Great job on the Ridley play! Got some guts to use him against a Fox player let alone one of the best. I'd say the one notable downfall was - and it's definitely something _all_ Ridley players struggle with - is falling for Ridley's fake combo game. It's soooo tempting to go for follow ups that aren't true. It's that unfortunate part of Ridley's frame data in that moves look like they link into each other when they don't. BTW also good job on actually trying to use Down B and _especially_ for using Up B on stage! Ridley players need to start doing this more often!
The way one commentator talked down on The guy using Ridley just because he was using Ridley really left me annoyed and disappointed. He needs to work on that. Kudos to the match and players.
Perhaps it's my experience playing high level foxes in melee for so long but Samus should always control foxes approaches so they don't run a train on you. Super missle is a great way to put them in a bad spot because your goal is to keep them still to put Samus in a better position to be aggressive. Keep the fox reflecting while avoiding your own projectiles, they will be frozen in place during the cool down animation while giving you opportune moments to pressure with mix ups without them running away resetting neutral. Walling them out is also essential because they'll beat out your defense if you stay in shield. Short-hop fade back fair into Lower Forward Tilt is a tight frame trap that fox won't risk approaching. You can mix up that up with Fsmash if they get to close or anything you want.
Light is honestly such a cool player. I really like his playstyle and how flashy and clean it is. That wavedash at 7:42 and the final shield break was sick.
Bowser is faster than Ridley in the air, Dedede has more jumps, and Samus is heavier. He's literally a giant armored purple dinosaur with WINGS. His lightness and stiffness in the air don't even make sense for him as a character
I've never considered this... Every time you see him in an animation or trailer (even the Melee opening) his movement looks slinky and smooooooth. This might be a great argument for change; staying true to his character. Or, maybe they base it on his original appearances in Metroid, where everything looks clunky. You can't win them all. I'm just glad he's in the game.

I’m new to smash and I have a question... is there a reason so many pro players let so many whiffs and very minus moves go unpunished ? I always see grabs whiff or even a smash attack whiff and it’ll go unpunished. I’m an nrs player, where we know all our frames (idk if smash players do also) so I’m just curious
It's kinda harder to punish whiffs and unsafe moves in Smash than it is in traditional fighting games. When an opponent hits your shield, in addition to having to know how many frames of shieldstun a move has, you also have to deal with shield push (how far a move that hits your shield moves you back), which depends on the knockback of the move, and on the shielding character's traction. Also, Smash Ultimate specifically has a ton of moves that are safe on shield, in contrast to Smash 4, where most moves were unsafe on shield. As for whiffs, I think it's because there's so much more mobility in the game. Kinda hard to explain.
