      Thank you for your review on your favorite dish cloths, I have wanted to try them didn’t want to waste $$ on them if I didn’t like them. Most of my cheap microfiber cleaning cloths are needing to be placed in the throw away rags (you know those jobs that require you to throw the rag away because you know you won’t want to use it again: e.g. poop, car oil, mold 😝). I was looking for something to replace them with and this video helped me make that decision.
      Lol
      It makes me smile knowing I have nice cleaning cloths and helps me want to clean.

    A note on Dollar Tree’s “Awesome”. I definitely water down the cleaner and have for years! But my favorite places to use it are 1) If I have a really dirty set of sheets and pillow cases, I put them in a stopped up kitchen sink and pour an entire bottle of Awesome over them and add enough water to make sure everything is soaked. I let them sit for several hours, drain the water out, and then put them in the washer and dryer. They come out much much better than just washing for $1.25!!
    I’ve even cleaned a king size cross-stitched quilt made for me by my grandmother as a wedding gift 50 years ago. It had a white background so I was trying to be really careful! It worked perfectly. I only dried it half way and then laid it out to finish drying!
    2) My young daughter ground a tube of RED lipstick into our living room carpet, 30-40 years ago, right in a walking spot. I rented a carpet cleaner and used the cleaner they sell when you rent them; it didn’t work. Then I had a professional carpet cleaning company come; it didn’t work either. Then a man selling Awesome door to door, came by several months later. I laughed, telling him the story, and said if he could get it out, I would buy the $45 gallon bottle of Awesome!! He came in with his watered down spray bottle, and sprayed it on using about 5-8 sprays, then ran his fingers over it gently to work it in a little. He had a few dry white rags and folded them several times and laid it right over the spot, then stood up and stepped on the rag to blot up the cleaner. Just the first try removed at least 90% of the dark red stain. He cleaned it 2 more times in the same way and the RED lipstick was completely gone!! Yes, I bought the gallon and only used it watered down for quite a few years. I even purchased it several more times over the years. But, the day I saw Awesome in Dollar Tree was the day I hit the jackpot to me!!! I’ve even cleaned my car seats and headliner of the car with it! I’m a true believer!!

    So glad you loved my Dollar Tree finds and O Cedar mop! Yay! ❤️❤️ That was COMMITMENT on that oven! I’m over here going NOOO 🤣🤣. In my experience, the steam shot works best with filmy grease/sticky residue. For me, steam alone doesn’t take off really thick, baked-in buildup- it needs agitation and an agent. So in the places you described (in my shower corners for example) I had soft soap I let sit then I steam away. I also use baking soda on a lot of appliances with it- mine comes with brush agitators which I use almost every time!
    It’s best feature IMO is for crevices you can’t reach with a cloth alone- under toilets, corners and window sills. ❤️☺️
    I love that you unapologetically know yourself and what will work for you and what won’t. Truly half the battle! You are an inspiring voice on this platform! Always enjoy your content! 🤗

      I'll vouch for Kathryn and the steam shot! I rarely purchase products pushed by influencers but was so intrigued, I bought one and I LOVE IT! You're right, it works best for crevices that can't be reached with a cloth. It definitely comes in handy when cleaning window and door tracks and I use it to sanitize my bathrooms. I recently used it to clean my baseboards, it worked like a charm!

      I love my steamer for toilets, especially if you have boys. I literally steam every inch from top to bottom and then just wipe with a clean absorbent cloth. Where my steamer really pays off is my shower door and the metal track around it. It blasts all the gunk out that I really can’t get to very easily.

    I use to hate cleaning but now I Love it. Everyday when you vacuum just use the vacuum tools to hit the doors and moldings and it makes the "Spring" & "Fall" big cleans go so much faster. Been using those $tree products for years and love them. My favorite cleaning products are Bar Keepers Friend, magic erasers, baking soda w/vinegar and cut up old t-shirts. My favorite cleaning tips are, make it a FAMILY mindset that cleaning is expected from everyone who is privileged to live in the home. If you see something that needs doing and you can do it, then DO. If you like something, take care of it. When teaching kids to clean teach them to spray cleaners onto cloth first and be aware of overspray. Sorry so long, just a subject I Love so much more than decluttering.☺ Borderline Hoarder here.

      @@Dbb27 thank you for doing that and not modeling for your children that cleaning sucks so they learn to hate it i wish my parents had done what you did cleaning can be so fun but it takes a lot of work for me to see it that way beca of everyone adult always telling me how much they hated it and how much it suck

    • @Dbb27
      @Dbb27 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      @@queenofcookie3299 when I was a kid it wasn’t a choice. I was number three of four so maybe there was some resistance from my older brothers but it was just what you did every Saturday morning and during the summer we all had chores. I’m not a top notch housekeeper and have to watch myself as I can be really really scattered. I just don’t judge cleaning/chores and there’s some godliness in taking care of our homes or people around us. But I can be lazy!
      With my kids I always made it a game when they were really little and I could get away with it. And I think it’s really important to never diss a little ones work. Never say, oh just let me do it. Let them take pride even if they made as much mess as there already was. People who don’t know how to adult for themselves sometimes stay in bad relationships due to dependency. It’s not a positive when parents do everything for their kids.

