I put my switch into a hard case whenever I travel with it. The most I bring aside from the switch itself is a charger. I also like to travel light, but I'm also not going to risk my console just to save a little space
Just traveled with my switch, I used the amazon case, worked great, didn’t worry about it being damaged. Also it’s so cheap, you can’t go wrong, parents I highly recommend it for your kids.

The pdp back pack is an absolute necessity in my opinion. It allows me to always have my switch,3ds, and laptop all in one With extra room.
That armored case is pretty great. I was a bit worried of other cases since I heard my friends said their joycons were a bit funky with cases that don't isolate the sticks sooo, got that thing and it was like $4 at the time. Was, worth it. Really nice durable case.

For that aftermarket dock, i have used that same one he has for 3 years. It has no name, it has no weight, but it has worked for 3 years. Just note that i have always used the switch charger as well. I just upgraded to that Genki one, but really just because that one is more portable (dont need to switch charger since that one works and I am not worried about bricking the switch).

The switches portability is great! When I travel I have a mario pdp case aswell as a gamestop's biogenic erganomic grip to make the playing for long periods more comfortable. That's it besides the charger.

I use the insignia charger without the dock regularly and it works well. I'm too afraid to test the dock until cloud saving comes.

The hard shell Amazon Basics case is great, extremely good build quality. I'm very paranoid about it breaking and this case is perfect. locks shut and protects buttons.

2:08 the face buttons groves are to absorb impact if you drop your switch on the face, that way the buttons aren't hitting the ground when you drop it
I usually bring my 10,000mAh Portable charger, a softish shell case with all my physical games (And some microfibre cloths and a USB C cable) My pro controller (If I feel like I need it) and sometimes my dock... (Might wanna buy a minidock though.....)

My go to case is the GoPlay Game Traveler, it’s a big case but it can hold a charger, joycon straps, 8 games, and a big controller grip to make the whole switch feel like a controller.

I already have a waterfield case for my New 3DS XL and my Vita and they are totally worth it. I treasure the cases as much as the handhelds so I will get one for my switch to. I love the cases. They make everything feel more special.

I did one of those replacement Switch dock shells, and I love it.
Don't update your system while plugged into the fastsnail dock, 5.0 update specifically bricked my system while it was plugged into a 3rd party dock

I honestly like the orzly case. The cartridge sleeve is non intrusive, there's nice protection, a portable battery pouch (yay!!!), a collapsible handle, and it's pretty durable but not too big.
Not trying to hate at all but just putting it out there that using the official charger may not be a 100% solution. His theory may be correct, but most likely it has more to do with the capacitors and resistors in the board used on third party docks. I haven't done much research into this but it seems the boards are the main issue and how nintendo configured their voltage and current settings. Converting your dock and using the official charger is your best bet, good luck!

I love my elite backpack for when I travel because it holds all my switch stuff plus my laptop, DJ headphones and all my cables plus everything in my purse. I did however remove the official switch logo off the front and put D&D pins and patches on it. Seriously thinking about getting the 8 bit controller over the pro controller and getting that Slim case you use all the time for when I don’t need my backpack. Thank you for the videos love this channel!

If you are sitting and switch is in a case in your backpack dont lean on backpack. I bent my switch this way.
Have that Amazon case, among the basic cases it's THE base for protection bar none! That said recently I switched to one of the cases that fit's an ergonomic handle with it.

Those cheap $30 Chinese aluminum box mini docks are ironically perfectly safe to use as long as you use the official Nintendo switch charger. The makers of the dock themselves even warn against using third party chargers. The thing is that those docks are ultra low power, so they never interfere with the switch's power needs, making them safe.

i normally either use my messenger bag or the hard case that came with the bag to carry my switch while traveling, and i normally bring:
-the console
-games (in my powera game case even though i only own like 3 physical games)
-ac adapter (likeyado)
-pro controller (because that thing is freaking awesome)
-hori's play stand (bc the kickstand is literal c r a p)
-occasionally, i will bring the dock, but i don't do that often.
-anker powercore if/when i get one because that will be helpful as *switch noise*

To answer your question, i like a mix of size and durability, so the second case you showed off is something more up my alley. But like yourself, when traveling, I try to make it light.
I really hope/wish that Nintendo will come out with a more portable dock that would be exactly like the one you had in the video...except you know, without any chances of it bricking my switch. I also found a replacement for the Nintendo power adapter. They came out with a USB-C to USB corde which wraps nicely and Nintendo also came out with an AC to USB plug that's much smaller than the one that comes with the console. So it wraps everything up nicely. With all of that, I bring my hori stand as I prefer it over the others. It's nice and compact, sturdy and allows you to charge your switch as you play.

