Routes: Waterloo to Windsor / Reading Line | Hounslow / Kingston Loop Line
    Mortlake Station
    Location: B351 Sheen Lane, Mortlake
    Trains: Class 456 & 455 (South Western Railway) - 2:25
A level crossing located next to Mortlake Station near Richmond in London, and close to the River Thames. This level crossing can typically be expected to see around 349 trains passing it during a typical weekday, and has been identified as one of the riskiest CCTV level crossings on the Wessex Route (due to frequent misuse incidents from motorists and pedestrians as well as the high amounts of usage from road, rail, and pedestrian traffic). Both of the alarms here are quiet, one of which sounds with a fast tone, and the barriers here were fairly new back when this video was recorded. Additional signage strongly advises against stopping on the level crossing to all passing motorists.
Seen in this video departing the station towards Barnes is a combination of older SWR units (a class 456 leading a class 455), and these are soon to be phased out completely by the introduction of the class 701 trains on all suburban routes managed by the Train Operating Company.
    Thanks for watching!