    I have a Bissell Steamshot and I love it! I believe scrubbing with a brush attachment while steaming, instead of scrubbing after the steam has dissipated, would open a whole new world for you. (Basically the same concept as the Shark steam mop on the kitchen floor.)
    My method for really stubborn dirt is to spray the surface first, use the brush attachment to scrub with steam, then wipe dry with the microfiber cloth. I do not recommend using anything but water, it can damage the everything - hoses, attachments, heating element - everything.

    There is one difference between e-cloth and other microfiber rags: e-cloth can be washed at 95°C, which means it can be used to clean up absolutely anything no matter how gross and be sanitized in the washing machine afterwards. This is what sets them apart! Also you used the one meant to dry the windows not to clean them. The window cleaning cloth has a waffle structure.

      I love the glass and mirror e-cloth. You use the waffle cloth with only water and then dry and polish with the polishing cloth. If you use any product on glass it is most likely to leave streaks because it is so impossible to get it all off.

I am dying to try your Mop system, though I was really liking the Pledge Spray Mop. Due to a teething pup I needed a new one, but can no longer locate. I am not thrilled with the Wet Jet. Dawn, vinegar, and water are the big winners in our home. I need some new Mrs. Meyers because of the scent, though...or maybe just a drop of lemon or lavender essential oil. Loved your video. I rarely ever have to clean up our microwave because of a tip I learned in the '80s! When we bought our very first microwave, it came with a free “How to Use It” class that my husband and I attended. ;-) The instructor told us that all we needed for cleaning were either a piece of wax paper or steaming-hot water, and she was right. Now I always use one sheet of Interfolded Dry Waxed Paper by Handy Wacks from Costco, crumple it up to keep it from flying around in the microwave, and lay it over whatever is being cooked (if it’s uncovered). The waxed paper catches nearly every splatter. Once everyone in the house is on board with this, there are very few messes to clean up. Others in these comments here have mentioned the second line of defense she taught us-heating up water to build up steam before cleaning splatters. It works so well!

      Steaming the microwave is so awesome. I always do. I clean houses for a living and that works the best. I usually only microwave the water for 5 mins and wipe out. Very rarely I have to steam more than once or longer than 5 mins. I don't use the wax paper in my microwave, I do have a microwave cover that I use to cover the food so food doesn't splash everywhere.

    Years ago, I read that using diluted shampoo is good for cleaning the tub, especially for those stains on the grainy finish on the bottom of the tub. Why? Because shampoos are made to deal with body oils. So, I did a dilution where it was pretty thick, and smeared it all over my tub. Wow. Amazing results.
    I don’t use it in the kitchen on things with an oily haze, though. It works, but I do fine using a spritz bottle of plain water and my microfiber cloths. I do let it soak at least 30 seconds. Even on the vent hood.
    For my mop, I got cheap microfiber cloths. My little O-Cedar mop has little grippy teeth than hold the microfiber, and they stick well to the big Norwex mop head, too. I just replace and toss in an empty bucket, then toss all in washer with other dirty microfibers. If I use a bucket l all I can think of is that I’m putting dirty water back on the floor… unless the squeeze part squeezes dirty water out of mop into a different/separate section that keeps it from mixing with the clean water.
    I foster dogs (mostly seniors with bladder control issues), so I have stacks of squares that I’ve cut from old towels (the old made in USA ones are the best, buy at thrift stores for about $1). I can do a quick wipe up and toss into the dirty rag bin (different from microfiber, because of the terry cloth). If it’s an extra gross mess, I can just throw it in the trash.
    And, on a different tangent…. microfiber cloths on the legs and feet… talk about exfoliation! I use the heavy Norwex “everything” cloth on my heels, around toes, and then on legs before shaving. Amazing. I’m not kidding. I have friends who get mani/pedis, and after using regular cheap microfiber, their practitioners thought they were cheating on them, their feet were so smooth with no slough around toe nails.
    Lastly… I give my dogs’ teeth quick rubs with microfiber, most won’t let me brush, but they’ll let me go in there with a cloth. Most are too old and decrepit to undergo anesthesia for a formal clean.

    I'm watching this video now since I need to clean the oven. I find the cheapest thing to wipe dust off pictures, light fixtures, etc is a cloth diaper. I have several of them. When finished dusting I shake it outside and throw in the washer....easy peasy and very cheap as I have had cloth diapers purchased at a garage sale decades ago. No money spent on gimmicks. Love how Tom is helping with the oven door!!

      @ClaudiaSimoes91 3 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      Exactly. It’s not just for cleaning. I have a full steam cleaner. The ones with a tank. I have a few attachments like a mop, a medium brush for upholstery and larger areas, and a small brush for crevices and such. I know that when I’m cleaning, I’m also sanitising and with nothing more than water most of the time. You also do need to use it much closer to the surface than what was done in the video. It’s great to sanitise toys, upholstery, carpets, and especially the window corners that nothing seems to be able to reach. I don’t use it for the oven or stove because I actually prefer hard work cleaners for those things.
