  • 70 years have passed after the Korean war.
A legendary record was made by the Philippine army to save Korea.
Thank you for all the sacrifices you made for Korea!
    Something should never be forgotten!

Older Koreans knew about this for some reason. I met Koreans who have migrated to the US. When they learned that I was from the Philippines, they reminded me of the Korean War in the ‘50s and how Filipinos defended their freedom. They’re very appreciative of the sacrifice that Filipinos made for their country.

The ridge was a well-fortified position, including trenchworks and bunkers, of the North Vietnamese Army. Capt. Condrado Yap was the most brave and a true leader of the Philippine Army in history. He decline the orders from the US regiment to leave the bodies of his dead comrades but he insist that it his obligations to bring them back to their family dead or alive and unfornately he was shot and die. This man is a true definition of a true leader salute and respect.

To add to this, a surviving soldier said in an interview that it was so hard for them during that time as it was winter in South Korea and Philippines is a tropical island so winter does not exist in our country. They were so cold at that time even their socks gets stuck on their foot and tears the skin when they remove it. I also only knew about this piece of history just recently. I wish they would've included this in history books so people, especially the younger generation would be educated, appreciative of our own nation and not to just take our freedom for granted.
Also fun fact: Most of the soldiers that fought in the Battle of Yultong (if not all) wasn't deployed under order. They *volunteered* to help out not because they were ordered to but because they came on their own free will to help SK. And that alone, I'm super proud of.

As a Filipino, I'm glad others recommended this video too. Just like in the other video about the war, more Koreans should know about this and deserve to know about this. If you do, please share these videos. It's great that you say you're thankful for the Filipino soldiers' service but they are the ones to be thanking for winning a major battle. Don't just say thanks but show it too. I think the best way to pay your respects to them is to simply share these kinds of videos so everyone become educated on the matter. It's unfortunate that schools don't teach this important information but you CAN do something; everyone can still learn about this. Our countrymen fought alongside other countries and contributed greatly to the war effort. They died to give you a home, not so that these truths remain hidden and some Koreans look down on us. There are some Filipinos who said they experienced discrimination in Korea. Once everyone know this, it will finally end. I just don't think it's fair that the efforts of our great-grandparents are not be discussed enough because schools decided this wasn't important enough to bring up

this is a very good part of history between Philippines and Korea...my grandfather was also sent there in the Korean war and from his stories I could feel the hardships of the Koreans during the war and after...many of them suffered so much just like any war that occurred in the world...he already passed away but he got to see the developments of Korea much faster than how my country progresses all throughout these years...I sometimes feel sad when some young Koreans are being interviewed in some videos about WHAT THEY KNOW ABOUT THE PHILIPPINES... their answers varies a lot...some will say...I DONT KNOW ABOUT PHILIPPINES...A COUNTRY WITH BEAUTIFUL BEACH RESORTS...A GOOD VACATION DESTINATION...A CHEAP WAY TO LEARN ESL BECAUSE THE SALARY OF THE TEACHERS IS VERY CHEAP...A LOT OF WOMEN WANTS TO GO OUT WITH YOU BECAUSE YOU ARE A FOREIGNER...NOT SAFE BECAUSE OF SOME ILLEGAL ACTIVITIES...VERY POOR COUNTRY...VERY HOT AND HUMID TROPICAL COUNTRY...and so on and so forth...there was one video that showed a high school Korean boy who spit and tore the Philippine flag because of an issue that he did not like after watching a video...these were some of the answers that I watched in some interviews about my country... I feel really sad about this...though some Koreans are also well-mannered when they arrived here but some thinks we are inferior to them simply because they are more developed economically...sometimes RESPECT can be determined by the AMOUNT OF MONEY YOU HAVE IN YOUR POCKET...it's very hard to make them realize what my ancestors did to help liberate their country from the communist rule...without those very important events in the KOREAN WAR...there is NO SOUTH KOREA NOW...but for those who acknowledge and appreciate it my deepest gratitude to them for doing so...May GOD bless you all in your endeavors in spreading the most important part of OUR HISTORY...

That's why in Philippines History subjects is a must to learn in the school and some we learned from our ancestors....that made us very aware of our history and I hope the other countries should practice this also to prevent misunderstanding, racist and ignorance. Tho the Philippines is now the most diverse country having many different dialects and tradition cos we've been colonized by Spaniards, Americans, Chinese and others but we're still faithful to our origin. I hope more Koreans will be educated about this matter cos I admire Korea, I'm a big fan of kpop💜. thank u so much for this reaction video❤️

just to correct Spain, the US, and Japan all colonized the Philippines at one point. Spain first settled in the Philippines in the 16th century. It would go on to colonize the country for more than 330 years, although the BRITISH briefly occupied Manila for 18 months from 1762 to 1764.

despite those sacrifices of my fellow Filipinos during Korean war for their liberty, some Filipinos in south Korea have been bullied and not treated humanely of some Koreans. hope this reminds to them that they should be grateful to Filipinos.

Thank you for honoring and remembering the heroism and bravery of our great soldier in Korean war.
Filipinos are warm friendly and hospitable people to foreigners, but they are also freedom loving people and they hate tyranny and oppression.
When the situations like this call for them to respond in order to aid their Ally, they are one of the most badass and cold-hearted warriors you will ever see.

That would be nice if this part of history will be thought at your schools in Korea. Hearing you say that this part of Korean War history wasn’t taught at your schools made me feel you are deprived by your own Country. There must be an acceptable reason/s as to why this part of history is not thought at your schools but whatever the reasons are, it still doesn’t feel right. You can start sharing this part of Korean War history to your families and friends. It’s not too late at least for the younger generations to know and learn about it.

We cannot erase history. And I think this is not being taught in Korean schools nowadays. I just hope that both sides of Korea learn a lot from this war along with China. I just hope that the young Koreans now will learn to look back with respect and dignity and be able to see the blanket of freedom and democracy that our Filipino solders fought for you. We owe it all to the brave men who valiantly offered their lives for your freedom. Godspeed.
