    I found this post on The Bell Tree Forums about plot resetting! ^_^
    Q: What is plot resetting?
    A: Plot resetting is a neat trick that allows players to practically determine where villagers that are moving in will live. This isn't hacking or anything similar. It is a trick that many players use.
    Q: How does it determine where villagers live?
    A: It determines where villagers live if the correspondent correctly uses this feature correctly.
    Q: How do I plot reset?
    A: Plot resetting is very simple. To do it, create a new save file then look around your town and look for a plot where your villager will be moving in. If one doesn't appear, try again. If you don't like the spot, do not save the game, turn off your device or return to the home menu and try again. You might have to do it a couple of times to get the spot you desire.
    Q: What is the plot phase?
    A: The plot phase is when the villager's home is not present but is instead shown with a sign and ropes for where their house will go.
    Q: What is the move in phase?
    A: The move in phase is the day after the plot phase where the actual house will be shown.
    Q: What time in my town can I plot reset?
    A: In your town you can plot reset anytime after six in the morning to the next morning at six in the morning. As long as the day has not been saved or loaded before you attempt it (6am 2/3/17 - 5:59am 2/4/17 will be considered the same day).
    Q: What if I have four files in my town already?
    A: Then you cannot plot reset. You must have at least one save file open.
    Q: The ACNL (Animal Crossing New Leaf) day starts at six in the morning?
    A: Yes it does. The game loads/resets at six in the morning.
    Q: On a day a villager is supposed to move in, I cannot load the town using a separate file?
    A: Yes. You cannot load the town at all. If you do it will not work.
    Q: Can I time travel, then plot reset?
    A: Yes, you can. When you time travel, make sure you set your town before six in the morning, save and quit from the game, and then wait for it to be six and follow the proper procedures.
    Q: How can I prevent a villager from moving in to a certain spot?
    A: I personally place designs across my town to prevent villagers from moving in to a certain spot. With the WA (Welcome Amiibo) update, designs are a safer bet in my opinion. I've seen them move on top of flowers, trees, bushes, and designs. PWPs (Public Work Projects) can be used to prevent villagers to move in. Just like houses, they cannot move in within two blocks (including diagonally) of the public work project.
    Q: Where can a villager move in?
    A: Mostly anywhere. That’s the troubling part. That is why a lot of people plot reset. It is impossible for them to plot directly next to buildings. This includes villager houses.
    Q: Are the resets saved?
    A: No, not at all. All of the resets aren't saved. The game treats the resets as it did not happen.
    Q: Can I plot scout if I don’t know a villager is moving in?
    A: Yes! I recommend plot scouting everyday if you have enough space in your town for a villager to move in (ten is the maximum number of villagers you can have). If you plot scout everyday you will have more control of which villager moves in and where a villager moves in. More control over your town. Remember that just because you have space does not mean a villager will move in.
    I used to be Krystal Delgado by the way! You visited my now destroyed town Gumville! :)

      So glad I found this. I just recently started playing Animal crossing games and had to do A LOT of research in order to play (which I initially just dove right into the ac world blinded) and now that I went through creating a town and I felt ready to start over with all my new founded info but now in my new town ALL the new characters I’m trying to get all literally clustered around me I’m 3 or 4 days in and I have paid off my new home and unlocked the island and can do my second bridge and now this 😫 I used an amibo card to get Cherry but I’m too frustrated

    This is probably pretty obvious but let's say you were to oh I don't know put paths EVERYWHERE in hopes that no one moves in. If there is no available spot due to laid out designs they will go back to ignoring them and put a plot down regardless of if there was a design down or not. So just accept that you can't only have 8 or 5 (if you just started out) villagers and make sure to have a place ready when it's time for someone to move in.

    so yesterday I knew there was gonna be a villager moving in, and I didn't want their house plopped right on top of my hybrids. I spent a butt load of time working and at the end of the day I felt pretty confident that there was only one 3 by 3 area. I left my ds on that night, and it saved when I opened it in the morning. I was excited to see if the plot resetting had worked. so when i walked down, i didn't see anything. I ran all across my town only to find their house right in front of my beach entrance!!!! I tried resetting but it had already saved and there was nothing I could do. the worst part about it all.... IT WAS MOLLY!!! I'm not saying your video didn't help. if anything, I'm saying it helped a lot! I need to be more careful about things in the future. thank you if you read this far!

    I wish they made stuff like this easier. For example, whenever you get a new villager, isabelle will warn you ahead of time and say something like, "This villager doesnt know where to place their home and would really like your help on that so they dont have to worry about it" then, Tom Nook will go with you around town so you can choose the spot for the villagers house and once you decide, he will reserve the plot for that villagers home. Then the next day, they move in and unpack like they normally would.

