I came looking for this comment. I feel like there's not much difference between expensive and cheap sunglasses. Both stylistically and quality. With clothes there can be a huge difference in material and quality of construction, but with sunglasses that are mostly plastic or metal and similar construction, I really don't think it's worth the investment.
Tip: Don’t buy luxury sunglasses if you can find the same style for less or at. Big discount. They don’t last longer and aren’t made better. You’re paying for the label. My Ray-bans have outlasted all my luxury glasses including YSL, Gucci, and Tom Ford.
Very good points here, Lydia. Another factor for me is the quality of fit, particularly for those less standard parts of our bodies. If you have greater curves in a certain area, for example, sometimes it is worth it to spend more on the right fit that will flatter you best. If you are easy to fit, a basic item in a standard size will likely still look pretty good.

Saame Brazilian, Portuguese, Spanish people know it very well. No surprise all brands source and produce their leather goods in those countries ( from High end to middle range and beyond!) These are all consumption items. You invest with the goal of making money. Don’t fool yourself by using terms which sound like you are good with money. I like nice things but I never say I am investing in any clothing item or accessory. Even when I purchase quality items which will last for years. They are not investments.
I think it’s clear that they way she’s using the term investment is not in the traditional ROI financial manner, but rather pieces that you pay more for up front, which will last years. This is a common way people use the term. No point in splitting hairs.

Totally agree, the first criteria for all fashion should be that the piece is wearable. We are not mannequins. We need clothes that we can walk down the street in. The runway shows mostly look like space aliens. The models are emaciated, deathly pale, and depressed looking. The clothes are ridiculous, like nothing a real human could wear. Thank you for showing real life fashion on your videos.
I agree with everything you said, but I'm thinking that my favourite shirts are all silk and even the poplin shirts that I own the best tailored ones are all expensive unfortunately.
Last year, I got a very beautiful pair of Tod's like yours but in a dark tan. I got them at Holt Renfrew Montréal on sale for 445$ can. so it means for around 220 pounds I guess. They are si confortable and high quality. For that Price; an amazing investment!

I have some Isabel Marant trainers that I must have bought around 8-9 years ago. I used to be careful where I wore them as they are fur, but now I wear them everywhere (UK, rains a lot). Fur is only just starting to thin out at the toes. They are so well made, I will definitely invest in some more.
I would love to see similar video with broader outlook /experience of where to invest and where not to... Something without affiliate marketing, not that it matters much, but I think it would allow for a broader not restricted by marketing opinion of yours, Lydia. I agree on all points except for denim. Like somebody mentioned before it's a major difference between expensive and cheap denim. I also think it's not worth splurging on sportswear.
Great tips - I have never understood why someone would buy expensive denim/jeans or white trainers, when as you say, no one can tell the difference. Although if someone has the budget, and it makes sense to them, go for it :).
I am willing to spend a bit more on shoes if it means they are more comfortable, have better arch support, natural breathable material and such. It's not just the looks that matter :)
Omg SHOES are a must, comfort is essential for your feet, always worth the money, for classic shoes. Not so much Valentino platforms, just saying. Sunníes are great, i have Dior, Prada, Gucci and I need to say I have some fabulous not so expensive ones, that tend to go to more than the others. Just purchased a pair of black and grey Lily Silk trousers from your last video. I also highly recommend Eileen Fisher. I have invested, well not really I thrift a couple of black blazer, unfortunately, again I live in Florida, if I’ve worn them twice, it’s too much. I thrift as mush as possible. Especially if I invest in basic. Great video ! Always donate , it will most definitely help someone else.

Sometimes I feel small local producers are missing from alot of the conversation on youtube! In Ireland, the pricing can be closer to high end high street than the luxury price tag and the quality is amazing especially in tweeds, wools, linens here (were as Italy I'd imagine its broader range as has a deeper artisanal fashion culture). I also try to be a discerning sales and second hand shopper.

For example in Turin we have 3/4 markets specialised in clothes and accessories. We have also little shops but unfortunately they are dying because of crisis and a thinner middle class. Second hand is a very good choice too!!
I would add a good quality winter coat to the list of things worth investing in.
Personally I buy no less than 75% wool composition as anything less is too cold for me. Pricier but worth it

I would have a look at Winser, for trousers, ( they look great and look the same after hundreds of washes) and Holland Cooper for elevated basics.

Eh… I felt like a lot of these are trendy pieces but you reference them as never going out of style. Usually love your videos but this was just OK.
