Hey Jones.. honestly knowing what I know about this camera.. I would buy it at its original price of $4300 if it was no longer on sale.. but I'm Grateful for the sale prices 😊
Been only buying entry level 70d/80d APSC cameras in my digital life but I think im going to jump at this. I'm not a pro but I enjoy doing travel and vehicle shooting from time to time.
I used to be Super35 crop before this one. I've noticed the extra Low light performance and wider field of view and depth of field from the FULL FRAME sensor and loving it.
Hey! Okaaayy.. I want a 2nd canon as my B cam.. I'm looking at either the R7 or R8.. both of which is said overheats.. I wouldn't mind getting the R6 mkii for it's sale of $2000 maybe a open box one.
I've watched some reviews of R5c owners thinking of going to the R5 mk2 but they reveal some surprising facts.. go watch. Just to name a few, overheat is better but not cured like the R5c, it does have oversampling like r5c in compress formats, but quality is reported less sharp than R5c and R5c still has unlimited recording. Yes the r5mk2 has full HDMI and CLOG2 but I'm keeping my R5c!!
my problem with the R5C which I used to make a doc on was the lack of options for full frame raw recording. If I wanted to go to 4K full Fram raw recording that's gonna incur a crop. 4k 120 raw? nope, gotta go to super 16 at 2k, wanna do oversampled 4K in full frame raw? nope gonna need to get into apsc. if this along with other annoying issues I eventually switched to the Z8. The z8 can do everything the R5C can do but better in almost every single way. since switching I haven't even remotely thought about it. if you are not in either system and looking at the R5C then look at the Z8 first as it has way more bang for buck not just in video but photos as well. if you are already in Canon then its the better option.
@MarvinBoydCo Hey Marvin! Real quick are you talking about the R5C or the regular R5?? The R5c doesn't have 4K raw.. 8k Raw up to 60p in RAW LT, 8k Raw up to 30p in RAW ST and RAW HQ which is the crop at super35 but that is 5.6K not 4K. Also the 4K 120P is FULL FRAME all day no crop. And you can do that 120p in it's highest compressed codec of XF-AVC ALL INTRA. Even the 4K 60p is without crop. Now yes the Nikon Z8 is impressive as well. I was shocked at it's specs. 8.6K also internal Raw and slightly better dynamic range. Now I believe why me and others have and are choosing canon over Nikon is the reputation in the cinema industry and creditibility like Mercedes vs. Toyota.. Nikon is still fresh in the mirrorless World and cinema spec world. Plus N Raw isn't widely supported as canon Raw lite, among other things. But yeah there can be some more shootouts between these two guys!
It’s the Raw that’s noisy not the C-log 2. I love my R5C it’s 🔥🔥🔥🔥 amazing!! The power of the 8K over sample can be seen even in 1080p. Also we get much longer internal battery life with the R5mark ii batteries!!! I bought mine and I love it!!!
@@ALLTHINGSCINEMA24 so I shot two weddings with it going back and forth video and photo but I was using my flash. I had a speed light on so that took alot of more power. I have some corporate event coming up I’ll be able to test more accurately.
Thank you for the video :-) I am mainly a landscape (and wildlife) photographer and have been shooting with Nikon since the film era. I'm considering switching to the Canon R5C because I'm increasingly doing videos for clients (using my Blackmagic 4K). The R5C interests me because, for my needs when I'm in the mountains, it would combine both a camera and a photo tool in one (and it's weather-sealed, unlike my Blackmagic). Initially, I was thinking about getting the Nikon Z8, an absolute beast for photography, but after watching some online videos of its video output, it felt too digital for my taste (And I also hesitated with the Alpha 1 but same feeling). I love sharpness in photography, but I want the complete opposite in video, haha - the impossible choice! But this R5C seems to strike a good balance... Perhaps the ideal for me would be an R5C Mark II (or a future Nikon with RED collaboration), but that's just speculation at this point ^^ And everyone has recommended the FX3 to me, but I’m a photographer first… so I prefer the R5C for that reason as well. I haven’t ordered it yet; I’m waiting until 2025 just in case Canon releases an R5C Mark II, haha. I’ll need it to shoot an adventure/expedition film in Greenland, fully self-supported (yes, I’ve planned for plenty of CFexpress B cards and V-mount batteries ^^).
Good points.. you said the Z8 too digital.. The Z8 is a straight up Competition with the R5c in specs as it also has 8.2K RAW and 45mp sensor Full Frame.. but you said it.. Nikon is still just few years in the Mirrorless cinema field and Canon is season in along with Sony.. The Canon color science i believe is better than Nikon and as you said the cinema look from Canon is there along with balance of sharpness from the oversampled 8K. Sony Fx3 in my opinion is way softer than r5c because of straight 4K.. and does not have RAW or Oversampled 4K. Nothing out there is still defeating the Canon Eos R5c in the field of CINEMA + FLAGSHIP photo camera.
The r5c is a great camera. Like you said , for the price and what you are getting it’s still a contender in todays market

Also with the and and EF, RF lenses you can take advantage of the telephoto option in video 3 times zoom in 👀👀 !!
Didn't know about this one! Good note.
All great advice, thank you.
I have been debating R5C and R5 M2. What do you think of that?

Hey I heard someone else say that about the new batteries.. is it that much more life or only extra 10 min to 20min?

But you are about to get the C70!! Can't wait to hear about it!
I had this camera then took it back
It didn’t fit my needs ,you can only rely on it when it’s on A V mount ,internal battery is a No No
respect. Yeah i run it off of PD, external power via USB.. I'm use to it since my last camera BMPCC6K.
