I think it’s wonderful that you’re showing people that there are non-toxic cleaning solutions. However, please be careful what you tell people to mix together. You should put a disclaimer that if you mix vinegar and hydrogen peroxide it could create peracetic acid, which may be toxic and can irritate your throat and lungs, eyes and skin.

If you put baking soda on a cookie sheet and put it in the oven for 1 hour at 400 degrees then a chemical reaction occurs that turns it into washing soda. I find it beneficial for myself if I only have to buy one product instead of multiple in terms of storage. I hope this information helps someone out there

It is true but years ago when I dud cost comparisons the washing soda was cheaper for cleaning.

Thank you so much for this video!! I would really appreciate a video about personal care products as well- deodorant, lotions, cleansers, shampoo, and make up😀 I realize you’re a pediatrician and you’re talking here more about children’s issues, but I would love to know more about make up as well please.

For the dish soap, I thought that lemon and Castile soap curdled and cancelled each other out since one is acidic and one is basic.

    • @ana-mariatemplemd

I have not found to be the case

Soaps are insoluble in acidic solutions. By lemon I assume you mean lemon juice.

Lol. Look who slept through chemistry! Soaps are alkaline sodium salts of fatty acids. At low pH the equilibrium shifts from soaps to protonated fatty acids, which are insoluble. Raise the pH and the equilibrium shifts back to soluble soaps.

    • @FrankGutowski-ls8jt

She’s not adding enough to make a difference. The vinegar is introduced to rinse water, the peroxide to wash water.

I would have to disagree if this video is all about nontoxic items. Creating a toxic gas might be defeating the purpose. You have to be careful with what you mix even if they’re non-toxic items. Mixing together, they might not be.
