👋Thanks for your great explanations, Chris, and also for showing the individual steps or the individual pictures that underpin the progress of the painting; very useful indeed❤
You’re an incredible teacher. I bought all my supplies abs will start your courses soon. I’ll def be checking out your patreon as well. Thank you so much!
Well, after buying your portraits course and the oils foundation course, Chris, which are fantastic! I think I deserve the landscape painting course for a birthday gift. Hope to purchase soon.
Thank you, you give me alot of insight. Painting is so complex but you disect it step by step that make it so easy to grasp the idea and structure. Yes, I am having difficulty creating great painting that at some point I lost my interest. But now, I'm back. Once again, thank you Chris. Regards from Indonesia.
Love the painting, and the explanation behind it. However I do feel the boat in the back be removed to give a stronger horizontal/ vertical comp. The way you painted the water and colors you used were fantastic .
Good grief, I have learned so much from following Chris! My paintings weren’t working and I couldn’t figure out why. The very first little tutorial I followed on TH-cam the light bulb came on in so many areas!
Hadn't heard of the concept of dynamic balance before so will try that out. I like the colours in the original so would have used some of the pthalo family.
very helpful. started using oil paint for the first time last night and it turned into an absolute mess. so im going to try this method and see what happens
Chris. Yes, Some type of logical proression or methodology is lacking on the tube. It is odd as thats how we process information. Thank you for this video...cut years off hit&miss.
Excellent video! You have a way of expressing things that is so clear and so useful, and bless you for your generosity in sharing your knowledge with us! One question..... I can't find any phone app called Value Study. Is it an iPhone only thing?
Thank you for sharing your ideas. I'm having a hard time with the large boat in the background. It looks too large and the windows look too big which makes the prospective off
If you find problem areas and can't figure out how to do them, should you still paint the picture and hope that you'll figure it out when you get there?
Its not whether or not a beginner should choose a master, its to choose wisely. The flashy painter you like in the beginning might give up the goods too easily. You can spend years with George Inness, Danial Garber, and Edward Seago.
Formulas are like recipes. Everybody wants the recipe for the thing they like, but the more advanced among us will use the recipe as a springboard rather than a step-by-step guide. Then the very advanced will say things like "oh I never use recipes, and you shouldn't either" because they've forgotten how much of what they learned came from a recipe.

Thank you Chris! I like this. Greetings from the Netherlands. Ron.
Values are so important and colour can confuse it so grey scaling the image hugely helps.

Is this Value Study app an Apple thing? Because it's not showing up in the Android store.
Composition is the hardest part paint coach. Simple is probably better one would think. Then your brain gets in the way and over thinks it.

Fyi, the boat is floating _in_ the dock, moored to the pier.
Thank youu ,im learn alot from you ❤
❤❤❤
We just ignoring they wrote "Piss Gail" on the front of the boat? It's like a 4chan name, and I love it.

Your arms are huge. How do you balance gym and painting?
Самое ужасное, что все (даже те, кто умеет рисовать) учат вас перерисовывать фотографии.
Это даже не тупик, это гораздо хуже.
