    Evaporation is 0.045% of a height of a block per day, so about 21 days will lose an entire layer of water. The Evaporation counts only for the tiles of water exposed to the air. So if your water storage pool is just one block deep and very wide you'll lose it if the drought is longer than 21 days, if your water storage is deeper than 2 blocks, youll still have water after Evaporation, though you other consumption matters. Plants just seem to be waters if there's water within maximum range.
    For either group, a single voxel water dump is the most efficient way to extend the greenspace. This is achievable by placing four levees around an empty space with stairs to a water dump on top of one of the levees. Fill up the empty voxel of water anytime the greenspace starts going brown. You can save on levees and space if you dinomite a hole in the ground to fill with the water dump, or any compbinate of natural features and levees. It'd beneficial to leave single empty blocks in your reservoirs if you decide to grow things during the drought.

      What about the irrigation tower the Folktails have? I would think that would be more efficient since it's the same job but purpose built building.

    • @Kalatash
      @Kalatash 2 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@Xeridanus Something I read on the wiki is that a one voxel pit is more efficient than the irrigation tower at the moment, so probably a balance issue that needs to be patched.

    Beavers having children is tied to the building, not the faction. Since you used Folktail lodges, which breed to fill up the available space... well, you got a bunch of kinky Irontails on board I guess.

  • @TheMajorStranger
    @TheMajorStranger 2 ปีที่แล้ว +294

    I think the reason beavers are being born is due to using non-ironborn houses. Housing is what makes folktails reproduce and you have two folktail houses (the one on the top, light colored)

    i can assure you, it's an tilebased "evaporation" over time function - and the irrigation is a simple check if water is nearby and at wich y level, to determen how far irrigation should apply - but it doesn't use up water - while it would technicly be possible, determen from wich tiles to substract water and preventing that to mess with flow mechanics, would be a mild nightmare - you would need much more code to solve conflicts than for that function itself! ;-)

    Beavers didn't die of the flooding, I think. They died of hunger so they couldn't access food from the district center. The modded quantities of food were still in the district center which was flooded. Had it been on a separate platform on the ark, higher than the 'ship wall' of levees or had it even been outside the ark, the beavers would have gone in there to get food after the flood waters had flowed out.

    Okay listen
    You take dams, put them on top of a couple levees, and then in front of those dams you put a smaller "Pool" with floodgates, Im not sure if it would work water physics wise or cause flooding, but you might be able to create a floodgate at the bottom of the dam that way?

    I'm sorry but Ark translate to Arche, and arche is a word who start with a vowel, and these word transform their " Le/La " to " L' ", so it's L'Arche ^^ (And arche is a feminin word so it would be La Arche, but it's ugly so L'arche, and plural Les arches, there is a consonnant so it don't change, Les is neutral)

    @NightshadeDt 2 ปีที่แล้ว

    So, couldn't you just stack a platform on top of a levee block and then set a levee on top of that platform to create an opening to (attempt) to seal with a flood gate in front of it?
    I feel like that's similar in concept to how Kibz controlled the water flow to generate power in one of his lakes. It'd probably take a little bit of work to get the water to seal properly, but I'd think it would work sort of like it sounded like was intended.

    Aww man you forgot to try to put the dam on top of the levee.
    You even said it out loud right, then you went to the adjustable gates and forgot.
    Tbh I'm not sure if it will work but the thinking is, dams have a flat top, meaning you're allowed to build in them right? But dams also have a space to let water through, so doesn't that mean you could put a few near the bottom of a wall of levee on top of them and have a dam but still have a bit of flow?
    Then I thought okay, so if that works, you can build a capture box in front of the area that releases water with the levees and the the gates and have a manual flood gate that can store and release the water to any level you want, (as long as the gate top is higher than the dams, it shouldn't flood over right) thus allowing you to have a full dam as high as you can build it but if you want, you could empty the dam right down to the level of the dam.
    But I get that it's easy to be distracted. I'm just really curious what an engineer would do with that if it works.
    I got this idea while watching someone build a map size dam with step down tiers, thus having several waterfall type sections with power wheels.

    • @MGSLurmey
      @MGSLurmey 2 ปีที่แล้ว

      You can't build levees on top of dams. There's unfortunately no way currently to have a dam's spillway at the bottom.
