S2: E13 Beautiful sailing from the Peloponnese to Crete in rather rough weather.

- In this episode I sail from Pylos, Peloponnese in Greece to Crete in pretty rough weather. I explore Balos beach and Gramvousa island located at the western end of Crete.
The fort at Gramvousa is also visited. The area has beautiful and magnificent views and is definitely a place to visit if you are sailing to Crete.

Good riding on the waves! Your boat behaves quite well... a long keeler, I suppose? Seeing your wonderful images I could not help reflecting about one thing few tourists realize: almost all the places in Mediterranean where ancient civilizations flourished are now deserts. Men have first destroyed forests for constructions and fuel and then the goats ate what was left, so that nude rocks remain. I know well those small bushes visible inside the fort: they are poisonous plants and so were spared by the goats. All Aegean Islands show this destiny and most of the people who visit them think it's a natural environment...
Yes it's a long keeler. And yes, it would be nice to see how it looked 1000 years ago...
Varför släpper du inte storskotet när du länsar? Gipprisken är ju jätte mycket större. Är det slitaget på seglet som oroar? 2:57
Jag har ett egenkonstruerat bromssystem på storskotet så en gipp är inga problem. Det har hänt att jag fått en gipp i kuling utan att märka någon smäll om jag är nere i båten. Däremot vore storseglet dags att byta nu om det skulle vila mot ett vant. Det slits ganska hårt om det ligger an. Dessutom brukar jag sätta en "preventor" som någon kallade det. Ett extra skot framme vid kicken som går ned till sidan för att hålla bommen kvar. Detta endast om jag ska gå länge på samma bog.
