@@takiyeet6946 To be fair stacking a floor with 100 damage units is scaling. I think you have the right idea but ar ejust a little bit confused. There was no need to list a few strategies. This is not a game where you can enter with pre-determined strategy. You go with the flow, he went with the flow perfectly here. The game just told him you can get 4 free Consumers on floor 2. Thats pretty much a free win already, Just 4 of them with multistrike equates to 800 damage. No boss kills them in 1 turn so you have 800 damage guaranteed.(Unless they die befor ethe boss, but thats why you are playing) Even if 1 of them dies second turn they still deal 600. Thats 1400 damage. Sghould I continue or you get why this floor was better scaling than a lot of the things you listed? The issue was however that he could and should've played a lot more than 4 consumers(and he eventually did) and the way to do that was through imps. He desperately refused to play imps in order to have even more consumers, even faster even cheaper. With that said, he does do the floor stacking a lot! And he does it often at times where it shouldn't really be a good startegy. The madman pulls it off sometimes but....his relation with floor stacking is almost as strong as that with glimmer. :D
Watching this years later and it was hurting my soul to watch him not stack the top floor with imps and then say he doesn’t have the energy to summon them….
Finally, on the last boss he says "Actually I think just having one floor where you put imps just to make consumer of crowns playable..." I was screaming this at my TV all run.
Yes...it bugged me so much, and after he summons 2 imps he proceeds to not have a floor with imps to have his consumers cost 0.... He even realzied he can do it and he still didn't...ARGGGGGG

