We just finished tonight with 2 players. Our 12th game was actually a tie and overall we ended up less than 40 dollar difference. I really enjoyed all of the different things that were added. My wife started getting overwhelmed about game 7. We definitely made a crazy country. We added in and went straight across the middle of the country into California. Our final two regions were Badlands and Open Range so the ONLY way out West anywhere was to go through Omaha and Kansas City which made it interesting. We never had the Aftershocks effect either of us unfortunately even if we built out there. With 2 players it almost forced you to keep cards that were in new regions because we wanted to play those regions. We also talked about which events to discard because we wanted to keep the ones that added more to the game. I loved when you would get a post card and it hinted at something for the future, like I got one with curses early and was like WTF? Until I saw Haunted Wastes as an expansion. I would love to play it with 3-4 players. We have a lot of post cards that weren’t touched. My favorite region was: Cascadia because of the Gold Rush and being one game to do it. Second favorite would be Badlands with the stocks My least favorite region was: Florida with the Circus Train because with 2 players it felt like you ere just ramping up and it was done. My wife’s favorite region was: Open Range with the robber. Her second favorite would be Cascadia. My wife’ least favorite region was: Sierra Madre with the treasure hunt
This looks great! Going to have to pick this up. Thanks everyone at Tantrum House for this review and everyone at Days of Wonder for making another awesome game!!!
We just finished the campaign and loved it, but it did get confusing with a lot to keep track of; thank you for showing us the secret location of the rules to continue play!!
Is there an option to play the 12 scenarios without "destroying/using" cards? Is it recommended to play with 2 or with 4/5 people and what is the expected total playtime of all the 12 games/scenarios?
u have to use the cards/items in order to play the 12 scenarios. I'd recommend more players BUT it is doable with 2. The earlier games are faster than the later ones. If you are playing with 4 or 5 players, I think the total play time will be about 15-20 hours
We sleeved the cards and used a dry erase marker to mark off the cards on the sleeve where it would be hole punched. For places that used stickers, we used Post-It notes or taped chits to the board. For the scratch off cards, we looked up the values for the cards on a BGG thread. Thus, we were able to not destroy anything or permanently alter the board. We played at 2p and it was fun! Like base Ticket to Ride, you're less likely to block each other at 2p. However, certain unlocks seem they would be more fun and competitive at higher player counts.
You can play through the 12-game campaign one time. After you finish the campaign, the game is playable in its final state. You basically end up with a unique Ticket to Ride map.
@@tantrumhousegames but would you play it again? If you have a choice between your favourite maps and the one from legacy, how often would you choose the legacy one? Have you even picked it up after finishing it?

Excellent!
@@tphan300what is the BGG thread? We want this info and ability also
We just finished our 2p playthrough and while you will probably miss some of the things it is well worth it.
So it sounds like it’s only a play one time game?
