the locals travel by as it's cheapest and very convenient. Just tap your card with paywave function.
    Those are Chinese sausage not hotdog in the char kway tiao😂You should squeeze the lime into the noodles or chilli sauce. You guys should have taken a spoon as well easier to deshell with fork and spoon lol

    The stuff that came with the French Toast and was inside the butter sandwich is actually called Kaya, which is a bread spread made from Sugar, Coconut Cream, the juice from Pandan Leaves and Eggs. 2 types of Kaya can be found locally at supermarkets, the most commonly consumed green coloured Nyonya Kaya and the less common brown coloured Hainanese Kaya, which contains honey. The perceived sweetness from the Butter Toast is actually from the Kaya, because the sliced butter found in the toast is actually salted butter.

    Singapore is cleaner but Japan is much better. It's less difficult to keep a country of only 5.5 million people clean. Tokyo alone has 14 million people. That's also why Singapore has a high gdp per capita and sometimes dubbed the "Richest country in Asia".

    Do try out the soft boiled eggs when go have Kaya Toast again. A full set consists of Kaya Butter Toast, Soft Boiled Eggs and a drink (usually hot coffee or tea). Locals like to pair their Soft Boiled Eggs with Dark Soy Sauce and White Pepper Powder. Based on what I personally observe, locals rarely drink ice cold drinks when eating Kaya Butter Toast and Soft Boiled Eggs since it is traditionally consumed during breakfast.

    • @JSimHZ
      @JSimHZ 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@user-lf2jz1nn3q Yes, I am in Singapore now because I am a Singaporean. About the COVID situation, I am not too sure, but mask-wearing for the general population for activities like going to a friend's or relative's house is currently not mandatory, but highly recommended. It is currently only mandatory for the healthcare, service and hawker sector.
      A typical Singaporean is only required to wear a mask if they are unwell and heading to see a doctor, seeing a dentist or visiting someone at a hospital.

      The web describes it this way: A delectable local jam derived from eggs, coconut milk and fragrant leaves from the pandan plant. Kaya means “rich” in Malay which best describes the exquisite taste. Perfect with buttered toast or plain toast, for breakfast or tea time.
      That is amazing to me as in the Philippines there is the phrase “may kaya” (having kaya) means one is rich. Ha!
