When IU sings, there are people dressed in black clothes in the crowd who are not congratulating them, but pointing fingers at them. This scene shows that even in a world overflowing with hate, love is enough to win

@@A.Adam22 The stories aren't made up. The director explained it already. The cube represents discrimination towards people with disabilities. IU is deaf and mute. V is blind in one eye. The people with the black covers over their faces represent the people who discriminate against disabled people. V and IU have love so strong that they can live their perfect life without having a care in the world for the people who make fun of them or reject them. At the end, V tries to stand up for IU after she grabs the rod, and proceeds to try and break the cube. It fails, and the cube ends up turning red as it is about to attack. IU covers V's working eye so he doesn't have to see what happens. After that, they both get destroyed by the cube, and their clothes fall down into the pile. The pile of clothes represents all of the people that the cube destroyed. Those people were disabled.
Stop being a piece of shit, and bringing the mood down just because you feel like it.

This is the video ive been waiting for.. IU got sick from the video shooting because it was so cold and she was sick when she recorded the song.. I feel it makes the song even more beautiful...
V is already considered an actor. He starred in the Kdrama Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth. This is where he met some of his closest friends known now as the Wooga squad. I’m sure he wanted to act more but with BTS popularity and busy schedule he just wasn’t allowed. I’m praying when he comes back he will get the chance after their comeback world tour. IU is a great actress herself. She has many acting merits. My favorite being Hotel Del Luna. She will be doing a world tour this year. She is just all around talented with what I consider one of the most beautiful singing voices. I love this song and the way she sings it along with this video is just heart wrenching. I cried like a baby. So wonderfully done.

We would have loved to hear V's vocal their too ....but it was just one week before his enlistment in military when IU asked him to film the MV with him ......he was already up to his neck in work.......but we appreciate even that he worked so much and done so many things to leave for armies behind ❤
Honestly even if V wasn't going to enlist IU was still going to be the only one that's gonna sing this song..this was not intended to be a song collaboration as she dedicated this to her fans..when she was asking a lot of her acquaintances who's going to be the actor..IU and V where texting to each other with something else until IU suddenly thought that maybe V should be the actor instead as he fits the description and ofcourse to treat Armys before he goes.
Actually, V was part of the cast of Hwarang . That is when I discovered BTS because he did the OST with Jin “I t’s definitely you”. He was amazing on his first acting gig. He made me cry so hard and I never cry.
Funny you said that (about V being an actor one day 😊), he IS an actor. He debuted in acting with Hwarang: The Poet Warrior Youth in (first aired in Dec 2016 in SK). In fact his next acting gig was, and still is, highly anticipated, but V said he ran out of time (between the time BTS started their hiatus til the day he began his military service - he did a TON of projects). IU revealed previously (in her talk show - please check the one with V guest-star!) that V received a lot of offers. So hopefully it'll work out after he comes back from active service 🙏

I love her music so much. She is one of my favorite solo artists. She is such a beauty ! I really adore her. She is THE BEST.

Yeah that BHTS video was difficult to watch her struggle with her vocals. (Not that they didn't sound great...just the fact it hurt her so much...but she persevered and created a rememberable video). Have a great week 🤟😎
This song is such a heart touching song. I really love it. Plus the music video just made the song even more emotional. IU and V just nailed their roles.
V AMAZING acting out all these emotions of fear happiness sorrow furious, in a 5 minute music video is crazy because we see actors failing to act out a single emotion in an 1 hour long episode but here he is, the versatility is showing 😭They they forgot what they were running from because through the lens of the camera, they were able to just love and enjoy life until the reality caught up to them and they were taken away ICRY 😭😭😭😭❤❤
The song vibe... It's like a musical theater song, or drama OST. It's beautiful and full of emotion.

IU can't hear and V’s one eye can't see ,in the end IU covered the good eyes of Taehyung so he won't see the horrible ending in front of them ,im Stuck at how a single tear from Taehyung’s good eye traced its path down his face and IU’s hand gently covered his eyes, It's as if he found a momentary refuge in her touch, offering a subtle relief from the overwhelming sensation ... AH I CAN'T STOP CRYING 😢😢❤

I was captivated not only by the compelling storyline and exceptional acting in this video, but also by her enchanting voice. I found myself particularly drawn to the poignant moment when V's hand trembled after that outburst hitting the cube, and she calmed him by syncing with his heartbeat. The shared tears shed, accompanied by the haunting OST( One Single Tear) powerfully conveyed the depth of their devastation in confronting their grim reality by the end.

