The top socket on the Media Mod is not mini USB. It is a micro HDMI output for connecting to a monitor or TV. The middle USB C port can also be used to charge or power the GoPro from a power bank or to transfer the recorded media to a computer or phone running the Quik app. The microphones on the Media Mod are not much of an improvement on the built in microphones. I recommend using the 3.5mm TPS socket to connect an external microphone. The low light performance is not brilliant so you might want to use the Media Mod cold shoe to mount a light for filming in these conditions.

I have to get the chesty and head strap 😂😂 fly fishing I can’t have a chest strap cause I have a chest pack and biking I can’t have a head strap cause of a helmet 😢
The main benefit with them is their resistance to the cold zapping the usable power from them. Other than that they actually look like they are the same capacity as the regular batteries. So if you don't need to use them in cold weather might be worth saving a little bit.

For me a basic accessory but is great is screen protectors. I opted for the aluminum smallrig case instead of the Media mod.

Thankfully there are plenty of different mounts you can get for GoPros.
