- hope this is a useful tutorial. summary... with a straight trailer approach with your left shoulder to the open spot. assuming your tractor is currently pointing at 9:00 pull forward to the third spot shoulder to the center of it then turn the wheel to the right until your tractor is facing 11:00.... crank the wheel to the left until your tractor returns to 9:00. look in the rear view mirror you should see your trailer pointing directly at your open spot at an angle. then as you back up if you turn the wheel to the right will jack knife pivoting the back wheels..... if you turn the wheel to the left it will chase the back wheels rolling them... start your pivot when your wheels are in front of the previous trailer.... use your line in your left mirror to gauge distance. pull forward to straighten out... straight back technique after that.... practice practice enjoy!

When using the parked trailer as a reference, should your tandems be in front of the corner of that parked trailer, or should they be about centered on that trailer before making your cut?
I get them right around the front corner, that's where your eye is the whole time and that is your pivot point. So you know if you're going to make it. You may need to play with the distances, based on how much room you have between trailers. You may need to pull forward and adjust away from the trailers before going for the swing
can u do a video on blindside backing in a yard truck? I have no issues sight side backing. But blindside is my weak point

@@drivermojo6031 Thanks, the first yard job i applied to failed me on my drive test, because i had to get out and look, during a blindside back. I was curious if this is a typical maneuver for a yard jockey

You don't always have the option of a lot of room. Some yards are confined and require an angle in. Its educational. Make a video of the straight shot...people will like it too.