    This is great to know. I actually redid my town a few minutes ago and I really want my new town to be the best of all, so knowing how to get villagers to move into certain spots is great.
    The reason why I redid my town is because I had my original one since the game came out, and I didn't have the best mentality on it XD Luckily Nook sold it in exchange for over 13 million bells because I just started getting it rather pretty only a month ago, but it still wasn't how I wanted it to be...wish me luck.

  • @ebonymcpherson4872
    @ebonymcpherson4872 6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

    I made this process a little easier by placing designs in a 2x2 pattern and leaving only 3x3 spaces where I wanted the villagers instead of placing the designs randomly. It easy to set the 2x2 designs once you get the pattern ^^

    It doesn't seem like anyone else is having the specific problem I am, so I'll say it here since this is where it all started: I did this trick in my brand-new town (less than a month old) and the first time a random move in plopped their house down wherever they wanted I was sure I had just missed a spot. The second time it happened I assumed the same, but this time i tried giving the designs even spacing around town. After being confident the only 3x3 spaces left were ones I planned, the next move in randomly placed their house wherever again. I assumed it was a mistake on my part. This continued until yesterday. A villager moved in onto a plot directly next to my house, which had a design in it! I know this because when I went to plot reset using another villager, the plot moved and the design was there. So far, they've avoided my actual paths, but having a single design in the middle of a 3x3 area clearly doesn't work for me. I also noticed that the villager changes during plot resetting and that happened a few times in my old town (which HAD been updated) as well. I'm super frustrated! My plan for now is to place designs in lines around town, but if it doesn't work I don't know what I can do next...

    I'm glad I found this!! I'm just now starting to focus on my town layout more and I was getting Olivia to move in, and I used the traditional technique, and there wasn't even a plot and the house was built immediately????? So I couldn't reset it. She was also in the worst spot possible so sadly I'm going to have to let her go. But I also used designs to mark where I wanted my villagers to be so this video saved me from a lot of future hassle lol.

  • @aesthetically-cozy

    Thanks Crystal this helped me a lot! i was starting to give up after 10+ tries for Chrissy (in this situation, i had accidentally tried to move Chrissy to replace another villager but forgot to cover up my ‘new character plot’ that i used as a temp for the resets LOL so she kept moving into my temp character spot). i am moving my dreamies in as amiibos. so i found as many guides as i could on this, but a visual of yours helped.
    For me though, as an example, i had 10 villagers originally before i wanted to move another amiibo in to replace one of my own. i was getting in the habit of using the plot reset for some houses i had placed perfectly, with keeping in mind about the 3x3 design.
    I would scan an amiibo in for ex. Feb 1, and it would say to move another villager out. When i had chosen my villager to move out. it would tell me that the villager will move out tomorrow and that chrissy would move in. I tt to Feb 2 @ 5:55a to save & quit my mayor file. then opened up ‘new save file’ and “rinsed and repeated” as many times to try and get Chrissy out of that stubborn character spot i had made and forgot to cover up. after that many tries like i said in the beginning, she finally moved 😂. i was persistent but i would say this took me between 10-20 tries and ofc i took a break so it’s been 2-3 days i think for me until she moved. i’m writing this now as my ‘new character’ is standing before the town hall to precede with saving (:

    Crystal...honestly I have villagers in my town that are so cool! They're my best friends too in the series. One of my best friends in my town is a wolf named Lobo (which I wonder if you've heard of), and a monkey named Flip. All the villagers in my town are so awesome although I've wondered before if I'd possibly get some new ones too! Now understand that it seems like every player's town is different and reaches certain occupancies. One of my most recent villagers is still farely new and he moved in about 4 months ago maybe? But I do appreciate your how to videos a lot and I find them very helpful too.

    Okay, I’m sorry for this, and you probably mentioned it and I didn’t catch it, but what happens if I’m playing the game normally, with my normal character and I happen to come across a spot where a villager has planned to move in. Do I save and quit, or reset. Then am I supposed to load up with the disposable character? And will the plot be moved? I’m sorry, I just don’t understand this. Keep in mind that when I first found the plot, I was using a villager that I normally play the game with.

