To answer the question as to why the river past the dams keeps drying up all the rivers are the same width as they go down stream and split meaning the total water level keeps being divided with each split the river makes. The river should have split into smaller streams at each fork.
So happy you made this a TH-cam. I suggest making one dam a levy in you upper dam. Try to funnel the flow a little to force more water to the lower branch of your river
The water kept doing that because the flow rate was too low. Water also constantly evaporates. That's why even if you have a pool of water you aren't draining, it will go down over time and dry up if it isn't replenished.
The influx of water isn’t large enough to balance the loss of water by outflow. It’s too easy for the water to flow out, resulting in very shallow water which dries up from time to time causing the tidal effect.
Well, in the real world rivers usually converge into one. They only separate on a delta because of the sediments, that might be the reason of the water physics going crazy.
i googled solutions for slow water flow for a while and got no answers. this may have actually solved that problem as that's what i did, kept branching it and the initial waterfall flows in 2 directions when it gets to the bottom. I didnt expect the physics to be so on point. gonna try again with a converging setup instead of a delta setup.
Maybe not useful said here but u should really not build the blocks in the river, not until everything else is built. (Solution: You can pause the buildings, even the one that are not yet constructed. A paused building will not be built)
The crazy water physics is because your input is x number of rocks (idk if they work being stacked behind as well) and you have 5 dams in the top/north river part so the water is going that way rather than down to your other part. You can solve that changing the top dam part to like 1/2 dams and the rest levees or adding floodgates and only using a small number of floodgates to let water in. Then more water will flow the other way, if that makes sense. Think of it like an input output, e.g. 5 rocks can go through 5 dam pieces, if you had 4 then the water would overflow. Not sure if that helps. An example for this would be to look at like 1:30:00 the water is moving really fast to the other river and none is flowing down to his berries.
i wouldn't say a tesla valve is even a real valve. it's more of a brake for liquids and doesn't fully prevent the flow in the direction you don't want it to go. i think it's most useful in systems with quickly changing flow direction when you don't want fluid to come back up where it came from, because the braking effect is partly carried out by the moving liquid itself, since it's being slowed down in only one of the two directions. that way inertia builds up in the direction you want.
Lmfao the way he mentioned this is was so good, "accidentally" shows thing building on twitch instead on his youtube channel, mentions it and also mentions vod channel. Very good tbh
You should add a twitch chat window when you stream, so we can see what you are responding to! It's really cool, and as long as you make it transparent (with only the words being seen) it's great!
At long last, he did clean up his six old woodcutter flags. :D Now what makes my eyelid twitch in irritation is the messy road left behind. And the sea of stumps. Oh well, that’s about what I’d expect from an engineer.
Eyyo fella engineer, I'm a fail one though, but I'm in strand of abm so I'll still make good money someday. Now you're the engineer, organize those houses so that they can be stack infinitely. How was my english?, it's impolite right. Love your beaver vids, keeps my my sanity.
Tesla valve isn't a valve and even he recognized this and called it a hydro-conduit simply because it doesn't actually stop liquids just adds resistance
Pretty sure that isn't it, as it should just hold the water not make it disappear, the problem is the water is going out of the top part of the river I'm pretty sure. He only has like 5 or 6 rocks bringing water in (he's like double stacked them and it doesn't look like the rocks work that way). So he needs to either change it so the top part of the river is like 3 levees and 2 dam/floodgate pieces so it will let water go the other way. If you see at like 1:30:00 the water is moving really fast to the other river and none is flowing down to his berries.
A Tesla valve has no moving parts; it is a complex tube that has branches that loop back into the main shaft, which allows water to flow in one direction; but the flow is impeded in the other direction via a loss of pressure/suction through the tube, due to the orientation of the intersecting loops. (I hope that was clear...)
Please either delete the dams in the Middle where the river is until you have your wall up, or build a single flood gate Where the River stands so you can still have the river flow, while you're building the dam
@@kinglarry9798 quickest in most cases. I've had them swim along a path carrying logs instead of taking a shorter path on platforms. So they took the 30% speed hit from swimming too. I guess that's probably a bug

@@Marahute0 They only branch on Deltas. Rivers don't branch unless a large body of standing water forces the debry in them to deposit and grow into small "islands" within the river.
@@Marahute0 Because river deltas form in a very specific manner that this one doesn't fulfill. In deltas the split rivers get progressively smaller and do not stay the same size. They also don't split as wildly, they continue in roughly the same direction a singular river would flow in. P.S.: The split river is also likely why the water physics engine of the game is reacting oddly to RCEs dams
It happens frequently enough that it has a name (bifurcation) and a branch of study dedicated to them. There's different types of branching rivers beyond that found in deltas like braided rivers and meandering rivers. The whole thing is quite interesting, as earth science goes.
@@TheDJdragonflame Just saying "no" to the delta question backed up with a purposefully vagued reasoning is not at all an argument worth replying to, so I won't. But I am afraid you really are confidently incorrect about the branching because bifurcation (google the term (and avoid wikis and look for proper research papers)) happens often enough even in non-deltas. And if you're thàt confidently wrong in that, I've little to no reason to believe your other vague statements.
honest question cause im ignorant: on a big dam like that wouldn't you want your flood gates in the bed of the river so that you can literally flood the water back into the river whenever you want? by putting the gates at the top wouldn't you just waterfall flood the rest of the map every time you open them? what am i missing??
So it will just flood the river if the input/output is right. It looks like there is like 5/6 rocks providing water so if he has 5/6 flood gates at the top letting water out into the river it will just work. He might need to make a small catchment area so it properly filters into the river but it should work. The water will take the path of least resistance and fall straight to the ground. At least I'm pretty sure it will work.
