- In this video, we take alook at the all-new ODROID GO SUPER! With a 5 Inch IPS Screen Dual, analog sticks, and a quad COre 1.3GHZ CPU this handheld is could turn out to be amazing in 2021!
We do an unboxing, Go over the Specs test out some Dreamcast Neogeo and PSP, and finally do a tear down to see what's inside!
This new version has a 5 Inch Screen with a resolution of 854x480, Dual Analog Sticks, and a 4000Mah battery! priced at $80 and coming at the end of January 2021 Powered by the RK3326 with a Mali G31 GPU

ETA got me into emulation on Rpi's, AND back into PC gaming after 10+ years! I just got the $450 HP Black Friday gaming laptop, which I'm using right now. It's perfect for my decade long list of missed games, like Doom 2016. I already have a 1TB game/ storage SSD installed and its run everything I've tried so far, locked at 60fps (plenty good for me!) ETA is the man!!!

It’s fantastic, that the screen is bigger....I hope it’s a trend with other handhelds moving forward! But not changing the chip set was a huge missed opportunity....especially with what’s about to come out from other handheld manufacturers...but still a very nice upgrade to the housing and screen at least! Definitely needs some PsVita analogs sticks slapped in there too 👌
Everyone says they are disappointed at the chipset but for $80 this is a nice little linux handheld to putz around with, also keep in mind PANDEMIC, supply chains around the world are still struggling with state mandated disruptions, for all we know they wanted to get a better soc but just couldn't and as a company they need to pay bills like the rest of us they can't just wait around forever, while obviously not ideal selling a less than perfect product still nets them some revenue as opposed to no revenue at all while they wait and hope that the newer part becomes available
Edit: I just learned that you can replace the joysticks with vita joysticks you can buy off ebay
You can buy a chip device as or more powerful for less money though.....so.....why?
So close to my dream handheld. Holding out until dreamcast / segasaturn / and gamecube are easily portable.

For what it is and at $80 it's a really decent step up from the previous. I get some people wanted more, but the larger PCB also means they will now have more room to work with for later. I think we should treat this more of a first version with a better one to come later. (Btw the small price increase for the better screen, battery and second analog already makes it a better buy to me then the odroid advance unless you really want the smaller form factor)
I am surprised these devices are not more mainstream. I have a similar device and people are amazed when they see it.

Honestly I'm being overwhelmed with the sheer amount of choices of handheld emulators, kinda crazy
Now this is the handheld form factor I've been waiting for! Would loved to have seen a CPU upgrade but I get whey there isn't yet. A 4:3 screen would be nice but they are getting much harder to come by I suspect. One other thing I would personally like is for the L/R buttons to be stacked like the RP2 but I can deal with that. The size is absolutely perfect.

This has dedicated buttons and a tablet sized screen. So just a better handheld experience. Thus why I use a Wii U to emulate the same games I can emulate on my phone and use the red knight for buttons. Bigger screen and better buttons=a better gaming experience

For those of you complaining about the chipset, realize that the supply of most varieties of ARM parts are extending into severe supply delays ("lead times" in engineering parlance) so this is a smart move by HardKernel to be able so still produce/sell them. I personally don't care about any emulation newer than SNES and the USB port should support 2600-dapter for using real 2600 controllers, yay... The real selling point for me the is GPIO, allowing hacking/coding projects with my son which makes it very educational in addition to the great gaming experience--thanks HardKernel for keeping this. Thanks for the nice preview as usual!!!
Looks like a interesting device to look out for 2021. I personally would be interested in a comparison of sbc in the range (price, performance and ram) of the raspi 4, 8gb. Thank you and a happy and healthy 2021 to you and your loved ones.

And ur mini pc etc. Videos are essentiel info fool proof introductions i still dont know if i should buy a mini pc or build one from parts in a case just want it to be not too expensive and not too big a case cause the room not so big,and myself being mega drive era kid cant have enough of this content. I have so many of these handhelds with my favorite to date being the RG350M, but I’m pulling the plug on buying anymore until they step up the hardware.
2021 is the birth year for 5 inches China handheld gaming! Will wait for the rest of the company to release their 🎮

This is perfect for me. I've been waiting for a decent 5" screen with dual analog and all the triggers. I don't care about emulating anything above PS1 and possibly a few DC games so this fits the bill nicely. Purchased the preorder at Ameridroid. Looking forward to trying it out.

this. I would much rather have a console with controls and a screen that can be used. I don't want a 16:9 screen to play only 4:3 games, I don't want a right analogue stick if barely any games go with. love the 280V as it's exactly how I like them
The second analog could be used for c buttons from n64. Current oga only can map 2 or 4 c buttons well.
@@jordicoma the left joystick is as useful as nipples in men
RK3326 is plenty for native ports tho, there are a lot of Open Sourced titles out there that are better played with full joystick controls. Not all of them are ported already, but I've seen some progress as of late, from both myself and other devs.
But everyone complains if these devices don’t have 4 shoulder buttons and dual analog sticks...

Apple devices lack the ability to be repaired, if it breaks, be prepared to just re-purchase a replacement if it's out of warranty.

Should've used an allwinner a23, RockChip are terrible in my opinion.