I have the RDS case for the Switch that includes two multi-game cases to stash both the game cartridges and microSD card as well as an area to hold the joy-con straps, usb-c cord (official Nintendo cord only), ear buds. I use my Switch at home in docked mode and in portable mode while I am on the move so I needed something durable without breaking the bank.

I take every single accessory I owe with me when I travel. Switch is my favorite way to play games. That being said, if I’m just riding the subway or taking a small weekend trip i usually just bring my Switch and the SN30 Pro for 2D games.

I totally agree with your observations, I play my switch mostly handheld but i always carry a 8bitdo SN30 pro with me and i store my switch in the Tomtoc Case in my backpack or sling bag both items are great. I also agree about the battery but I'll say the usb c power delivery battery i have from anker is fantastic, the switch charges super fast and it can quick charge just about anything else i cary too many times.
Tomtoc also makes a bigger Switch case that can store the joycon grip, charger, 18 games, whatever accessories you can fit and has a built in play and charge stand. Used it on a two week trip overseas and it was perfect.

I travel a lot. A 10k mAh battery is more than enough, especially now that most planes and all Amtrak trains have outlets.
I keep a tempered glass protector on my screen and a really classy looking felt “ProCase” sleeve that gets a lot of attention and cost about $15 and holds 5 games.
I only play undocked on the road, and travel light, so no Pro controller on the road.
Holy Hell your videos just keep getting better in quality and never fail to please! The camerawork is fantastic, you don't drag on too much, and you keep me (and obviously others) entertained the whole way through. If you keep pumping videos like these out, you'll get to 1mill sub in no time!

I like the armored case myself, and usually also travel with a pro controller or a wireless gc controller for smash. Though if I'm flying and room becomes an issue, the switch stays behind and I just bring my steam deck..
I got the pdp link's tunic starter kit for 20 dollars. It come with the case, headphones, screen protector, joy-con covers and joy stick caps. I really recommend it, if your a traveler it would set you for life. The case is a had but not completely solid plastic covered in rubber so protection wont be a problem. It has space for games, a nest for accessories, and the switch fits in strapped by a stretchable fabric, not to mention the case looks AMAZING. this is the choice if you want a case and some accessories, the also have a mario and a mario 2d version
Btw I'm not being obligated to say this i just really like my case and think is the best choice lol
I keep it simple and light. My switch in it’s case and a charger. The battery usually lasts the same duration of the flight so I haven’t needed a battery bank. I enjoy handheld mode so for a quick trip or when I’m on vacation I leave the 8bitdo and pro controller at home.
That anker battery is a life saver I have one and it works great

I've been using the slightly larger cases that GameStop has in their starter sets for Switch accessories. It lets me pack a car charger when I need it along with other things. I also do have some physical switch games that can be stored.
For basic storage and for longer trips, I've also got a larger travel case for my switch stuff, and it, I believe, is an official Nintendo thing that can fit a lot of things into it in addition to the basics...
You also might want to have space for a decent set of headphones or other things use with it...

I got my PDP Nintendo Switch travel case at Best Buy. It also included a screen cleaning cloth, glass protector, Joycon controller Grips, Thumb Grips, Earbuds with an inline mic from Nintendo. Only $20 bucks!
Those cases were damn good looking especially the waterfield and the amazon basics. But I find your preffered cases disturbing, for me at least. Those cases seems to destroy your analog sticks easily when squeezed especially after seeing how you stuff things in your bag and how many you possibly carry. I destroyed my dual shock 2 controller before, a time when i did something like that going to school
