There was a fossil discovered in the Philippines; older than the previously discovered human skull. It also set back the scientists quest for the missing link of human evolution. It is believed that the Philippines already had original settlers, or perhaps, residents in ancient times. The reason for their disappearance is unknown and their bloodline -a question if it was passed on. So, if someone says, Filipino race... It is totally incorrect, as it is a collection and amalgamation of different races.
Also, check out the Philippines as the garden of eden.

I'm a kankana-ey from the unconquered tribes of the Philippine northern highlands and I have formosa-nippon ancestry. Due to the absence of a writing system among the fragmented highland tribes, our history and way of living have no specific records during the pre-colonial era. Militarily however, Spanish accounts of their successful and failed conquests in the Cordilleras speak of people who can organize armies up to more than 3000 men (given that the tribal clans are often not more than 1000 or even 500). Local accounts also speak of gold and goods trade with the lowlanders as well as metal trading during wartime. Also, during local rule of Filipinos who were former subjects of Spanish rule that declared themselves independent, committed atrocities to our ancestors which they paid in blood when we sold them out to the Americans, they should know to keep their heads on their necks especially when dealing with highland people... those arrogant lowlanders, up to this date, see my fellow Igorots as uncivilized, which can easily be forgiven because they were just made ignorant due to the 300 years of Spanish propaganda against our highland ancestors who resisted them, ignorance is curable tho. We now dominate the armed and police forces of the country. Many participated during the Vietnam and Korean wars.

    1898 Declaration of Philippine Independence,
The Philippine Declaration of Independence was proclaimed by Filipino revolutionary forces general Emilio Aguinaldo on June 12, 1898, in Cavite el Viejo, Philippines. It asserted the sovereignty and independence of the Philippine islands from the 300 years of colonial rule from Spain. Wikipedia
    Dates: Jun 12, 1898 - Sep 29, 1898
Filipino Won the war (1898) with the spaniards (Spain)
The United State Bought the Philippines from the spaniards (Spain) for twenty million dollars ($20million) PARIS TREATY 1898 to show that america had deafeated the spaniards (Spain) and also because the spaniards (Spain) could not accept that they had lost the war with the Filipino.
Because of what america did the conflict between america and Philippines broke out, which was called the Filipino American War.
The second world war was a war between america and Japan.
The Filipinos helped America in the war against the Japanese.

The Philippines was sold by the Spaniards to the Americans. Hence the Philippine - American war. Prior to the colonization, the country was never invaded by the known empires at that time. They were trade partners. The Kingdom of Brunei still has some ties with the descendants of the then Kingdom of Sulu now the Sultanate of Sulu. Some of their descendants got married to the descendants of the Kingdom of Maguindanao. But among those small islands lived the tribal people. Many say that the rulers of the Kingdom of Tondo are related to the old Chinese empire and yes some from the Gupta Empire now India. Ancient Filipinos are known to be sea farers and they trade using their boats across neighboring islands and kingdoms. So the Philippines if not invaded might be 3 different countries separated by bodies of water.
Also just to add, the Kingdom of Sulu was never invaded by the Spaniards. Attempts were made but it did not come to fruition.
