      @DeviousRC 66 200 dollars to get rolling with a bunch of stuff I already have laying around. This is perfect for the scaler who already has tons of spares. It is also cheaper than buying a kit with wheels/tires and a body I don't want. Yea it's pricey, but Axial has always been pricey. Plenty of budget options out there. Axial isn't one of them. Frankly, I'm just happy it isn't another Jeep branded product.

      @DeviousRC 66 it's a great deal for any 1 looking to upgrade there old chassis! It would have cost me more to upgrade my old Scx10 then buy this kit and you if already have the parts like me and most every 1 I know in the hobby it's a no brainier! If not grab a scx1010.2 deadbolt for $300 to get started lol!
      I love my kit have had 0 issues with it so far and the diff ring gear and locker are 1 solid peace so no risk of screws backing out and binding the axle up!

    Josh, I was excited as Hell when they announced this Kit!!
    I was blown away and Humbled, when someone (NOT from the RC Community, obviously), SENT ONE TO MY DOOR!!! 😊😊😀👍👍
    It's my FIRST SCX10 ANYTHING I've ever had! I'm thinking, because of that, I may go Old School, like a Deadbolt or Dingo... IF I can get a Body.... It seems fitting, being the beginning of the Trail for me, with a SCX10 II. 😎
    Sure, it's got its shortcomings (SHOCKS), but there's an Old School fix for that too.... Mount them *upside-down* until I can afford good Shocks. 😉
    I feel like a Kid!! I can't wait to get to work.

    I just built my SCX10.2 today. I love it already. The only thing that I added is knk brass hex’s, incision links and shocks. I used a Reef’s RC 299 servo powered by a Hobbywing 10amp BEC, and running on an AXE 1200 kv combo on 3s lipo. The servo is lighting fast and super strong and the esc/motor combo is amazing. One of the main reasons i went with this kit was that i live in california and gmade parts are always on back order for me. Plus i already have a castle mamba x censored combo 2280kv. 4 channel receiver and rc4wd fuel wheels and yeah racing shocks. I wanted something i could simply build and transfer my electronics to. I bought the Gen1 from RPP as a builders kit for my SmurFJ, it was a great option and money saver. Im glad to see Axial get to this as a standard. I do agree that the shocks shouldve at least been the Icon shocks. Overall its a great start for someone looking to build a custom rig.

    Yes it worth it imo cause everything they don't include always is the first to get yanked out anyway cause everything I build is custom and I 100% agree with the shocks I'm currently building up a truck right now and just installed incision shocks while I have some opinions there as well I opted to just grease the shocks and run them dry for how I like my crawler suspension to feel other than the axle housing for me it's a home run.

I believe that this kit refers to this type of people which has already a few parts and would like to build a new different rig with different style. Team Raffee does have 4mm rods ends (straight, angled or offset ) that are a much harder plastic which are the exact same size has the 4mm ends that came with the original kit. They seem to work pretty good so far. They took the abuse of my scx10 converted monster truck with jconcepts 2.6 tires.

    I personally think buying a RTR is a better option as you can sell things to make a return. I still like that this version is available as I’m sure it fits into a lot of different build ideas. I would rather have the honcho(preferred) or deadbolt and sell the stuff I won’t be using. A decent honcho body or deadbolt body with cage and bumper(s) will usually fetch around $25-30 profit depending on shipping. The electronics will usually fetch another $45-50 after shipping. Some of the others like the XJ, JK and Blazer will fetch more for the body and bumpers. So that could be $70-80 off the cheapest RTR’s and possibly close to $90+ for the others. The links and shocks I never really sell, just throw them in a bin for parts bin builds or mock up, even though I guess they could have some small value. The XJ, JK, and blazer links might actually fetch something worth the effort I suppose. The wheels/tires also usually can bring in $10-20, but probably takes the longest to sell. I get that this takes time and effort and has some risk. Stripping a rtr for back up parts or selling them and reducing overall cost of base to below $300 has proven to be worthwhile for me 3 times. So that’s my route. Also, something about unboxing a rtr is fun for me, and it isn’t “unboxing videos”.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I went thru the price breakdown of all that but decided to cut it from the video. Even with the discounts now, you can barely get to the volume of the kit and that’s assuming you can sell all of it. While I still like the RTR route, I don’t think necessarily a better value.

    • @Scx10diablo
      @Scx10diablo 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I still like that the builders kit is available because the parts listed originally are sometimes difficult to sell or just take a little while. If you have the budget and want to get things done, boom boom boom, I feel the kit is well worth its retail.
      I personally have a smaller separate budget for RC, so I pinch pennies and over time it adds up for me.
      Glad you cut all that from the video. It started to suck typing it out about halfway through but I felt committed to finishing the comment. Lol. Plus, then you would have people talking about stock electronic quality in the comments section as I know some who think those things should just be pitched in the garbage or given away.

    I have the new Otto motor l200 nitro engine and am looking for a chassis I might be able to modify and use for my first project. Does anyone have any experience and can give me some advice?

    The only disappointment for me is they haven't included the servo winch mount plate.

    Did any of the parts trees come with Easter eggs, like the kit and rtr versions?? i.e.; ammo can, rifle, helmet...

      Ammo cans come on the rod end tree, and I can’t remember if the bull horns were in there or not.

    Awesome Video!! Do you prefer this one over the older 10ii Cherokee kit? Trying to pick one or the other lol..

      With a code on tower I can get the older 10ii Cherokee kit for under $300.00....

      I prefer this one, but if you like the Cherokee it’s a fine base.

    I wonder if they'll ever do this for the Wraith???

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      I would doubt it. The SCX10 is much more of a blank slate to build on compared to the Wraith.

    Disagree; the only 'option' parts incl in this kit are the metal trans gears; for a few more dollars, I'd like the 2spd ready trans, ditch the bumper, plastic links, adjustable battery tray.
    Say a price point around 229..

    What's up with that sweet Cellblock. I need one that is taller

    • @HarleyDesignsInc

      @@HarleyDesignsInc I want that for a bruiser that the transmission sits like and falls off. I thought an inch taller would be great for 2.2 rigs and portal rigs but longer might be the better option

    I'd rather spend an extra 150 and get the SSD Trail King kit. It's a no brainer... Aluminum shocks, c-hubs, forward motor, titanium links, steel drive shafts, machined gears. It makes this kit look like a cheap toy. Axial fails again.

    • @HarleyDesignsInc
      @HarleyDesignsInc  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      The SSD has been discounted down from $450 because of failing sales. I’d be surprised to see the SSD will continue to be made with what they have had to discount it to in order to move units.

    • @molonlabe3083
      @molonlabe3083 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@HarleyDesignsInc they will still make all the parts since the kit is just a compilation of all their Scx10 upgrades. It's a far superior kit for a very fair price. I'll be ordering one soon. Axial price keeps going up while quality goes down.
