Halo: Reach probably had the best, most threatening, coolest interpretation of the Elites in a Halo game ever.
Definitely up there, but for me it was Halo CE
My theory on why they had the most threatening presence of the franchise was that the Covenant didnt pull any slack when they assigned and sent out the elites. They chose the strongest and fiercest amongst them. That's why they were such a threat on the field. The soldiers of Reach had virtually no idea what they were going up against, and if IIRC the Spartans were just as blind if not less. They truly lived up to their names.

They're all pretty good in my opinion. I mean they both take place in 2 completely different universes and have different technology, not to mention they have different game engines.

RedLobsterChad XBBQ2000 I’m sure animations have nothing to do with game engines, if you can move the camera to third person in both games and have a specific animation play for the bodies then it’s possible to do the same animations no matter what.
I like how the assassinations in Halo 5 always cause the Spartan to twitch and slide around once the animation ends
It's because unlike halo 4 and halo reach, the spartan does not die with the first contact, but only when they get stabbed the last time and so the ones that kill them have collision with the still solid body and glitch around

I like how in Reach they kept the assassinations simple but still managed to look good. They didn't try to over the top super soldier type assassinations.

Reach's Sword assassinations were so smooth and the Elite Assassinations were so brutal.
Fun fact, your Spartan in Reach actually drew their knife from wherever it happened to be on their torso armor but in Halo 4, Spartans seemed to have actual "hidden blades". If you watched closely during the assassination, the knife would seemingly materialize out of their wrists into their hand before disappearing back into the wrist area.
If you watch closely with the Shove It assassination in Halo 5, you actually kill them with their own knife. During the animation, the Spartan getting assassinated pulls out a knife as they are being spun around. Then the one doing the assassination makes them stab themselves in the face before they use their knee to drive the knife fully into their skull.
And you didn't even let the guy with Emile's armor do "Emile's Regards"

Halo Reach had the best variety of Assassinations with different animations for both Spartans, Elites and their victims. Halo 4 is runner up for making some pretty good assassinations with incorporating objectives as a nice touch. Halo 5 is that weird kid in the corner that tries to fit in with OTT animations (that you get from loot boxes), the sfx of the armour and that dreadful snap after it's finished

The halo 5 assassinations just feel like they have no impact to me. In reach you had the sound effect of the enemy’s shield breaking as you preformed one and it just felt so much more satisfying getting it.
That's because 343i Halo is complete and utter garbage
I highly doubt having the blows line up with shielding breaking will have too much effect. The current sound just isn't as satisfying.
Although I think H5 has some of best assassinations (the way of getting them is tedious and not fun).
Wyvern uh the shields break on the killing blow in halo 5 as well
I think the reason is that the assassinations are so... fake. You wouldn't see someone ever do that in real life, and the victim often looks weightless. Like, look at the "nice try" one. He just suddenly spins like crazy. I cannot at all see why he spins, but he does. Then, the other spartan simply picks him up like he doesnt weigh anything (Spartans are super strong, but another spartan still weighs a literal ton in armor), dangles him, and then stomps his head.
Some of the Reach ones are a bit excessive, compared to what an actual takedown with a knife or neck snap would look like, but they're still at least a bit grounded in realism.

@Iderus Namamee I mean, it's not just on the PC version. You can do this on console too. But yea...it's only in those game modes where you can play as an Elite. Though....in Halo 2 and 3, they didn't have specific game modes tied to being either a Spartan or Elite.
Some things I can appreciate about assassinations from all of the Halo games:
Halo CE, 2, 3: Fast, simple, didn't break up the action.
Reach: Introduced animated assassinations, Elite assassinations are super badass, and both the victim and assailant made noises while doing/receiving them.
4: Added new assassinations and expanded on what Reach did (but it cut the noises that the victim and assailant made).
5: Introduced the idea of victims fighting back during assassinations (they kinda did it in 4 with Crawlers biting, but it's a lot more prominent in 5). Also got really creative with each assassination and introduced named assassinations.

The addition of selectable custom assassinations in H5 was cool. But in infinite, it would be cool to have various assassination SETS we could choose from as opposed to just one animation for all. For instance, one set would be classic (Reach) having all original assassinations for your spartan. In Reach there were multiple animations ranging dependant on certain actions (I.e, crouch, jump, by ledge) which made it feel more diverse.
Having different assassinations would be more special this way
Or just none at all, I guess 🤔

The Elite and Spartans in Halo Reach look bigger and truly lifelike. Really shows just how menacing these two types of soldiers would have in real life.

Great video but you missed 1 assassination in reach lol, when a Spartan assassinates another Spartan with the energy sword in mid air.
Even in the far futute, a knife or dagger will still remains on of the most effective melee means of dealing with armored enemies.

Fastest Crib 5’s seem a bit too much like some of the serious ones lack any real struggle. Joke ones like the bane back breaker are fine since they’re a cheeky reference or goof, but some of the ones you’d expect to be more weighty feel and sound like the Spartans are made of plastic
@@Vexce11en1 dont forget spartans got an immense boost in physical strength, so they probably could pick up other spartans. i mean, they punch tanks to death, and if that isnt enough strength i dont know what is.

Did you notice that fisticuffs has two animations? When you do it from the ground he takes the spartans arm, while from the air he just pushes him down
My favorite assassination is halo 4’s oddball assassination cuz it just looks really cool seeing your spartan uppercut the opposing spartan with the ball causing them to disintegrate mid-air :P

I mean, while I will always have a super fondness for my ODST armor in Reach, I actually loved one armor set in particular from 4 and 5 and that was the Raider armor. The shoulders were similar to Recon shoulders and the helmet/face has a wolf-like design...and honestly looks pretty badass. I remember working so hard to get the DSTT variant in Halo 4 (basically gave it a digital camo pattern) and was a little bummed that they only had the plain variant in Halo 5.

@@zeeboss7553 oh yeah and it's amazing. Honestly this game (having played it on LASO) made you terrified of elites. They were a terrible force to be reckoned with and their own dialogue reflected that. They knew they were the Apex predator, albeit giving respect to the "Demons" they fought. But theyre so gritty and menacing. I love it.
Phelpo Rock I know, in the other games they seem like knights almost, civilized but badass, and they definitely still follow their code of honor in this game, but they are portrayed as more savage and almost barbaric, bungie purposely did this so they seemed more powerful than you, and it’s the reason you never hear an elite speak English in this game. That laugh that the elite lets out just sounds like he’s enjoying it so much.

The Halo 5 animations looked awesome, except... weirdly jittery, like you were watching them on 30 FPS.
The sound of the knife in Halo 5 is so unsatisfying. It sounds like someone just sampled someone using a stapler on a big slab of meat, not a blade piercing unbreakable armor, and even some of the assassinations sound like a knife cutting up some Tupperware

Truly horrible
There are a few of the Armors that weren't that bad from some of the later titles. Hell, my favorite armor set in the entire series aside from Reach's ODST (UA) set is only available in Halo 4. And that was the Raider DSTT armor set. The Raider armor has a wolf-like design to the face/helmet which looks pretty badass with shoulders similar to Recon.
You had to do reach a bunch of certain in-game requirements and then enter special codes to be able to get both the Raider and Raider DSTT (which gave it a digital camo pattern) to unlock the armors in Halo 4. I remember working on it for months to unlock the full DSTT set (some of the requirements were to beat all the Spartan Ops missions on Solo Legendary and you have to have completed at least 1,000 matches in Matchmaking) You can get the basic Raider armor in Halo 5 but they didn't include the DSTT version...which kinda bummed me seeing as they pretty much made 2-4 different pattern variants to every other armor set in the game.
