I’ve been to visit the Fender factory twice, flown from Aus to LA to visit, emailed them and checked the schedule and all was good. Then, on both occasions when I arrived on the day I was told, ‘Ahh, we’ve decided to close early this year’, ‘oh sorry, we’re doing an upgrade’. All things that could have been passed on to me earlier, before I flew half way around the world to visit. I have quite a few Fender products. - guitars and Amps and was so disappointed in their engagement with me. Glad they took the time to take you guys through. It has saved me another attempt. It took me a long time to buy another Fender. But one thing I have noticed is the differences between the Fender and Gibson factories at the moment. There seems to be a lot more attention to detail and overall professionalism going on at the Gibson Factory in the last few years (their prices probably reflect that too 😂). I think with any company and management this will ebb and flow, but Fender needs to start to clean up their act, stop taking customers for granted.
That's a tough one and I am so sorry to hear that! Things like this have even happened to us and boy oh boy...that gets me as well. So my apologies for those circumstances. And an Australian to boot...y'all are the best, shucks! I think they are killing at at Fender at the moment but you are for sure right. They did that to you because they don’t want you to see how they EXPLOIT cheap labor that comes from the border. The same thing happened to me in 2021. I checked the Fender website and it appeared that the tour was still available. Got there and was told by an employee that tours were no longer done due to Covid. Needless to say, we were disappointed and having been a lifelong Fender owner I was pissed. Great video but that’s NOT a custom shop. It’s just a regular fender factory but on a 1/10th scale. Good to know not to spend that ridiculous money on fender “custom” shop guitars though. Ok communist. What do you do for work? Tell me, so I can see how much you should be paid. Take a course in basic economics and manufacturing! So commie, how much do you think one of these custom shop guitars should cost? Before ya make an ass out of yourself, do the math starting with the labor costs! The facility and materials cost. Top wood and nitro finishes! Production and custom assembly is totally different and if you can't see it you are a bleep. For starters, for the most part, each guitar is special ordered with specific details. A production assembly line is a designed guitar model that is mass produced! There are no variants, The CNC machines are programmed, all the parts are bought, put in bins and the production workers assemble them. Totally different from customer ordered spec guitars. That is why they cost double and triple what an American pro II costs. No different than a mass produced assembly line automobile compared to an German or italian made custom sports car. ... just saying, but a compound radius is fairly easy to program on a CNC... so? But I guess if it justifies the cost? They also got the mills with the extra big tool changer... and they are using like 1/4 of what they need?
Yeah I like the fact that there’s a human touch here. It justifies the price to me. There’s something nice about perfectly CNCed necks and fingerboards, but there’s also something nice about a guitar that has a bit more handiwork put into it. There’s thousands of custom shop guitars and basses out there. What does everybody think? Two people build everything? Of course it’s a factory with lots of workers……lol
Did you listen to the video? They hand select wood at the beginning versus the mindset “ehh, let’s just see what comes out of it.” Nothing about the phrase “Custom Shop” runs counter to this operation. If you want just one individual to handle your Fender guitar, go masterbuilt.
Man oh man! Are you serious? What do you want them to do? Have 3 employees and build 200 guitars per year? haha Its a custom shop. Customers order guitars built to their specifications! Hello, all manufacturing has a LINE. There is a start and a finishing point. What is happening in this SHOP is totally different from a mass produced production line. Again, so, how would you lay out your guitar shop? Have builders working on 3 levels and walking around in circles round and round? LMFAO! You need a damn line to produce everything. SMFH!
The people they have as representatives from Fender are always the worst. They like sort of know what they're talking about that you can tell they're just a dude who's friends with someone who is already in management and got promoted to an easy desk job
Los que tienen custom Shop miran en menos a las fender mim ....el jefe de custom Shop es mexicano..y la mayoría de los operarios también....jajaja la diferencia es de que lado de la frontera los mexicanos fabrican las fender....
Methinks the word ‘custom’ isn’t quite accurate. More like expensive fender assembly factory line. Can’t really see a luthier anywhere. Just a bunch of assembly workers getting about $25 per hour max for repetitive tasks. And we wonder why no one wants to do factory work.
It’s a pity they never checked the radius on my custom shop nocaster headstock. The corner radius is far too rounded off. In hindsight I should have not bought the guitar. It looks crap
Why do people say Fender Mexico is junk and USA made is so much better? It’s obvious from this video that a good portion of the custom shop workers appear to be Mexican. They just live a few hours north of Ensenada otherwise they would be working there doing the same quality work that they do in Corona. I hope everyone on the gear page watches this video and gets educated.
not sure anyone says its junk offhand. maybe some do. anyhow, it's not just where the workers live. it's the materials and components chosen, and the amount of time the worker is allowed to spend on each step. it doesn't mean you can't find a good example of a MIM guitar. it just means you are more likely to find that custom shop examples are at a higher level more often.
Thank you to all of the hard working folks at Fender! And thanks for sharing, Casino!

How can you call it a "Custom Shop" when its just hundreds of people in a factory building a crap ton of guitars on an assembly line.
SMFH!
This guy is never going to be happy…
@@shaunhughes2 so does PRS on all their core models. They don’t call those “custom shop”
@@johnsmith-ug5tp what about them producing 1000+ exact same guitars to sell to dealers is “custom shop”?

The people they have as representatives from Fender are always the worst. They like sort of know what they're talking about that you can tell they're just a dude who's friends with someone who is already in management and got promoted to an easy desk job
Los que tienen custom Shop miran en menos a las fender mim ....el jefe de custom Shop es mexicano..y la mayoría de los operarios también....jajaja la diferencia es de que lado de la frontera los mexicanos fabrican las fender....

Custom
Custom shop is just a marketing joke , it’s just another assembly line really , be smart buy a regular guitar
Methinks the word ‘custom’ isn’t quite accurate. More like expensive fender assembly factory line. Can’t really see a luthier anywhere. Just a bunch of assembly workers getting about $25 per hour max for repetitive tasks. And we wonder why no one wants to do factory work.
Custom shop ? It is that they call custom shop ?
Distgusting
It’s a pity they never checked the radius on my custom shop nocaster headstock. The corner radius is far too rounded off. In hindsight I should have not bought the guitar. It looks crap
Why do people say Fender Mexico is junk and USA made is so much better? It’s obvious from this video that a good portion of the custom shop workers appear to be Mexican. They just live a few hours north of Ensenada otherwise they would be working there doing the same quality work that they do in Corona. I hope everyone on the gear page watches this video and gets educated.
I think its a joke calling a factory that uses hundreds of people to mass produce guitars on an assembly line a "custom shop"
not sure anyone says its junk offhand. maybe some do. anyhow, it's not just where the workers live. it's the materials and components chosen, and the amount of time the worker is allowed to spend on each step. it doesn't mean you can't find a good example of a MIM guitar. it just means you are more likely to find that custom shop examples are at a higher level more often.
@@A_NoidDude enough with everything sounds racist you add nothing positive to today’s world. I’m Mexican and didn’t read that at all in the OP. ✌🏼🤘🏼
@@ronnieparfait nah you’re right. I read it too quickly while being distracted, I take it back and will delete. Cheers bud.
