Honestly most imps. You either have them do 1 damage at the back or completely soak up one enemy attack (which could be a lot of damage since they don't overrun normally and most don't have multi strike) for your actual DPS unit. Like it would have still been extremely close, but not like to THE exact hit point close if he played those imps in front when he played them on lower floors.
@@balrend588 If you put armor imp at the front he buffs himself since he's the front unit in that scenario. You get less imp deaths for triggers, but it's a nice way to tank some hits. But yeah, there are many other imps endless feels more powerful on.

You're laughing? That boss just got weakened to the exact point of being able to be killed due to that imp floor and you're laughing. Actually yeah, that's pretty great.
Me, about to buy and play monster train since it came out today: 😁 Moments later, seeing a hour and a half Monster Train NL video: 👀 The game can wait another hour or two... EDIT: Now that the video is finished, NL saying “Ya know what, this is the imp floor now” had me cracking up! Can’t believe it’s the floor that made a difference too, fantastic stuff!!
Same, it's downloading right nowwwww EDIT: Well boys, first run was epic, 27k points, died on the final boss, had armor imp with endless and spikes soakin up damage like a boss though.
It would've made less of a difference if he put a chump blocker in front of his Animus, dealing 70+ more to the boss. It was a cool highlight but in reality it didn't need to be that close.
The imp floor came in clutch! For bosses you should probably add the imps in front so they tank a hit. The quickstrike mob would have attacked 1 more time if you put the imp in front insead of the back.
This series is so great. NL is the best content creator on this platform. Been watching NL every day for the last 5 years, can't wait to keep it going for the next 5 years. Or 10. Or 20.
i swear it feels like ive watched nl since ive used youtube and i never plan to stop, hes just too content rich and has the perfect humor of pseudo intellectual that i do its amazing.
Won my first run after the tutorial. Spike hollow (spikes, multistrike. Dude had 154 starting health)+ summons happen twice + starting with 4 units summoned floor 2 and a ton of holdover 0 mana cards that draw more things when played. As of writing this comment only 3.4% of players have gotten the achievement for beating Seraph. Pogged out of my freaking gourd dude
NL "Our units do nothing, and our spells do nothing too." Also NL 5 minutes later "we're gonna do the same parameters, because believe it or not I know what I'm doing." Also Also NL: Goes absolutely POG wild on everyone.
Hey NL, here's Some tips: :) 1 Please start putting your best guys on the middle floor turn 1, so you have more time to buff them out of control, and damage floor 1 enemies before they climb, enemies being on the first floor doesn't matter if they die as soon as they get to the second floor anyway. 2 On the 1st floor just put a minion with endless that doesn't matter too much or has quick 3 Multistrike+rage is insane, repeatedly buffing a unit already with multistrike will give you an easy really fun win. 4 Take the challenge on the first 3 encounters at least, it gives you a good advantage and never is bad enough to destroy you 5 When you fight a lot of enemies with rage, don't put units on the first floor, stack 2nd floor (or 3rd floor if they have haste) so there is time for the rage to burn off and they get weaker by the time they get to your minions 6 One the awoken champion, stack the upgrades that increase his max health, he is the best tank in the game
Imp decks aren't bad per se. The thing is you need the unit, that has 100 attack and 40 life and costs 10 mana with -3 mana for every imp active. Then the deck starts to be really good.
All the misplays are going to cause hell for him once he gets into the higher ascensions. But it's also going to cause exponential POGS once he finally accomplishes maximum victory.
Not even completely. He's protecting those imps (when those imps should be shielding his DPS unit). He's only playing at like 90% imp level here and it's already extremely powerful.
“I think we need to experiment with putting our champion on floor 2 so we can kill enemies that have already been weakened.” He finally said it. The most logical thing. Your front line should not be your last line of defense.
"God I hate that you put the tanky enemy in the front, it's so annoying." - Ah, so that's why he's been playing them at the back in the previous videos.
You couldnt write a better pog script. Absolute spike domination, until the final battle. The spike strat which was obviously stronger than your champion ever would have been with slay stacks fell. Then, in a last ditch effort, the imps, overlooked until now sacrifice themselves on the last floor, to deal just enough damage for the locmotive to arrive in pog-ville. Truly, a captivating experience
Here I'm, shouting "You deserve this!" and "You don't deserve this!" at the same time. Sometimes furious, sometimes cheering. Also bought it yesterday because of this series. Love the game.
Just started playing and can I say the videos do the EPIC SOUNDTRACK for this game like no justice. The game has some sick hell-delving, heaven-battling beats!
Best way to sell a game is play it horribly so other people are tempted to play it optimally. Watching someone make constant mistakes makes you tilt and want to fix all the mistakes. That's how I've always felt about YT channels that showcase games.
Really fun watch, thanks for getting me into the game! Some feedback: I think you should be taking all the upgrades when you have the money for it. You constantly leave 20 gold upgrades untaken, which would really help as there's no opportunity cost at all! Get those +6 attack and +15 HP even on a random minion if need be.
Hahaha, okay that was just so utterly brilliant across the board in terms of both your deck and how you managed to recover despite losing a key piece of your strategy early on. The imp floor just really felt like you were cherry tapping Seraph and the fact you managed to win by literally one hit.
I am loving this series, in fact I even purchased the game because of this series! It is very fun to watch and it is even more fun to play! Keep up the great work NL.
put the imps in front to take a hit. they still apply their summon skill. this saves your champions and good troops from taking hits allowing them to do more damage. i was yelling the whole video "PUT THE IMP IN FRONT AAHHHHH" they are literally cannon fodder.
that was one emotional roller coaster; comparable to watching interstellar and inception for the first time. Think i was literally half sweating in my palms at the end.
Amazing! I love it. I've never found any interest in the deck builder type games in the past, but this one has such a unique and interesting take on it, I'm in. I also find it far easier to understand and follow, while still having a lot of crazy cool strategies and synergies.
NL, some food for thought: when purging cards at the early game, you should clear out the basic heal and damage spells, because the train stewards don’t actually clog up your deck. They will all get played and should be used a sacrificial lambs to protect your champ when you don’t draw a tank, or to be the meat shield for overloading a floor. Only basic heal and damage spells clog up your deck, just like the basic strikes and defends in StS. The difference is that the basic cards in this game is on a magnitude worse, so you should get rid of them ASAP.
PS: The way you beat the second boss on your first run, by stacking regen, could have been used to perhaps beat the boss that killed you on your first run.
Another food for thought is to use the imps as shields. They usually don’t have any purpose after summoning unless you’re building a rage synergy. I see in this run that you had a lot of imps clogging up your play slots. My belief is that when you play an imp deck (when you get the frozen imp artifact), you should keep killing them so that you can keep playing new ones.