That would have been an incredible end to the run. Before I read this comment I had greatly enjoyed the video but now I'm actually disappointed instead.
It wasn't until the last 4 min of the video where he realized.. "I should play an imp on the top floor to make consumers cheaper"... and then proceeded to summon 2 3 cost consumers instead of placing down the imp he gets *every* turn.. He could of also killed the bosses first turn if he had ascended them/ fireballed the bomb which would of got rid of spell shield and clapped him but I digress, was a pogged run still
When you were about to multiply the consumer of crowns, I was like scared for a second. Then it dawned on me. Best run I've ever seen LMAO. Also, for future reference, you can ascend/descend the flying sneaky bosses to get them into your killzone! You can also ascend relentless bosses, but they'll destroy anything that is below them.
Fun fact: If you use Ascend on a boss to bring them up to a floor where they are guaranteed to die you get the boss-rush score bonus of the floor you pulled the boss up from. For example at 18:30 you could have used Hidden Passage on the boss and been given a 30% score bonus instead of a 20% bonus.
NL: "I'm not being cocky" Fails to use heals/regens on his second-floor front unit to keep him alive or use spells to kill the enemy units and save his boys...
The fact that he never realized if he just filled the top floor with unos, every consumer of crowns would be free from that point in killed me. I mean, he absolutely dominated anyway cause his deck was so strong, but still.
This run was glorious. The way NL handled the ascension plays in the beginning was straight galaxy brain. On top of that, the consumer of crowns doup was the Chef's kiss. Absolutely incredible. Thanks for the content, NL. Loving the new merch.
I know this is a super old video but just love this point of NLs Monster Train career where he is exactly experienced and knowledgable enough to copy consumer 5 times and synergize so it always works with plans but not experienced enough in the meta game to use his top floor to just summon imps to make the build work even better. 10/10
I'm back to NL's monster train videos in the tail end of 2022, and to this day "collector of crowns", and "consumer of champions" are my favourite units in this game.
I like how at 30:00 he talks about how he doesn't want more capacity when he just took more capacity from the boss. I love our egg he's great. Keep up the strong work NL loving the series so far.
That doesn't even include all the times he skipped summoning 10 or 7 cost Consumers entirely, when he could have easily made them 1 or 0 cost. The pain.
@@WuxianTec I think he gets too caught up in the idea that people aren't interested in slower gameplay even if it means he makes better decisions. What he doesn't seem to realise though is that 'slower' gameplay is often actually faster since you don't waste time on dumb mistakes.
@@pasty609 Also, this isn't a real time game but a turn based game. Viewers of turn based games tend to be okay with slower gameplay and more thought out explanations of why the play is good. It's a different genre and is better suited for a different video tempo.
Just a quick heads up, don’t know if you already noticed but using the caravan caverns, you can give a unit an upgrade even if their slots are full, so it’s a free and easy way to bypass that requirement. Usually the best play is to over max a unit, because you can always buy other upgrades the normal way, but that’s one of the only ways to over max a unit. Nicely done breaking Monster Train right in half!
Insane run - but every time you played a consumer of crowns for 4 energy when you had an imp in your hand it hurt a little bit. Every imp you play lessens the cost, you could have played the imp first, then consumer of crowns would cost one, and then you could afford to ascend as well. Super Pog though - loving this series.
When the first play is ascending a 0 attack unit to set up the slay trigger you know his brain is firing on all cylinders. Thanks for the blessed Monster Train content Ryab.
Dude, if you're paying attention to points, don't forget you can ascend/descend the boss. That means you can get a boss rush-3 instead of a boss rush-2 and you can move Seraph from the bottom floor to your kill floor every time he tries to dip. Between that and consumer misplays, you left several thousand points on the table.
Hey NL! quick hint! as long as the boss isn't relentless, you can move them around with Ascend / Descend, giving you more chances to bring high-damage floors to bear!
An important thing to keep in mind as egg passes more turns with cards in hand is that regen doesn't only add "+1" to their potential heals... it adds the number of stacks of regen on the unit and then adds one to their heal over time - you want to stack regen if possible.
I had a similar run to get Covenant level 10. 4 Shadowseiges (200/150) Two with 2X Multistrike and the other two Multistrike/Quick. The Umbra Stone (Trample) with Eternal Stone (removes consume) was just icing on the cake. Volatile Gauge (units cost between 0 and 3 ember) was the first artifact I got but then got Sketches of Salvation (summon 4 random units to second floor) right before the last battle. Was able to stack 3 Shadowseiges that way.
Consumer of Crowns: Gets cheaper when you have imps NL: Has a 4 cost CoC in hand with an imp. Also NL: Spends all his ember playing the CoC without playing the imp.
Egg - I would like to play these collector of crowns Me - ok cool play the imps on the top floor until consumers cost 0 Egg - no thanks just gonna keep summoning them on the bottom floor so they die
Yo, thanks for this vid, my dude! I never thought about using that artifact like that, so I made a Hellhorned/Umbra deck and rerolled until I started with it then just dumped as many Shadowsieges and Consumer of Crowns in the deck as I could. Got all three achievements for killing bosses before their combat phase from it.
The quint-dupe with the Plans that fill up the second floor is how I killed the final boss before she entered Relentless phase, getting that +70% score bonus. Mine was Demon Fiends, with 60 attack and Multistrike 2, but Consumer of Crowns might be even more hilarious.
NL, I tried to make sure there were no repeats of this comment. But as a tip you could stack your Imps on the top floor so you Consumer would always be free and the top floor imps would never die. You could also Ascend the trash units on the middle floor to make room for Consumers. (So if you had an imp on your middle floor just ascend it to top floor) Super OP run though you were bound to win regardless.
With his refusal to play imps I was kind of hoping channel song would end up hitting one to make him realize that he should have been playing them (on top floor preferably).
I think this was a great run but I think there were a few small mistakes that could definitely have been avoided. Also, I think the strat is play those imps on top floor to lower the cost of the consumers on bottom floor which get ascended. Also using ascend on second floor consumers if they are going to die is still a strong play. Anywho great run, enjoyable to watch. Keep up the great work Egg daddy.

I'm super proud of NL for figuring out that he should have used the last floor as an Imp haven even if he never did it. He's evolving! Sort of.... Maybe...
The reason why you may take the +10 Health but unable to heal is when you're playing a build that doesn't care about healing, but has other ways of gaining life, such as Endless, Morsel lifegain, or damage shield. That +10 is fantastic for the Dreg's of Melting Remnant. Giving them 4 times the life with no real downside for the clan is hype.
Moving the weak minions to the front and let them die would have been the key to get rid of them and make space for others, or sacrifice the ones in between instead of the ones on the top floor

Pretty sure it's intended. Although, it's weird that if you then get the triple upgrade relic afterwards the upgrade takes up the 3rd slot.

I'm super proud of NL for figuring out that he should have used the last floor as an Imp haven even if he never did it. He's evolving! Sort of.... Maybe...
The reason why you may take the +10 Health but unable to heal is when you're playing a build that doesn't care about healing, but has other ways of gaining life, such as Endless, Morsel lifegain, or damage shield. That +10 is fantastic for the Dreg's of Melting Remnant. Giving them 4 times the life with no real downside for the clan is hype.
Moving the weak minions to the front and let them die would have been the key to get rid of them and make space for others, or sacrifice the ones in between instead of the ones on the top floor