    So I created a new save file a few days ago and started putting down designs after the sixth villager moved in, I made sure I didn't miss a spot and I have the welcome amiibo update and I left a few open 3x3 spaces where I wanted the seventh villager and later villagers to move into. However, the seventh villager did not move into one of the spaces I left open and moved in over a design, the eighth villager did the same thing. I can't get them into the open spaces, is it because my town is too 'new'? Now I'm praying the ninth villager moves into one of the spots I left open. All of your AC videos have been super helpful, thanks :)

    im so happy I managed to find this video because I'm trying to make a front and backyard area around my house and some idiot just moved in RIGHT INFRONT OF MY HOUSE. So I'm really hoping this method works cause I'm so down to try it, mainly cause I can't hack my town like I really want to

    I'll admit I did think I could get away with not having to put patterns everywhere after the update.
    I changed my tune after dealing with Shari, Francine and Ganon. Shari and Ganon took FOREVER to sort out, Francine was a Streetpass villager from the same day I was out. I simply didn't log into my game before I left the house, so I suffered the consequences.
    Now if I have 9 villagers and if I were to go out, I ensure that I log into my game before I go.

    Doin this right now.. sucks placing all the tiles but if I want this I gotta do it, I am also working towards getting my favourite villagers in the amiibo card packs because I have basically given up on trying to get people to move out so I’m literally forcing them now lol, so I need to get the villager cards I really want before I start to move people into the spaces, good tutorial!

    Ok so I asked a villager to moving and when I got back to my town I saved and went to the next day.
    That villager was on my flower patch so I wanted to move them but the plot reserve was already placed. Is there anyway to move them if they've already picked a spot. I try doing the whole new character thing but he just stays in the same spot and won't move???
    Someone help 😭😅

    i was thinking, if you cover most of the land in designs wouldn't that stop villagers from moving in and over time more vilagers could possibly leave and once they do you could put designs down where they left so that you could make it so that at some point you could get back to 2-3 villagers in your town haha

    • @SimplyPressStart
      @SimplyPressStart  7 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      If you put down so many designs that there is no space to move in, villagers will simply move in anywhere they want on top of the designs :P

    Something funny is that I have an area I call the Residential district, because of my love of Xenoblade.
    It's basically an area of my town where the majority of my villagers live, including me.
    It's hilarious because the southern side of the River is completely uninhabited.

    I’m trying to make a beautiful forest place with flowers everywhere, same with trees and when villagers move in they don’t move into the random ones, THEY RUN INTO THOSE CARNATIONS and I have to redo the same intro over and over until finally, they move into a spot where my most prized flowers aren’t crushed.

    • @brookiecookie7847
      @brookiecookie7847 7 ปีที่แล้ว +7

      When you make a new character it doesn't automatically save your game before you enter it as it does when you use your regular character. So if it save then it will save the villager in it's current plot.

    Recently bought a second cartridge to start a new town and something bugged with my town because I have literally six villagers circling my house.. one villager is three spaces to the left of retail... I had no clue they were able to move in so close to my house/the town plaza/etc. it's irritating me to the point I'm planning on resetting my town. Glad I didn't invest too much time into it but still... grrr...

    It's not working for me. For some reason. I filled my town with patterns and left spaces 3x3 for the villagers, with a pattern in the middle of each one to choose the place where the villager will live. The previous day I remove this pattern that is in the middle of a 3x3 space for the villager to stay in it. It just does not happen. They can find some place where I have not set standards or remove standards from a certain location, but do not move to 3x3 spaces. I tired of doing the plot reset and nothing. I'm very depressed.

    Okay so I'm back with a second comment (sorry not sorry) and I had Rowan move in from the campsite the other day. I spend my time placing designs everywhere and leaving a few open spaces where I wanted him to move in. Today I made a temporary character to check out where he placed his house, turns out I missed placing designs at one place and plot resetting has 0 effect... I mean, bad luck I guess but I would be fine with it if his house was placed 1 space back, then it would line up with mine but now it doesn't rip

    Maybe kind of late to wright a comment but I have a question, or two to be exact. The first one: do I have to create a second charakter? And the second question: could I just place the designs in the middle of a 3x3 place and that all over the town exept the one place that I want the villager to move to? (ps. I'm german and not really good in english, I still learn, but your video was helpfull ^^. So excuse my english please)

    • @SimplyPressStart
      @SimplyPressStart  7 ปีที่แล้ว

      +poke kind You do have to create a second character (because the game saves when you first enter in as your main character), but you can delete the second character after.
      You could, and that's what I do personally :)

    I was lucky enough to have villagers move in to places that were not too inconvenient so I didn't bother with this. Until a camper I invited in took out half my new orchard( I was both sad and happy when she decided to move out). So yeah, as much as this is tedious and boring to do, it's necessary if you don't want villagers to ruin all your hard work.
