Recommendation?????? I am in search of more shock absorption, I tried on a pair of Hoka Speedgoat 4's, they were too squishy for me.....what would be a max shoe that is a tad less squishy but still offers rock protection and decent shock absorption. Currently i am on the other end of the scale with a 2year old pair of Altra Lone Peak 3.0s (stack ht of 25mm but feel like barefoot at times) which can feel a toothpick if you ran over one. I need some bounce, shock absorption, rock protection.......you get the idea. thanks in advance
@Brian J The Saucony Xodus 10 is incredible........but I tried them and they were too narrow, my feet are too wide and have grown over the past 4 years. I went thru 2 pairs of Altras, not enough cushion and do not offer that much more, if any, room in the toebox, so they are out. I cant beleive this but i ended up with Asics GelVenture 7 , extra wide, and although at first blush they look like they would suck..........................they offer the toebox i need, they fit great, somewhat aggressive tread, and offer adequate cusioning for 45bucks a pair, versus Altra or teh saucony xodus.....these were a steal of a deal. Also, IF you try Saucony, do not buy black, they are made differently and do not have much cushion at all...........do you have to go to a store like I did and try on several pairs of different colors.......plus age of the shoe matters.......how long they have been on the shelf affects the cushioning too. be well.
Pretty sure Peregrine ISO is the 2019 version. Peregrine 10 is the latest version, i have a pair and, compared to Peregrine 9 (ISO) which were as durable as slippers, they are solid. Im at 300 miles and there's barely a scratch on them after running some very rocky routes.

These videos make NO sense. Best trail running shoes for WHAT is a much more sensible question. Depending on the type of terrain there are all sorts of lugs configurations. Depending on the distance you get cushioned or responsive and lightweight VS tank shoes. Cramming all of the possible models in a final list is stupid as hell. Where's La Sportiva Akasha for example? Or NB hierro? Or Salomon Sense Ride? They're all excellent in their own niches.

I like the Hoka with the Sig Sauer in it. Best concealed carry I’ve seen yet.
I use Altra Lone Peak 4.5 and Hoka SG 4 GTX. Salomon is not for my feet, too narrow.

I bought the Salomon speedcross and is not what is made out to be, the lugs wear out so fast its not worth the price.

why no wide sizes on anything, too much arch.... all... 6'4" 215 run trails almost daily. finding shoes sucks
The hoka speedgoat got a wide alternative. My friend has orc feet and they fit him well haha
