I think it’s wonderful that you’re showing people that there are non-toxic cleaning solutions. However, please be careful what you tell people to mix together. You should put a disclaimer that if you mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide it could create peracetic acid, which may be toxic and can irritate your throat and lungs, eyes and skin.
If you put baking soda on a cookie sheet and put it in the oven for 1 hour at 400 degrees then a chemical reaction occurs that turns it into washing soda. I find it beneficial for myself if I only have to buy one product instead of multiple in terms of storage. I hope this information helps someone out there
Thank you so much for this video!! I would really appreciate a video about personal care products as well- deodorant, lotions, cleansers, shampoo, and make up😀 I realize you’re a pediatrician and you’re talking here more about children’s issues, but I would love to know more about make up as well please.
@@ana-mariatemplemd Lol. Look who slept through chemistry! Soaps are alkaline sodium salts of fatty acids. At low pH the equilibrium shifts from soaps to protonated fatty acids, which are insoluble. Raise the pH and the equilibrium shifts back to soluble soaps.
I would have to disagree if this video is all about nontoxic items. Creating a toxic gas might be defeating the purpose. You have to be careful with what you mix even if they’re non-toxic items. Mixing together, they might not be.
@@ana-mariatemplemd The minuscule amounts used by clueless DIY enthusiasts are worthless. Vinegar is not a fabric softener, BTW. That idea is based on wishful thinking.
When making the liquid dishwasher detergent does it matter which Dr. Bronners soap to use? I have the one in the blue bottle which is peppermint and I noticed u used the purple one which I believe that’s lavender but do u think the peppermint would be okay?
It's an alkaline substance that can be used for general household cleaning, and even for the laundry. I would make or use a clothe detergent with baking soda

Amazing. I did not know this.
The water just evaporates.
It is true but years ago when I dud cost comparisons the washing soda was cheaper for cleaning.
Its not just about creating a healthier environment in our homes it is also for the environment outside.😊
I loved, loved, loved this video!!!! Thank you!!!

Thank you so much 💓 I didn't know this about vinegar as rinse aid
keep up the great work! loved ur book!!!!
Thanks so much for your kind words. I would be grateful for an Amazon book review when you get a second 💙
Very helpful! Thanks!
Great advice and life saving. Thank you
For the dish soap, I thought that lemon and Castile soap curdled and cancelled each other out since one is acidic and one is basic.
I have not found to be the case
Soaps are insoluble in acidic solutions. By lemon I assume you mean lemon juice.

Question: Are you supposed to use distilled white vinegar or regular white vinegar?
Great video
Does the dishwasher detergent you make is it safe for the dishwasher and will not kill the machine ?
Great recipes . And easy. ☺Quick questions though - I heard not to mix peroxide and vinegar. Would it be safe to use like you showed in the washer?
She’s not adding enough to make a difference. The vinegar is introduced to rinse water, the peroxide to wash water.

Many people succumb to respiratory failure from everyday, pure and simple, nontoxic substances, such as dihydrogen monoxide!
Can I use Eco dish soap instead?
My front loader washing machine doesn’t have a pre-wash option/slot… where should I put the washing soda???
I sometimes chuck it on top of the clothes in the washing machine
One more concern, after using these products, my towels/clothes came out hard. Any solutions to this? Maybe add less vinegar? Help!!
@@tipsydancer73 vinegar softens the laundry. Soda wash counteracts the effects of hard water. I use dryer balls in the dryer. 🤔

Apple cider vinegar for clothes❤
Which Dr Bronner do you use? I have the baby unscented bottle
I like the smell of lavender. Un scented is perfect

It does not matter. Use the one you have.
You will regret doing so!

Dr Booners is a hard NO
I did this for the dishwasher and everything had visible residue leftover on it 🥲
That’s so annoying.