V is definitely going to be an actor. It’s his dream and he has said so since he was a trainee. He loves singing and music, but he is ready to step into another realm of entertainment. He is an all-arounder guy (song, dance, model, actor, learning to play instruments, participates in reality/variety shows, etc).
This video was so gorgeous. V and IU have been friends for quite a while. And she asked V to co-star in this with her.
The cube represents society and how it tries to remove people who are “different” (disability, sexuality, minorities, etc.) The camera shows the world as it should be. In the story, IU is deaf and speaks in sign language. V is blind in one eye which is why IU is usually in the front leading him. The people dressed in all black & in masks/hoods are basically the “normal” robotic people in a society who will point out those who are different and shame them. The 2 do all they can to protect each other. The end of this just kills me every time. When she covers V’s good eye so he won’t see the end… 😢😢

I've been trying to figure out why I cry every single flippin' time I watch this video, and a reactor with video production expertise (Jordan Ormes) said that her voice was the key. He said that *sound* is the aspect of video production that contributes most to the emotions we feel. When he said that, I knew immediately that I wanted to see your reaction to her voice.

Yes, and that friend group isn't made up of just any actors. It includes Choi Woo-shik, who played the son in the Oscar-winning film "Parasite" (and who wasn't not actually in "Hwarang"), as well as Park Seo-joon who was in Itaewon Class (Netflix) and just had a role in the "The Marvels." Taehyung came 1st in the 13th Soompi Award for his debut acting in Hwarang. Over the years, many directors have invited him to be their male lead but were all rejected by Hybe. Now that Tae is in his solo era, he will surely re-begin his acting career after the completion of his enlistment.

Here is some extra info about the music video... Director Um Tae Hwa released a guide explaining the MV and gave 4 Key points.
First, the "cube" signified the discrimination and oppression that are prevalent in the daily lives of the main characters.
Second, the "camcorder" represents the "lens of love," an important "device" that allows us to look at the beautiful things in the world beyond the internal or external appearance of the characters.
Third, IU and BTS V became the main characters in a "survival story of a dystopian worldview of someone who cannot speak and sees the world only through his left eye." Despite the difficulty, feeling hurt and exhausted, they relied on each other despite "cube" and tried to overcome it in the end.
Fourth and last, the "wedding dress and tuxedo" symbolize the "fruit of love." At the end where they are seen rising in the air, it depicts that they are finally "free to fly away from all kinds of oppression and pressure."

IU's vocals are so beautiful as always! And what's crazier is that while recording this song, IU was down with a cold, and yet she could still sing this well! That's a vocal ace there. If i were down with a bad cold, there is no way i could hit those high notes.

The ending of the piano melody as the clothes fall to the top of the heap - it ends on a note we don't expect, as if the melody is unfinished. That hints at future couples consumed by the cube (the box society tells us to conform to). A masterful piece of movie-making, for IU's voice and IU's and V's acting.
Excellent Short Film. Tells an entire story, a riveting tale. It was actually V's idea to make it a Post-Apocalyptic video.
LOADS of people have cried over this one, girls and guys alike. The storytelling is just THAT GREAT. Quite compelling.
One reactor (who is an avid fan of IU and of BTS) has an EDITED, TRIMMED-DOWN version of their reaction, and that cut-down version was still an Hour-And-A-Half long when they posted it! I watched that entire reaction; totally worth it because regardless of the absurd length and the completely Over-The-Top style of the reaction, it is no less important than anybody else's reaction.
Mental Illness is a thing and people process things differently. And that could also be taken into consideration for the kind of people the Cube would have been hunting.

She has been the number 1 solo artist in Korea for a long time. I admire IU for her musical and acting talent. Kpop queen, the only person in Korea who can break all the music charts. Korea's biggest online music. Korea has only 3 genres of kpop: boygroup, girlsgroup and IUgroup. the only artist loved by the vast majority of korea.

Such a beautiful and emotional video featuring amazing acting and vocals that makes the experience so personal. I really do hope that Tae & IU do other projects together both film and music as they have great chemistry and when he was on her show their voices also blended so well. Also at the end it was pointed out by someone that he can hear what is coming but she can't, while she can see what is coming but she covers his good eye so he can't. Both cry at the same moment though and from the same left eye. Also the right side of his face seems to have burn scars so maybe he had encountered a cube before but got away at the last minute. This cube was relentless in its pursuit and even seemed to change size so it could come into the building. Earlier when it was flying overhead you could tell no way it could fit inside those hallways. I also noticed the cube waits for them to stop fighting and accept their fate. If you notice there are no other people so obviously no person is able to meet the criteria this cube holds that would allow someone to survive. The camcorder that kept showing a better reality, was giving us the viewer a happier version of the events. They both rise in the air together, their bodies still solid, while the reality is that they have been turned to ash. At the top of the camcorder right before it turns off you see ash particles in the air. I also loved how the clothes landed together on the pile. Again all of this symbolizing that even though they seemingly lost to the cube, it couldn't destroy their love for each other. They stayed together in life and death, so indeed their love did win. I can't get enough of this MV, the acting is Oscar level and combined with the award worthy vocals and lyrics it's both heartbreaking but also heartwarming that at least they went together.

And she was suffering with a severe case of the flu while recording this, and still sounds angelic. She was so sick that she had to stop several times due to coughing, being tired and being sick to her stomach. What a trooper! This is by far the BEST MV I have watched in years. The acting is superb. The vocal is extraordinary. The melody is heavenly. I am so impressed and yes, someone was cutting onions in my kitchen too.
