4.30 Hindu migrants from Sindh did not convert national language of India to Sindhi. But Migration from India resulted in foreign language Urdu becoming national language of Pakistan. This obsession of Urdu resulted in alienating locals. This is also root cause of creation of Bangladesh. Punjabi migrants from East Punjab spoke same language so could assimilate. Sindhi in Mumbai have largely made English their language .
Nobody asked for your opinion and many Sindhis in india have totally forgotten Sindhi and prefer hindi and local languages. so go and worry about that.

There is no such thing as muhajir...Muhajir was our grandparents who actually made the migration, but if our parents are born in Pak and we are also born there, then how are we Muhajir? When pakistan got independence million of Refugees,who came from indian united provinces (especially U.P, Delhi, Bihar and Deccan) they can't merged with native peoples and speak local languages therefore locals consider them Muhajirs and they remains Muhajira.Other hand Pakistan's Hindus who went to india during partition they merged with locals and speak local languages thats why indian locals couldn't consider them outsider.
One thing nice in pakistan they give respect to local language but in India they only speak Urdu not local language

Remember there was nothing about Population Exchangee in Pakistan Resolution or Partition plans. Had people known that Pakistan included Population Exchange, Pakistan would never have been accepted by the founding Provinces. After partition if muhajirs were allowed to rule Pakistan for few more decades, Pakistan situation would have been in much better shape, since most of them were educated, patriotic and honest. That’s why if you look at the stats of early fifties and sixties, Pakistan was among the most rapidly developing country. But alas, regional bias, narrow mindedness and to grab hold of powers, native leader pushed these capable lot and started taking over governance, bureaucracy and then all the sectors of government and now we are in this situation where Pakistan is becoming a butt of joke in terms of corruption, incompetence, poverty and extremism. Muhajirs are 20% of total population and they would have slowly faded away and majority population would have ultimately taken over the power corridor but that would have brought much better outcome.

It is a pitty.Urdu speaking community is called Muhajir or Hindustani by local sindhi baluchi and punjabi.The reasons behind that was that they come from India or Hidustan.They think they original Pakistani .They treat urdu speaking community as Hindustani where as i think they incidentally become Pakistani .They slept in the night and when woke up Pakistan came in to being existance so they became Pakistani

Claiming the other is unpatrotic has been a game of the muhajir community for a long period. Please look around and note how we have the most opportunities in the country. The onus is on us (for education and economic power) and Punjabis (for pop size) to give back. Please stop shouting oppression and do something for the country.

Punjabis who migrated from eastern Punjab which is now in India were NEVER called Muhajirs. They were accepted as Punjabis and never faced discrimination.
It is only the non-Punjabi urdu-speaking people who migrated to Pakistan from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar who faced and still face discrimination in Pakistan, especially in Sindh as Abdul Basit Saab pointed out.

The punjabi migrants settled all over the pakistan and no one called them muhajir.
Those immigrants who were not able to talk local languages (west pakistan) were blessed with above titles by local community like sindhi, punjabi, pakhtoon etc. The bangalis were declared "ghaddar" by whole west pakistani entities.
If u r also a non-immigrant pakhtoon, then ur family might have some role in this issue as well.
The worst thing happened when a pakhtoon contested with Madam Fatima Jinnah and while he won he genocide non panjabi immigrants. That happened in 1964 and lead to 1971 Dhaka fall.

I am Karachiit and my parent migrated from India. Your analysis is based on ground realities. Karachi and its residents were happy and quite satisfied until early eighties and Karachi was a cosmopolitan and very peaceful city. What happend then you explained well. It was a brilliant chance for MQM leadership which could have made this city even more progressive, peaceful and developed the way they got political strenthg and could have earned a better name than mahagir but they exploited mahagir identity for their political reasons and failed.
In my opinion, if majority of muslim population would have migrated from India then today Pakistan's position would have been much better and balanced demographically. Muslims in India will remain in minority to their disadvantigious even if their population increases from Pakistan.
Its not late even now, but none of our brotheren are least interested!
