I first bought my switch in 2018. It was a brand new original switch I got on eBay on sale for Black Friday at $230, which was a steal compared to every other retailer at the time. I got it for Smash, of course, so in addition to the $230, I spent $60 on the game, $80 for a second set of joy cons, I think $40-$60 on a GameCube adapter, another $20 for some Chinese knockoff GameCube controllers, and $20 for Nintendo online. All together, I spent roughly $450-$470 and that’s not including tax and whatever games I downloaded first because I can’t remember them. Even at that severe Black Friday discount, the switch was pretty expensive to get started.

Another "essential" for the lite would be a screen protector.

Unless you plan on traveling with it, I wouldn’t bother. I have a big switch I keep at home without a screen protector and it’s just fine if not a little smudgy.
This comment doesn’t really matter because a screen protector is pretty inexpensive, but if you’re like me who spent nearly $500 getting a new switch and various accessories, it might make a difference.
I agree. Mine got scratched at home just by fitting too tightly into the dock!!!!
I agree better off spending a little bit of money on a screen protector rather than risking getting screatches or any permanent damage
I fell asleep playing on my lite once and I woke up and there was a tiny scratch. I was shook and now I’m never not using a screen protector again.
@@Ckoz2829 the one time I didn’t put my switch in case…something happened and “screen” cracked but when I peeled my screen protector of the real screen was fine, so I’d have been screwed otherwise lol
Basically you can be careful with it and stuff but you never know when sh*t happens so doesn’t hurt to have the extra protection
throwback to when i bought myself a charging stand and then proceeded to lose it not even 10min after i got home

For an optional accessory for the Switch Lite, I would suggest the "Anker PowerCore Nintendo Switch Edition". It makes sense for people that are commuting and aren't near an outlet.
i've never liked nintendo but i bought the switch lite because i felt it was a true portable experience and i think i wasn't wrong. I love the goddamn thing. i've had it for about a year and there are times in which i don't touch my ps4 for months like at all. A beautiful investment if you've never played anything nintendo has to offer and with tue new ports of the past generation games and some of this one, man, the experience is just awesome. Nope. For one thing, there are noise laws or people who would call the police depending on where you lived, for another, owning a gun isn't nearly as common as people outside the US seem to believe, lastly, that would get expensive. Shooting guns isn't a cheap hobby.

@@SharmClucas Granted, not everyone in the US is a gun enthusiast practicing their ideological freedoms, or whatever, but comparatively there are a lot who are. I agree that US citizens are a lot more diverse and dynamic than many seem to assume though. In other countries, citizens are often a lot more homogeneous in terms of ethnicity and culture.
8bitdo's Zero 2 is AWESOME for the Switch's NES and SNES library! They even included a suspend menu shortcut for it ;D

@@mollz28 same way any controller connects to the regular switch, it connects to the light as a regular controller, the 8bitdo light connects as a pro controller.

Yeah........ now you tell me. I spent a full day scavenging every store looking for one until I finally found one haha.
For my accessories I decided on the MoKo silicone grip case which fits in the HORI slim case, you just have to put it backwards. Then I have a generic aluminum stand for when I have a controller connected, which is the Sn30 Pro+. Hands down that controller has been my favorite accessories purchase. I could make do with any case or stand, but that controller is just absolutely amazing!

Jesus you dont need all of that. if you just got a switch lite or thinking about getting one, first off, do it they are amazing. and all you will really need is an sd card and a screen protector, ive had mine since November and ive never used a case, i carry it in my pocket as is and it is working just as it did the day i got it, no scratches, nothing

I got some insane luck because I just bought the coral pink switch lite for my sister today, and then you make this video! I'll probably save this video for later, since it's for her birthday in a few days, and she hasn't used it yet.
The start+select button combination on the Zero 2 works as a ZL for me, it opens the phone in animal crossing.
A little known feature is that you can also make the dpad work as either stick or the dpad itself, though swapping them is a bit slow so it's not very useful for complex gameplay.
I got the 8bitdo lite for my daughter and she loves it. I used it to play Smite and it worked....hilariously.

I have had my switch lite for a about a week now. I bought a clear case for it but now I want a stand for it so I may buy that. The mini controller is cute but I don’t think I would like playing with it. Thanks for all the options 😊

Yeah, I thought it was super weird when no one was talking about when Beatemups went all badass and shot those Nintendo Switch accessories.
I got my carrying case for my switch lite back when the lite first came out and there wasn’t any cases for it yet. I ended up getting a case for the switch and, so far, is working great. I can even store two joy cons in the zippered pouch without any problem. It’s a tiny bit bulky but it gets the job done
I was actually looking for controllers for my switch lite. I have that simple grey cover. It's no longer 40 bucks - half that, and comes with a pretty heavy duty screen protector. I like it because the lid is sturdy enough if my hands slip off the switch it'll still catch on my fingers and not drop the switch.
I bought myself a Pikachu Stand for my lite, and I've had it for a few years now. Best investment ever
The aluminum switch stand at 4:40 is an Omoton stand. I have not been able to find a link to purchase them on Amazon any longer, though, the product page is still there. Decent looking stand, their website shows it's just under $10 USD.

I did just get a Switch Lite! I pre-ordered the Coral one and it’s gorgeous! 😍 And I did get the 128 gb microSD and a cheap grip for Best Buy. But I’m still looking for an animal crossing lite case and I’ll also be getting the charging dock, which I didn’t know existed. And I’ll be picking up some joycons for multiplayer. Thanks for the informational vid!
The things i got when i got my switch lite was a nice cover for the switch with a built in kick stand. I also got a screen protector (obvs) and a case with a usb, thumb stick covers of red blue and black, and with mario odyssey. It is very epic.
3:50 - at this point, I think it's safe to say "just don't buy non-Nintendo docks made during the first year of its life." From what I can tell, there hasn't been any reports of bricked Switch units being a problem in the past couple of years. All of the reputable manufacturers of Switch docks knows what happened and made sure they're not bricking Switches. Unless some new info has recently surfaced, I don't think there's much to talk about anyways.
I know this video is months old, but when you said “good luck finding the coral one” all I could think about is being able to only find coral switches in every GameStop I looked at when I got mine a week ago. Lol
If those mini controllers one day become illegal for some reason, you could easily smuggle fourty at a time in your stomach when boarding a plane!

I'm a bit late to the party (our lock down in NZ only went on for 5 weeks, and those were spent on the aged Xbox360, getting 100% on the old Lego games). I scored my Coral Switch light, from EB Games today, they sorted me out with a case, memory card (probably not big enough) and two games.... looking forward to early Winter nights, gaming in bed. That's a great idea! I also recommend a screen protector, and maybe a Bluetooth controller! It doesn't have to be a pro controller there is other cheaper options!
Got my yellow switch lite. Bought a set of chromed gold button replacements and a soft red new shell only putting red on the back side and then tricking my triggers and buttons this is by far my favorite device of all time. I remember getting my gameboy and the accessories for it long ago 🥲😪
I have the Flip cover case and I love it. It’s just so sleek and lightweight. I can play with it on. It also helps grip wise, it just feels good in the hands. I’ve had the switch lite for 4 months. I got the flip cover with it and I’d say 2 or 3 times while playing (MK11) it got hot with the flip cover on. I have the grey switch lite so it doesn’t look amazing but hopefully a skin will make it pop more.

I bought a OG switch for myself and my kids and then got a blue switch lite for my wife when animal crossing came out so my wife didn’t have to fight for time on the og switch to play the game she really wanted to play(animal crossings new horizons) she loves the lite. We got the animal crossing case that was in this video and it’s awesome
