  • Career paths open for graduate student researchers after they do a PhD (doctor of philosophy, doctorate degree) include postdoctoral studies or postdoctoral fellowship. The advantages and limitations of doing a postdoc are discussed. Some ideas are given to make your postdoctoral research experience more fruitful. Postdoctoral research is often required in the sciences as well as by top research universities from PhD and doctoral program graduates who want to apply for a faculty position or a professor job.

    Is it very important to attend foreign conference during PhD?? Does it contribute to cv development or help in gaining brownie points?

      Conference presentations help to develop presentation skills and let me know how to function in the global academic setup. Getting the passport, visa and travel start you off in an integral part of the academic and research life. Developing a global network is key to getting visibility and even referees and examiners down the road. A visa on your passport helps to get visas lates for postdoc etc. These videos may help

    Dear Dr Ganguly, I am just completing my biology phd but I will have just one publication. Will I be competitive enough for a postdoc?

      There are many countries and universities around the world. So try for less competitive places

    Well explained sir. I have a query regarding this. Can we pursue post doc along with some temporary/regular job such as teaching or any other such position?

    • @Drganguli
      @Drganguli  ปีที่แล้ว

      It could be done in some unofficial or part time capacity if an organisation and guide agrees to work with you. It would be more of a research collaboration though. If you don’t care for getting paid, many such arrangements are possible. If you want to get paid they may ask for office hours. But a half pay offer may be possible for half time…
