The Ticket to Ride Asia reference in the end sent me into a spiral. I bought it and it's fascinating! It ended up making me venture into India. And now United Kingdom is on its way (i already had France). Gosh, what a butterfly effect that was! 🤯
Yeah we debated it though. The slight problem here is that despite the card saying “from this game” (which could be from now on or in game 1) the way the rule sticker is placed you have to reverse through the steps (you do the stuff after the pause card and place the punch rule before then).
@@miistercrayon yea but I think the rule sticker applies to future rounds. Because it was unlocked during that game, and it says “this game” you haven’t started a new game yet. So it’s saying to retroactively do it, and the sticker is saying to do it starting at that step on future ones.
These rule additions look to be added at step 3, PAUSE, apply them, then continue with the game end steps. if the new rules are in the later steps, they would apply.
@@werewolfkai It was confirmed by the designers that you start punching with game 1. That's why the rules in the toolbox say "starting with this game".

Heaven knows if I’ll ever get an opportunity to play this (I loves me a legacy game, but my group has so many other campaign games to work through first), so it’ll be nice to at least experience the first few games vicariously. 😂
I wonder if you were supposed to punch tickets after your first game. The reason it seems like you should, is they said to read the STOP card stuff before cleaning up the board etc. That makes it seem like you would need to do something. So when the new rule is revealed, it should apply now...otherwise, why make you stop cleaning up the board and your stuff? I mean, I could be wrong, it may have said "apply this to your next game" ...but it seemed odd that the game wants you to stop cleanup prior to the new rules being revealed.
Are you planning on playing the entire campaign? i dont have anyone who i could get to play this so would love to just be able to watch a playthrough of it
After my first 3 plays of this game, trying to get that $2 bonus for completing your coloured routes, nah, forget it,.Just make sure your tickets are done. Collecting a hand full of train cards and laying your routes like normal TTR games, nah, play those routes ASAP.. This is not your basic TTr game,
I like that whoever’s last gets to remove an event that they may not like. I like that the last player gets president as a catch up mechanism. Doenst seem that weird to me. I don’t see it being imbalanced as you didn’t have the same person win each time.. lol.
Question. When choosing employees it said to let last player choose first. Is it done the way you did it or is it considered a new game and Lincoln should have chosen first since he is last player.

I’ve said this within my game group, but I’d love a version of TtR called TtR: Tri-State that maps out the MTA networks in NY, NJ, and CT. Basically all of the MTA run trains including the NYC Subway, the Long Island Railroad, Metro North, and NJ Transit. Not sure if there’s a TtR version that has a transfer mechanic, but that would have to be part of it.
I feel like you were placing way more emphasis on the two coin bonus than it deserves. I was able to complete 5 tickets my second game with the occasional bonus. By the end of our third game between the tickets in our hands and the ones removed there were only 4 left in the stack. Those one point tickets will be removed and I imagine longer tickets will take their place as more of the map opens up. We are only done three and this is our first legacy game, but have not found any of the unbalanced fears expressed in the ending discussion.
We are playing with 2 players and we have played 6 games and our Ticket deck is like 60 cards, because the map is so big its now kinda just turned into playing against ourselves.
I play with a regular group of about 10 players. After our first game, EVERY person said they would never purchase this game because it was so expensive AND you can only play once. Ridiculous. Did I just happen to miss when they took $2 for connecting to large cities?
We are on game 5 with 2 players and it foesnt really work very well, you cant cycle through the added components fast enough so you end up with many overlapping gimmicks and it really, REALLY messes up the flow of the game. Also the map is very clearly going to end up far too large even with 40+ trains. Its cool dont get me wrong but at this price point 3 players absolute minimum.

@boardgamegeek if white then become wild does that mean you can only add one from the board to your hand? I saw someone draw multiple white from the board when it was a wild.
I think there was no mistake. You can only draw 1 LOCOMOTIVE from the board (and locomotives always act as wild). You can draw 2 color cards from the board. White cards under specific temporary circumstances act as WILD, but still are not locomotives.
Intriguing first half-hour.... nice looking components, unique and light legacy. Then Dave started reading the first story. Fifteen seconds later I realized this is definitely not for our group.....
So frustrating they don’t follow the rules.. he opens the ticket punch and it literally says it applies that first game and he Doenst do it on any of them.. there should have been some cards retired and postcards given out.. already putting everyone behind.
It's pretty annoying but when you're deep in the game there's not too much you can do. They'll probably only play the three games and never get back to it.
@@ianoble yea and that’s where it applies after that game. There’s a checklist you follow when opening new boxes or when new rules are applied. It usually has you apply the stickers while also having rules apply for the game they are taking place. This one specifically says it takes place “this game”. The point is it’s a surprise. They didn’t know they were gonna have to punch tickets and possibly get postcards. That’s why it says “this game”.
Yeah for Ticket to Ride! Yeah for Gamenight! But boo for legacy.. i have a hatred for legacy games on youtube because people never play the complete legacy game. I have know one to play with so I would love to see a full series but no, it always just one episode and I never see the end and that sucks!😢
you have to watch the Betrayal at House on The Hill legacy playthrough then, because they play through the entire campaign and even have a discussion with Rob Daviau after their campaign on Game the game
We played the whole game of The Initiative. It was very fun but people don't watch all of the episodes. It's diminishing returns and we miss showing other new games. Thanks for the note and for watching the show. -Lincoln

Enjoyed the playthrough. Probably not for me though. I cringe at the thought of destroying any components of a game. That's the whole reason for sleeving the cards.
Eh, if legacy game concept proliferates, the practice of punching holes, tearing cards is not really environmentally friendly as people will not likely replay the completed game & will likely throw it in the end
@@martind2520 I would say a campaign game is a game spread over multiple sessions with no significant changes in rules whereas legacy games have changed in rules over the time period. I still think there is a place for non destructive legacy games
hey here is a 100$ game where you can destroy components or write on them....who thought this would be a good idea? 100$! i mean i thought the tzolkin gear gimmick was bad...i aint writing on or destroying my games no matter how fun it may be..
yeah im with you on that like i love the concept of a campaign/legacy game... but good grief there are better options to mark down the state of the campaign without making the game unplayable... like dorfromantik has a nice way of doing things... you just have a large block of campaign sheets and you mark down what you have unlocked and then you just start a game for that campaign by adding all the marked down boxes and extra tiles... and if you want to play with different people or just want to start over...you just start a new sheet and theres plenty other ways to do this that dont require permanently destroying components
We just wrote an 🆇 on the sleeve where the punch should be rather than actually ruining the card. And of course, if it only needed one punch, the card was simply retired.
ImPORTant 😂😂😂 Dave cracks me up. I also do think many of the imbalances you guys noted in this first quarter of games will be recalibrated for in the next ones. Would love to see you guys play this whole box if possible 😊

Hopefully this game is added to TTS soon. I think this game will be a lot of fun for online players.
9:55 Note that the train deck does not have orange and purple cards, so it can't be used for other Ticket to Ride maps.
Since your cards are sleeved you could just draw a circle on the sleeve with a dry erase pen instead of punching a hole.

If you're talking about the end of game 3, Lincoln did choose first- he chose the $5

At 53:00 the player built on a grey route with two green and a white. This is not allowed, the cards should be the same colour or use wild card(s)
I think at some point white also became a wild card

It's not their fault because where you read the Pause card is AFTER where the punch rules sticker is.

Did you read in the rules where it says it's just a game and if you can't fix a rule error easily to not?
