Am I terrible at finding stuff, is the youtube algorithm even worse, or is the people promoting Garbage inept? Something is not right.
A bit self-serving, but I have a version of Screaming Females cover of "Shake it off" on my channel. About two-thirds of the way through at the "You could be getting down to this sick beat" Marissa goes off for about two bars, then shuts it down with just enough shredding to make it distinctly theirs.
my then wife bought two tickets for them as a birthday present (she had her moments ;) and after a couple of classics shirley to the forefront of the stage holding hands with marissa (whom i hadn't heard of at the time) and talke about the Screaming Females and how Marissa was like her little sister and we could tell she was totally sincere, and we watched this petite woman grab a guitar taller than her...and such a sound, such a shredding solo came out of the speakers it was difficult to believe it was cute little marissa who made it...SHE AND shirley are tw forces of nature, and long live Garbage for using their aura to help other bands...that is really something more older and better know bands should do....

I am 65 and I grew up listening to Springsteen and Smith do their versions of this. I’ll admit to never having heard of Garbage and Screaming Eagles until this appeared in my You Tube queue. If the number of views doubles in the next few weeks, that will be my doing. The torch has passed, and it burns brighter than ever thanks to the talents of Marissa and Shirley.

Mine too. So far 10 times since going to cat power, garbage and Alannis Morsette concert ! The ladies rocked it all night and so did the band with perfect instruments with the awesome vocals.

Shirley Manson - greatly under-appreciated performer. Not just her singing and phrasing (so economical, never over-dramatic) but the way she moves as she sings - hard to describe, loose-limbed, effortless and perfectly in time with the players.

Hands down the best version of this song I've ever heard. And I've seen 10,000 Maniacs perform it live. Shirley's vocals are fantastic! But Marissa's guitar is the highlight. She just fucking shreds! Especially on her solo. Fucking amazing!

The original is one of my favorite songs. Other covers always make me just want to hear the original, but this one is excellent and totally stands up on its own. This girl Marissa is amazing on guitar. I saw this performed live in Montclair, NJ a few weeks ago, and it was so amazing.

I asked myself a question some time ago: If a fairy visits and offers me to share one musicians skill, which one would I pick? Usually my choice would be Jonny Greenwood. He just can do anything, at least he's the only Oscar nominated Rolling Stone and NME Top 100 Guitarist I'm aware of.
However if the fairy is in a bad mood and only offers one instrument, I've always defaulted to Hendrix. The more I see from Paternoster however, the more I wonder about that choice....