It's the same as is in the ODroid Go Advance... So, if you like the OGA, RK2020, RG351p, RGB10, RGB20, etc, this is just that, but bigger.
I was getting tired of these RK3326 units, but that's an impressive price point and value. Just needs a factory heatsink and a black option.
I really like the look and button layout of this device. I really wish they would have upgraded the hardware inside though. I will wait for a RP4 handheld or something that can run DC fullspeed

Get a telescopic controller like the saitake 7007x and a cheap android like the poco m3
@@tranquility6789 Like I said before, I thought about it, but really don't want to go that route. I like the little handheld gadgets. Besides a Poco m3 is not cheap anymore. I could get a Motorola G for cheaper. I have seen some of ETA primes android phone video's and really do not want a android phone.

Odorous Go Advance BE has a glass screen...the original had the plastic screen. They are TFT screens are are absolutely beautiful. Very vibrant with great viewing angles it looks like an IPS screen. It's that good.
I like odroid as a company. Have an XU4 and ora n64 case. Good community and company. Ameridroid was a great place to buy them here in the states.
i actually own the RP2 (Retroid Pocket 2) and it's amazing! though i do like how the odroid-go super is practically the same size as a switch lite.

Holy crap that PCB is like a blank sheet of paper. Just an SoC direct to a battery and LCD.
This handheld is bigger and better then the Pi Boy DMG beats the pi boy by almost 50% more of everything. 1.5 inches of more screen, 12 Gameplay buttons instead of 8-10, and 2 analog sticks, better resolution.... and they still manage to sell it to use for half of the price.... Just Truly Amazing... I just pre ordered mines. Should be hear in march
I might have to pick this bad boy up looks very clean so far in video runs psp tekken very well it could increase performance doing firmware updates for it.
This really needed a processor upgrade, wifi, bluetooth and the addition of stereo speakers. Then it would be on track to be the best emulation handheld of 2021.

They are getting everything right with these devices apart from putting absolutely bottom of the bin hardware in. A 480p screen being driven on hardware that frankly, gets beaten by a toaster. Wake me when someone comes out with a snapdragon device or at least something that beats 5 years old tegra technology.
They should put a Mediatek Dimensity 800/1000 in there
@@AdvancedGamingYT anything more powerful. Ideal you would go with a 16 9 screen, and resolution wise I would go with double a psp for perfect x2 scaling on ppsspp and everything else can work around it. So a decent soc, driving a screen that is 960x544 (exactly the same as a vita). That fits perfectly for 2x psp, is great for 2x downscale dreamcast as well. And everything emulation wise that is less, will fit fine into that resolution.
@@kristianity77 True and for a pro model they could put a Dimensity 820 with a 1080p screen and 5000 Mah battery. It could easily run even wii games at at 2×

Got mine today....fantastic piece of kit, buttons are a bit on the poor side, but the screen is amazing...just awaiting a tutorial on how to swap out the buttons for PS vita ones....

Looking at the back cover it looks like you could easily fit a second speaker for stereo. What I don't know is, whether it's possible to get stereo audio from the port on the main board or if a different port is required.
At least they took the right steps into a better form factor/display size. Now they need to keep looking forward into a more powerful chipset and better ram configuration... I hope they do it before any other maker bring the rpi4 cm into the game.
My original advance is running a slightly modified raspberry pi 1 heatsink. Had to file it down a couple of mm and attached with heat sink tape. Got to help getting some metal in there
I would of liked a beefer chip/ram setup. This way I could play some Android games which need more raw horsepower on it. It's a really nice form factor and hopefully a updated version comes out later in the year.
I'm curious what the streaming performance will be with the USB wifi adapter. I love the layout so this is definitely on my radar.

The creators are headed in the right direction. Not sure I’d buy one till they upgrade the hardware.
The right direct has so far taken them 6 years of bender quite getting and always feeling like the next version will be "the one". It could happen but it keeps not happening
Hopefully the retail release will have a better quality case, buttons and analog stick, looks a bit DIY. Wish they went with the same recessed analog sticks the RG351 uses

If this had analog triggers and wi fi 6 it could have been a great streaming machine for GFN or Stadia etc. I would have definetly bought it.

Hmm, very tempting at $80 (2 sticks is a must, for me, for PS1, n64, and even MAME)... but HDMI out and a second controller are high on my personal list. I think I'll hold out for a PiBoy DMG handheld w/ a Pi4 for its extra power and full feature set.

You can already get pre-built units that do the job. I have one. It's a little laggy with the newer systems, but I got a cheap one for casual Tetris playing and portable SNES gaming. This is likely a lot better than mine, without question, and I should get a better one for newer systems.
Same same, I've got to order the PiBoy DMG. Bloody amazing system. I do like the new design of the Odroid Super but I'm not super impressed with another RK3326 device in the market. I'm just kind of luke warm in this one.

I've been googling for a Switch smaller than the lite. One with tiny removable joycons.

I really was hoping a better chipset on this one, specially considering the clones that are going to be released still using this same chipset.

I’m impressed with these systems. Of course, I’d of liked a new processor, higher ram and wifi- I would have paid.... double. :P we are getting close(r) to a complete linux os in our pockets. For ME, the game boy one that accepts a raspberry pi 4 is hard to beat. But man I like this form factor. Thanks.

No operating system is installed. Best find two or three good ones before purchase. You also need a wireless adaptor to add games.
I really want a device with this form factor where I can run steam games. I'm guessing this one has no problem running something like the exodos collection.
On retroarch you can just use full screen and the feature that smooths out pixels bro. That way you get a full screen experience without any noticable pixalation.
I play GBA games that way on a 60" 4k screen and they look just as good as new indie titles with the same graphics made for 16:9. As you know GBA's native aspect ratio is even smaller than 4:3.
