Same for slay the spire - there was like a HUGE gap inbetween NL showing it off and me seeing it anywhere else. FINDING good games and showing them to people is a valuable talent that certainly deserves at least some praise.

YO I had a run last night (off camera, don't be mad) where I got the card that sends an enemy straight to the pyre and dazes them for 3 turns. So fun to grab a big unit on Floor 1 and send him up to meet his maker.
@@Northernlion If you get the Artifact that dazes enemies that enter pyre room for three in combination with that card and buff your pyre's attack with Heaven's Gold or Bone Rattler, you can send the Seraph directly to the pyre room and kill on the first turn.

@@pozsum Can you though? Not even sure you can get the boss in the pyre room early to begin with, never tried it, sounds hilarious. But Seraph has like 2300 health... You'd need 767 damage to kill him in 3 turns, or maybe 460 in 5 assuming you survive 2 hits? idk. That would be like 7270 gold and 4200 gold respectively, which seems almost impossible. Definitely a cool idea making a golden pyre run with the wax dudes though.
That solves that conundrum indeed, but what to do with the other bazillion (aka at least 2) spells umbra have that apply emberdrain? Morsels don't need the lifesteal or damage shield. I honestly just don't get it, except for using against the boss, where either way the emberdrain won't matter

Its totally different world aside the roguelike elements. OSFE is fast paced and thats a nightmare to comment while playing. On the other hand MT is slow paced and easier to swallow. I love both of it.

Quick tip for Umbra though as you basically turned your deck into Hellhorned and barely utilized what makes them great: you don't want to dilute your deck with too many non-Umbra units and focus on feeding them morsels to really pop off. The glutton tree of your champion is absolutely amazing for that and you should give it a try.

I think perils of production is intended to be used every turn without fail. Perils upgraded with holdover basically nullify the emberdrain penalty because they give you back the energy lost. The name does the card justice.

This is such a good series. It's no where near as frustrating as StS (which I love still) and feels just polished enough where you can get super silly setups like this and it's totally fine.

As soon as I unlocked umbra I knew I needed to see how nl would fare with them. They're really fun once you get the hang of it but my first run was such a confusing mess. Love the long monster train videos, thanks egg daddy!
(Normal Capacity 8: Actual Capacity 23) Great work using the Ascension and Extension cards to give you over capacity for your chonky boys, straight up broke the game at the end, but you kind of gave up the gradual growth of morsels for the instant gratification of having strong but high capacity cost units. Loved the video :)
Your videos saved me a lot of trouble! Your early runs with the plant lords taught me exactly what not to do and I quickly learned to put the champion in the front and that stacking wildwood sap is OP as heck.
I love putting a crucible warden on the 3rd floor, and stacking 20-30 damage shields on it, so if the boss even makes it up there, it can't kill the thing.
I'm waiting for episode 40 of this series when NL has worked stuff out to a fine point and starts to smash the game to pieces like Slay The Spire. I'm here for it.

NL thank you so much for introducing me to this game, I have invested way too much time already. Small life hack for the game to anyone who hasn't noticed it, you can cast spells like "Shadesplitter" on different floors to avoid triggering opponent incant abilities. Its super helpful against the units that gain 10 armor on casts.
The way to use all emberdrain cards on the Umbra faction is to ensure that the unit dies with it. That way theres no emberdrain. Can do that with the morsels, or just use a train steward already bound for death. So the Perils of production essentially reads "You get 2 energy but loose energy for the next two turns if target unit does not die". Loved the big boy ascend run though northernlion you really used what commentors told you its amazing to see.
Hope he learns to not be afraid of Emberdrain, there was that card that gives multistrike that could have been real sweet, at least before a boss when you dont need energy anymore.
You inspired me to purchase this yesterday. I've now won on Covenant 4 and loving the game. Thanks a bunch! Also, the ember drain cards are really good for buffing up a single unit late in the battle. Most are combined with lifedrain, rage, damage shield, and whatnot. So if your unit has crazy buffs, he can take more rounds of hits from the boss. It also is tremendously beneficial if combined with 0 cost cards.
NL, here is how you use the card with ember drain. It costs 0. Play it on a morsel, get 2 ember refunded, them gorge the morsel. Then it basically reads 0: gain 2 ember. Or play it on a unit that is going to die anyway to get a little more damage out of them, for example a haste unit or any unit on a boss floor. THen it basically reads 0: gain 2 ember, apply rage 2 to a unit that is dying this turn. I don't disagree with cutting it, but I figured I would offer this counterpoint

Great first run with the Umbra NL, highly pogged. A tip with Imps and capacity management; use them as damage shields. Unless they have rage all of thier utility is on summon, so they might as well soak up a hit for you and give you back the capacity, saw a few times in this run that would've helped you out. They also pair great with endless, I had an endless rage imp my last run that was amazing.
NL! You can keep your right click pressed and it goes beyond ultra speed for the fighting phases. Loving the series and the game! Got it for myself on release day and it has been 100% worth the price and more. Great run by the way.

I'm more convinced this episode than last that "Trigger Abilities" are the Purple abilities that say they will get "Triggered" by something specific (Not something like Multistrike, which just exists/is innate). Imps primarily exist for their Summon abilities, they're prime targets for spells with Slay. Umbra and Awoken seem like they could have amazing synergies.

NL, the point of the Emberdrain card is to play it on Morsel units, because they die next turn after being eaten anyways so you won't get affected by the Emberdrain effect, but you'll still get the free immediate energy and they'll have rage for their one attack.

You also don't get any negative if the unit dies. Nullifies the rage, but still get the energy. Great for Imp decks.

Morsels are all about leaving LOTS of space on each floor. ONE unit on each floor is perfect...and buff the hell out of them.
You can hold right-click even on ultra speed to make the battle go faster! Keep it up egg!

I think perils of production is meant for like applying to morsels so they'd A) Do damage and B) Get eaten before the effect takes hold

Hey NL, Loving the content. I was never able to get into slay the spire cos i got into it too late but watching and learning along with you has me pogged out of my mind, keep it up brother!
NL, the point of the Emberdrain card is to play it on Morsel units, because they die next turn after being eaten anyways so you won't get affected by the Emberdrain effect, but you'll still get the free immediate energy and they'll have rage for their one attack.
The multi strike behemoth behind the gorged out of his mind life steal unit was a dream play....just chuck everything else in the trash.
